Bifunctional noble-metal-free cocatalyst coating enabling better coupling of photocatalytic CO_(2)reduction and H_(2)O oxidation on direct Z-scheme heterojunction

Selective loading of spatially separated redox cocatalysts on direct Z-scheme heterojunctions holds great promise for advancing the efficiency of artificial photosynthesis,which however is limited to the photodeposition of noble metal cocatalysts and the fabrication of hollow double-shelled semiconductor ***,the co-exposure of discrete cocatalyst and semiconductor increases the product diversity when both the exposed sites of which participate in CO_(2)***,we present a facile and versatile protocol to overcome these limitations via surface coating of Z-scheme heterojunctions with bifunctional noble-metal-free *** Cu_(2)O/Fe_(2)O_(3)(CF)as a model heterojunction and layered Ni(OH)_(2)as a model cocatalyst,it is found that Ni(OH)_(2)lying on the surfaces of Cu_(2)O and Fe_(2)O_(3)separately co-catalyzes the CO_(2)reduction and H_(2)O *** experimental and theoretical investigation reveals that the Ni(OH)_(2)outer layer:(i)mitigates the charge recombination in CF and balances their transfer and consumption;(ii)reduces the rate-determining barriers for CO_(2)-to-CO and H_(2)O-to-O_(2)conversion,(iii)suppresses the side proton reduction occurring on CF,and(iv)protects the CF from component *** expected,the redox reactions stoichiometrically proceed,and significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity,selectivity,and stability in CO generation are achieved by the stacked Cu_(2)O/Fe_(2)O_(3)@Ni(OH)_(2)in contrast to *** study demonstrates the significance of the synergy between bifunctional cocatalysts and Z-scheme heterojunctions for improving the efficacy of overall redox reactions,opening a fresh avenue for the rational design of artificial photosynthetic systems.

Accelerating the breaking of the nitrogen nonpolar bond(N≡N)is an important factor to improve the effi ciency of the electro-catalytic nitrogen reduction reaction(e-NRR).In this work,polyoxometalates-derived FeMo-based ternary oxide materials MoO_(2)-Mo_(4)O_(11)-FeMoO_(4)@X(abbreviated as MoFeO@X,X represents the synthesis temperature of 650,750 and 850℃)were designed and synthesized for e-NRR under ambient *** scanning electron microscopy images of MoFeO@750 show an ellipsoidal-like structure(0.86×0.6μm).The relatively large specifi c surface area,formation of multiple interfaces,together with the synergistic eff ect of iron and molybdenum bimetals,would make MoFeO@X catalyst more easily absorb and activate N_(2)in the ***,the synthesized MoFeO@750 shows an optimal NH_(3)production rate of 16.57μg·h^(−1)·mg cat.^(−1)and Faradaic effi ciency of 12.33%at−0.3 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode(ν***),with outstanding electrochemical and structural stability.

Analysis of long-term outcome of modified gastric bypass for type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese patients

BACKGROUND Bariatric and metabolic surgery have been routinely performed following the rapid increase in obesity and metabolic diseases *** all evolving procedures,Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(RYGB)is considered the gold standard for surgical treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and *** was introduced in China nearly 20 years ago,but the number of RYGB surgeries only accounts for 3.1%of the total number of weight loss and metabolic surgeries in China,it’s effect on Chinese people still needs further *** To investigate the effect and safety of a modified gastric bypass performed in Chinese patients with *** Patients with obesity and T2DM who underwent modified gastric bypass,with>5-year follow-up data,were *** All 37 patients underwent uneventful laparoscopic surgery,no patient was switched to laparotomy during the surgery,and no severe complications were *** weight and body mass index of the patients reduced from 84.6±17.3(60.0–140.0)kg and 30.9±5.0(24.7–46.2)kg/m2 to 67.1±12.2(24.7–46.2)kg and 24.6±3.9(17.7–36.5)kg/m2,respectively,and fasting plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobin decreased from 7.4±3.4 mmol/L and 8.2%±1.7%preoperatively to 6.5±1.3 mmol/L and 6.5%±0.9%5-years postoperatively,*** 29.7%(11/37)of the patients used hypoglycemic drugs 5-years postoperatively,and the complete remission rate of T2DM was 29.7%(11/37).Triglyceride level reduced significantly but high-density lipoprotein increased significantly(both P<0.05)compared with those during the preoperative *** and renal function improved significantly postoperatively,and binary logistic regression analysis revealed that the patients’preoperative history of T2DM and fasting C-peptide were significant prognostic factors influencing complete T2DM remission after RYGB(P=0.006 and 0.012,respectively).CONCLUSION The modified gastric bypass is a safe and feasible procedure for Chinese patients with obesity an

