BACKGROUND Plasma cell myeloma(PCM)is characterized by hypercalcemia,renal impairment,anemia,and bone *** pleural effusion,ascites,abdominal pain,and bloody stool are common manifestations of lung disease or gastrointestinal disorders,they are rarely observed in patients with *** SUMMARY A 66-year-old woman presented with complaints of recurrent chest tightness,wheezing,and abdominal bloating accompanied by bloody *** tomography revealed pleural effusion and *** effusion tests showed inflammation,but the T-cell spot test and carcinoembryonic antigen were *** showed colonic mucosal edema with ulcer formation and local intestinal lumen *** revealed enlarged atria and reduced left ventricular systolic *** diagnosis remained *** testing revealed elevated blood light chain lambda and urine immunoglobulin *** immunofixation electrophoresis was positive for immunoglobulin G lambda *** cytology of the bone marrow showed a high proportion of plasma cells,accounting for about 4.5%.Histopathological examination of the bone marrow suggested *** cytometry showed abnormal plasma cells with strong expression of CD38,CD138,cLambda,CD28,CD200,and *** in situ hybridization gene testing of the bone marrow suggested 1q21 gene amplification,but cytogenetic testing showed no clonal *** mucosa and bone marrow biopsy tissues were negative for Highman Congo red *** patient was finally diagnosed with *** A diagnosis of PCM should be considered in older patients with pleural effusion,ascites,and multi-organ injury.

Combustion mechanism of benzene in iron ore sintering process:experimental and simulation

Benzene is a typical component of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in the iron ore sintering flue *** combustion behavior of benzene directly affects the emission of VOCs in iron ore sintering *** effects of temperature,benzene,and oxygen concentrations on the conversion ratio of benzene were investigated by experiments and numerical *** experiments were carried out in a tube reactor at temperatures of 773-1098 K,benzene concentrations of 0.01-0.03 vol.%,and oxygen concentrations of 10-21 vol.%.The numerical simulation was performed with the plug flow model in the CHEMKIN program based on a kinetic model that consists of 132 chemical species and 772 elementary step-like *** experimental results reveal that increasing the temperature and benzene concentration could signifi-cantly promote benzene *** is attributed to the increase in the reaction rates of all steps in the pathway for forming CO_(2)and H_(2)*** addition,due to the large equivalent ratio of oxygen to benzene,the conversion ratio of benzene remained constant at different oxygen *** simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental results and indicated that six elementary reactions dominated the formations of CO_(2)and H_(2)*** oxidations of C_(6)H_(5)O,CO,and C_(5)H_(4)O intermediates to CO_(2)were the limiting steps in the reaction pathways.

Fluoro-functionalized plant biomass adsorbent:Preparation and application in extraction of trace perfluorinated compounds from environmental water samples

Perfuorinated compounds(PFCs)are toxic and widely present in the environment,and therefore effective adsorbents are required to remove PFCs from environmental *** the present study,a new type of fuorinated biomass materials was synthesized via an ingenious fuorosilanization *** adsorbents were applied for the adsorption of 13typical PFCs,including perfuorocarboxylic acids(PFCAs)and perfuorosulfonic acids(PFSAs).By comparing their adsorption performance,Fluorinated cedar slag(FCS)was discovered to have the best absorption efficiency and enabled highly efficient enrichment of *** adsorption recovery of FCS with the investigated PFCs is greater than 90%under the optimal adsorption *** to the high affinity of F-F sorbent-sorbate interaction,FCS had good adsorption capacities of PFCs from aqueous solution,with the maximum adsorption capacity of 15.80 mg/g for PFOS and 10.71 mg/g for PFOA,***,the adsorption time could be achieved in a short time(8 min).Using the FCS absorbent,an innovative FCS-solid phase extraction assisted with high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray-tandem mass spectrometry(FCS-SPE-HPLC-ESI-MS/MS)method was first developed to sensitively detect PFCs in the environmental water *** intra-day and inter-day recovery rates of the 13 compounds ranged from 90.7%-104.3%,with the RSD of 2.1%-4.7%(intra-day)and 2.5%-8.5%(inter-day),*** research demonstrates the potential of the newly fuoro-functionalized plant biomass to adsorb PFCs from environmental water,with the advantages of high adsorption efficiencies,high antiinterference,easy operation and low economic cost.

Communication Resource-Efficient Vehicle Platooning Control With Various Spacing Policies

Platooning represents one of the key features that connected automated vehicles may possess as it allows multiple automated vehicles to be maneuvered cooperatively with small headways on roads. However, a critical challenge in accomplishing automated vehicle platoons is to deal with the effects of intermittent and sporadic vehicle-to-vehicle data transmissions caused by limited wireless communication resources. This paper addresses the co-design problem of dynamic event-triggered communication scheduling and cooperative adaptive cruise control for a convoy of automated vehicles with diverse spacing policies. The central aim is to achieve automated vehicle platooning under various gap references with desired platoon stability and spacing performance requirements, while simultaneously improving communication efficiency. Toward this aim, a dynamic event-triggered scheduling mechanism is developed such that the intervehicle data transmissions are scheduled dynamically and efficiently over time. Then, a tractable co-design criterion on the existence of both the admissible event-driven cooperative adaptive cruise control law and the desired scheduling mechanism is derived. Finally, comparative simulation results are presented to substantiate the effectiveness and merits of the obtained results.

