A novel dandelion-based bionic proppant and its transportation mechanism in different types of fractures

Low-permeability reservoirs are generally characterized by low porosity and low permeability. Obtaining high production using the traditional method is technologically challenging because it yields a low reservoir recovery factor. In recent years, hydraulic fracturing technology is widely applied for efficiently exploiting and developing low-permeability reservoirs using a low-viscosity fluid as a fracturing ***, the transportation of the proppant is inefficient in the low-viscosity fluid, and the proppant has a low piling-up height in fracture channels. These key challenges restrict the fluid(natural gas or oil) flow in fracture channels and their functional flow areas, reducing the profits of hydrocarbon *** study aimed to explore and develop a novel dandelion-bionic proppant by modifying the surface of the proppant and the fiber. Its structure was similar to that of dandelion seeds, and it had high transport and stacking efficiency in low-viscosity liquids compared with the traditional ***, the transportation efficiency of this newly developed proppant was investigated experimentally using six different types of fracture models(tortuous fracture model, rough fracture model,narrow fracture model, complex fracture model, large-scale single fracture model, and small-scale single fracture model). Experimental results indicated that, compared with the traditional proppant, the transportation efficiency and the packing area of the dandelion-based bionic proppant significantly improved in tap water or low-viscosity fluid. Compared with the traditional proppant, the dandelionbased bionic proppant had 0.1-4 times longer transportation length, 0.3-5 times higher piling-up height, and 2-10 times larger placement area. Because of the low price and abundant reserves of sodium compared with lithium,the research of sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)in the field of large-scale energy storage has returned to the research *** oxides distinguish themselves from the mains cathode materials of SIBs owing to their advantages such as high specific capacity,simple synthesis route,and environmental ***,the commercial development of the layered oxides is limited by sluggish kinetics,complex phase transition and poor air *** on the research ideas from macro-to micro-scale,this review systematically summarizes the current optimization strategies of sodium-ion layered oxide cathodes(SLOC)from different dimensions:microstructure design,local chemistry regulation and structural unit *** the dimension of microstructure design,the various structures such as the microspheres,nanoplates,nanowires and exposed active facets are prepared to improve the slow kinetics and electrochemical ***,from the view of local chemistry regulation by chemical element substitution,the intrinsic electron/ion properties of SLOC have been enhanced to strengthen the structural ***,the optimization idea of endeavors to regulate the physical and chemical properties of cathode materials essentially is put forward from the dimension of structural unit *** opinions and strategies proposed in this review will provide some inspirations for the design of new SLOC in the future.

A Comparative Study of the Power-law Relationship between the Pulse width and Energy of Precursor and Main Burst

In gamma-ray burst prompt emission,there is still no consistent conclusion if the precursor and main burst share the same *** this paper,we try to study this issue based on the relationship between pulse width and energy of the precursor and main *** systematically search the light curve data observed by Swift/BAT and Fermi/GBM,and find 13 long bursts with well-structured precursors and main *** fitting the precursor light curve of each different energy channel with the Norris function,we find that there is not only a power-law relationship between precursor width and energy,but also a power-law relationship between the ratio of the rising width to the decaying width and *** comparing the relationship between the precursors and the main burst pulses,we find that the distribution of the precursors and the relationship between the power-law indices are roughly the same as those of the main *** addition,it is found that the precursor width distribution as well as the upper limit of the pulse width ratio does not exceed 1 and both are asymmetric,which are also consistent with the main *** indicate that the precursor and the main burst are indistinguishable,and the precursor and the main burst may have the same physical origin.

The bottom blowing element is the key equipment to ensure the bottom blowing effect of the *** types of bottom blowing elements,dispersive type(D1),double circular seam(D2)and straight cylinder type(D3),were built,and the effects of bottom blowing element type on molten bath flow,wall erosion and furnace bottom erosion were *** was found that when the bottom blowing elements of dispersive type(D1)and double circular seam(D2)were used,the dead zone area in the lower part of the molten bath was smaller,and the high-speed zone area was larger;therefore,the stirring effect on the bottom melt was *** the straight cylinder type(D3)bottom blowing element was used,the gas penetrated the molten bath at a faster rate to reach the surface of molten bath and failed to disperse in the bottom molten bath,and the wall shear stress near the nozzle outlet was *** argon was blown by three different bottom blowing elements,the area of the wall shear stress greater than 3 Pa was 4.8,5.6 and 8.7 cm2,respectively,within 0.2 m of the bottom blowing nozzle outlet.