Objective:Lindqvist-type polyoxometalates(POMs)exhibit potential antitumor *** study aimed to examine the effects of Lindqvist-type POMs against breast cancer and the underlying ***:Using different cancer cell lines,the present study evaluated the antitumor activities of POM analogues that were modified at the body skeleton based on molybdenum-vanadium-centered negative oxygen ion polycondensations with different side *** colony formation assay,autophagy detection,mitochondrial observation,qRT-PCR,Western blotting,and animal model were used to evaluate the antitumor activities of POMs against breast cancer cells and the related ***:MO-4,a Lindqvist-type POM linking a proline at its side strain,was selected for subsequent experiments due to its low half maximal inhibitory concentration in the inhibition of proliferation of breast cancer *** was found that MO-4 induced the apoptosis of multiple types of breast cancer ***,MO-4 activated intracellular mitophagy by elevating mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels and resulting in *** vivo,breast tumor growth and distant metastasis were significantly reduced following MO-4 ***:Collectively,the results of the present study demonstrated that the novel Lindqvist-type POM MO-4 may exhibit potential in the treatment of breast cancer.

Effective protection against X-ray is the premise of utilizing the X-ray,thus it is critical to develop novel X-ray shield-ing materials with both low density and high X-ray attenuation *** the even distribution of high-Z element components is of great significance for increasing the attenuation efficiency of X-ray shielding materials,in this study,the microfiber membrane(MFM),a type of synthetic leather featuring hierarchical structure was chosen to provide large surface area for the dispersion of rare earth(RE)***,plant polyphenol was utilized to achieve the stable loading and uniform dispersion of the Ce or Er into *** from the assistance of polyphenol and hierarchical structure of MFM,the even dispersion of RE element was successfully *** resultant shielding materials displayed approximately 10％superior X-ray attenuation efficiency compared to that without polyphenol,and an averagely 9％increment in X-ray attenuation efficiency than that without hierarchical ***,the obtained composite with a thickness of 2.8 mm displayed superior X-ray shielding performance compared to 0.25 mm lead sheet in 16-83 keV and retained an ultralow density of 1.4 g *** research results would shed new light on the manufacture of high-performance X-ray shielding materials with excellent X-ray shielding performance.

Mechanisms of vacuolar phosphate efflux supporting soybean root hair growth in response to phosphate deficiency

Phosphorus is an essential macronutrient for plant growth and *** response to phosphate(Pi)deficiency,plants rapidly produce a substitutive amount of root hairs;however,the mechanisms underlying Pi supply for root hair growth remain ***,we observed that soybean(Glycine max)plants maintain a consistent level of Pi within root hairs even under external Pi *** therefore investigated the role of vacuole-stored Pi,a major Pi reservoir in plant cells,in supporting root hair growth under Pi-deficient *** findings indicated that two vacuolar Pi efflux(VPE)transporters,GmVPE1 and GmVPE2,remobilize vacuolar stored Pi to sustain cytosolic Pi content in root hair *** analysis showed that double mutants of GmVPE1 and GmVPE2 exhibited reduced root hair growth under low Pi ***,GmVPE1 and GmVPE2 were highly expressed in root hairs,with their expression levels significantly upregulated by low Pi *** analysis revealed that GmRSL2(ROOT HAIR DEFECTIVE 6-like 2),a transcription factor involved in root hair morphogenesis,directly binds to the promoter regions of GmVPE1 and GmVPE2,and promotes their expressions under low Pi ***,mutants lacking both GmRSL2 and its homolog GmRSL3 exhibited impaired root hair growth under low Pi stress,which was rescued by overexpressing either GmVPE1 or *** together,our study has identified a module comprising vacuolar Pi exporters and transcription factors responsible for remobilizing vacuolar Pi to support root hair growth in response to Pi deficiency in soybean.

In this work,we give some criteria of the weakly compact sets and a representation theorem of Riesz's type in Musielak sequence spaces using the ideas and techniques of sequence spaces and Musielak ***,as an immediate consequence of the criteria considered in this paper,the criteria of the weakly compact sets of Orlicz sequence spaces are deduced.