Cadherin 11 Expression Correlates with Pancreatic Carcinogenesis and Clinical Stage in Patients with Pancreatic Cancer

Objective: The main purpose was to investigate expression of CDH11 in pancreatic tissues and analyze its relations with clinical characteristics of patients with pancreatic cancer (PC). Methods: Expression of CDH11 in cancerous tissues and cancer adjacent tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry staining, and their associations with clinical characteristics were analyzed. The text mining methods were used to assist the study of the effect of CDH11 on prognosis. Results: A total of 79 patients with PC were enrolled in the study, including 51 (64.6%) men and 28 (35.4%) women with a median age of 62 (41 - 84). The CDH11 expression in cancerous tissues was higher than that in adjacent tissues and the expression of CDH11 in both tissues was positively correlated (P 0.999;stage II vs III & IV, P = 0.308). A higher level of CDH11 expression correlated with worse overall survival (OS) time (P = 0.015). Conclusion: CDH11 may be involved in the development of early PC and lead to poor prognosis and could be a new target molecule for early diagnosis and treatment of PC.

Developing earth-abundant electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is important for the sustainable energy ***,efficient and stable heterocatalysts consisting of crystalline-amorphous M@MN_(x)(M=Co,Fe,Ni)encapsulated in N-doped carbon layers supported with N-doped graphene sheets(denoted as M@MN_(x)@NC-NG)are synthesized by facile hydrothermal reaction and nitridation *** the nitriding process,metal ions in M(tzbc)_2(H_(2)O)_4(tzbc=4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzoic acid)complexes are reduced to crystalline M cores,accompanied by the formation of amorphous MN_(x)shells;the tzbc ligands are insitu carbonized to form outermost N-doped carbon(NC)layers that connect with inner MN_(x)via M-N-C motifs inherited from the complex precursors and inhibit the transition of MN_(x)from amorphous to crystalline *** Co@CoN_(x)@NC-NG catalyst exhibits excellent HER activity with small overpotentials of 45 and 64 mV at a cathode current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2)and low Tafel slopes of 40 and 85 mV·dec^(-1)in 0.5 mol·L^(-1)H_(2)SO_4 and1.0 mol·L^(-1)KOH electrolytes,*** Co@CoN_(x)@NC-NG retains 97%of the initial overpotential after 100,000 s in both acidic and alkaline *** outstanding HER performance originates from the crystalline-amorphous Co@CoN_(x)that redistributes electrons around the heterointerfaces,facilitating the conversion process of H^(+)/H_(2)O to hydrogen and thereby promoting HER *** outermost NC layers serve as the armor of Co@CoN_(x),and graphene nanosheets act as carriers of egg-like Co@CoN_(x)@NC and conduction paths for electron shuttles,ensuring stable and continuous electrocatalytic hydrogen production.

Controlled flight of a self-powered micro blimp driven by insect-sized flapping-wing thrusters

Micro aerial platforms face significant challenges in achieving long controlled endurance as most of the energy is consumed to overcome the weight of the *** this study,we present a controllable micro blimp that addresses this issue through the use of a helium-filled *** micro blimp has a long axis of 23 cm and is propelled by four insect-sized flapping-wing thrusters,each weighing 80 mg and with a wingspan of 3.5 *** distributed thrusters enable controlled motions and provide the micro blimp with an advantage in flight endurance compared to multirotors or flapping-wing micro aerial vehicles at the same size *** enhance the performance of the controlled flight,we propose a wireless control module that enables manipulation from a distance of up to 100 ***,a smartphone application is developed to send instructions to the circuit board,allowing the blimp to turn left and right,ascend and descend,and achieve a combination of these movements *** findings demonstrate that this micro blimp is one of the smallest controlled self-powered micro blimps to date.

To address the challenge of achieving both high sensitivity and a high quality factor in quartz crystal microbalance(QCM)humidity sensors,a nanodiamond(ND)/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was *** material characteristics of ND,Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene,and ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)*** experimental results demonstrated that the hydrophilic ND nanoparticles coated on Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene nanosheet prevented the self-stacking of Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene and enhanced the sensitivity of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene-based QCM humidity ***,the high mechanical modulus of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene material helped ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor to achieve a high quality factor(>20,000).ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene compositecoated QCM humidity sensor exhibited a sensitivity of 82.45 Hz/%RH,a humidity hysteresis of 1.1%RH,fast response/recovery times,acceptable repeatability,and good stability from 11.3%RH to 97.3%*** response mechanism of ND/Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was analyzed in combination with a bi-exponential kinetic adsorption ***,the potential application of ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was demonstrated through its frequency response to wooden blocks with different moisture contents.

Spontaneous Recovery in Directed Dynamical Networks

Complex networked systems,which range from biological systems in the natural world to infrastructure systems in the human-made world,can exhibit spontaneous recovery after a failure;for example,a brain may spontaneously return to normal after a seizure,and traffic flow can become smooth again after a *** studies on the spontaneous recovery of dynamical networks have been limited to undirected ***,most real-world networks are *** fill this gap,we build a model in which nodes may alternately fail and recover,and we develop a theoretical tool to analyze the recovery properties of directed dynamical *** find that the tool can accurately predict the final fraction of active nodes,and the prediction accuracy decreases as the fraction of bidirectional links in the network increases,which emphasizes the importance of directionality in network *** to different initial states,directed dynamical networks may show alternative stable states under the same control parameter,exhibiting hysteresis *** addition,for networks with finite sizes,the fraction of active nodes may jump back and forth between high and low states,mimicking repetitive failure-recovery *** findings could help clarify the system recovery mechanism and enable better design of networked systems with high resilience.

Scattering of Water Waves by Dual Symmetric Inclined Floating Porous Barriers Using the DBEM