The influences of perforating phase and bedding planes on the fracture deflection in laminated shale

The perforating phase leads to complex and diverse hydraulic fracture propagation behaviors in laminated shale formations. In this paper, a 2D high-speed imaging scheme which can capture the interaction between perforating phase and natural shale bedding planes was proposed. The phase field method was used to simulate the same conditions as in the experiment for verification and hydraulic fracture propagation mechanism under the competition of perforating phase and bedding planes was *** results indicate that the bedding planes appear to be no influence on fracture propagation while the perforating phase is perpendicular to the bedding planes, and the fracture propagates along the perforating phase without deflection. When the perforating phase algins with the bedding planes, the fracture initiation pressure reserves the lowest value, and no deflection occurs during fracture propagation. When the perforating phase is the angle 45°, 60°and 75°of bedding planes, the bedding planes begin to play a key role on the fracture deflection. The maximum deflection degree is reached at the perforating phase of75°. Numerical simulation provides evidence that the existence of shale bedding planes is not exactly equivalent to anisotropy for fracture propagation and the difference of mechanical properties between different shale layers is the fundamental reason for fracture deflection. The findings help to understand the intrinsic characteristics of shale and provide a theoretical basis for the optimization design of field perforation parameters.

A group of massive galaxies at redshifts of z■7 have been recently detected by the James Webb Space Telescope(JWST),which were unexpected to form at such an early time within the standard Big Bang *** this work,we propose that this puzzle can be explained by the presence of some primordial black holes(PBHs)with a mass of~1000M_(⊙).These PBHs act as seeds for early galaxy formation with masses of~10^(8)-10^(10)M_(⊙)at high redshift,hence accounting for the JWST *** use a hierarchical Bayesian inference framework to constrain the PBH mass distribution models,and find that the Lognormal model with the M_(c)~750M_(⊙)is preferred over other *** rapidly growing BHs are expected to have strong radiation and may appear as high-redshift compact objects,similar to those recently discovered by *** we focused on PBHs in this work,the bound on the initial mass of the seed black holes remains robust even if they were formed through astrophysical channels.

A Stable Copper-based Metal-Azolate Framework for Efficient Electroreduction of CO_(2)to C_(2+)Products

Driven by renewable or excess electrical energy,electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction(eCO_(2)RR)represents a promising carbon-neutral approach to generating valuable low-carbon fuels by consuming CO_(2)and H_(2)O.C_(2+)products are one of the most economically valuable products among the reduction species of eCO_(2)RR,but there are still some challenges,such as low selectivity or low current *** this work,we showed that a copper-based metal-azolate framework(MAF),denoted as MAF-203,exhibits the high performance of eCO_(2)RR to yield C_(2+)products with the Faradaic efficiency(C_(2+))of 52.5%and a current density of 660 mA/cm^(2)at-1.2 V *** in a flow cell device under alkaline *** experiment,in situ infrared spectroscopy and the density functional theory(DFT)calculations showed that the electron donating effect of methyl substituents on organic ligands of the copper-based MAF could enhance the ligand field and activation of key intermediates(*CO and*CHO species),thus promoting the coupling of*CO and*CHO for yielding C_(2+)products.

Centrifuge modeling of unreinforced and multi-row stabilizing piles reinforced landslides subjected to reservoir water level fluctuation

With the construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir dam,frequent reservoir landslide events have been *** recent years,multi-row stabilizing piles(MRSPs)have been used to stabilize massive reservoir landslides in *** this study,two centrifuge model tests were carried out to study the unreinforced and MRSP-reinforced slopes subjected to reservoir water level(RWL)operation,using the Taping landslide as a *** results indicate that the RWL rising can provide lateral support within the submerged zone and then produce the inward seepage force,eventually strengthening the slope ***,a rapid RWL drawdown may induce outward seepage forces and a sudden debuttressing effect,consequently reducing the effective soil normal stress and triggering partial pre-failure within the RWL fluctuation ***,partial deformation and subsequent soil structure damage generate excess pore water pressures,ultimately leading to the overall failure of the reservoir *** study also reveals that a rapid increase in the downslope driving force due to RWL drawdown significantly intensifies the lateral earth pressures exerted on the ***,the MRSPs possess a considerable reinforcement effect on the reservoir landslide,transforming the overall failure into a partial deformation and failure situated above and in front of the *** mechanical transfer behavior observed in the MRSPs demonstrates a progressive alteration in relation to RWL *** the RWL rises,the mechanical states among MRSPs exhibit a growing *** shear force transfer factor(*** ratio of shear forces on pile of the n th row to that of the first row)increases significantly with the RWL *** indicates that the mechanical states among MRSPs tend toward an enhanced *** insights gained from this study contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the failure mechanisms of reservoir landslides and the mechanical behavior of M
