Influence of severe neck angulation on hemodynamic and clinical outcomes following endovascular aneurysm repair:a hemodynamic analysis and a retrospective cohort study

Background: For patients with severe neck angulation (SNA), hemodynamic and clinical outcomes following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) are still unclear. This study aimed to explore the influence of SNA on hemodynamic and clinical outcomes following EVAR.Methods: This study included a hemodynamic analysis and a retrospective cohort study from West China Hospital of Sichuan University between January 2011 and December 2020. The Cox regression model, inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) analysis, sensitivity analysis, and subgroup analysis were applied. Primary outcome was type IA endoleak (T1AEL).Results: In this hemodynamic analysis, nine non-severe neck angulation (nSNA) and 16 SNA idealized models were constructed. We found a significant difference in drag force between SNA and nSNA models (7.016 ± 2.579 Nvs. 4.283 ± 1.460 N,P = 0.008), and proximal neck angles were significantly associated with the magnitude of drag force (F = 0.082 ×α-0.006 ×β + 2.818, α: 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.070-0.094;P = 0.001;β: 95% CI -0.019 to 0.007;P = 0.319). In our cohort study, 514 nSNA patients (71.5 ± 8.5 years;459 males) and 208 SNA patients (72.5 ± 7.8 years;135 males) were included, with a median follow-up duration of 34 months (16-63 months). All baseline characteristics were well balanced after IPTW matching. We found that SNA was associated with a significant risk of adverse limb event (hazard ratio [HR] 2.18, 95% CI 1.09-3.12), yet was not associated with T1AEL, overall survival, or reintervention. In patients without proximal or distal additional procedures (DAP), subgroup analyses suggested a significant risk of T1AEL (Proximal: HR 5.25, 95% CI 1.51-18.23;Distal: HR 5.07, 95% CI 1.60-16.07) and adverse limb event (Proximal: HR 2.27, 95% CI 1.01-5.07;Distal: HR 2.91, 95% CI 1.30-6.54) in SNA patients. c-MYC-mediated TRIB3/P62^(+) aggresomes accumulation triggers paraptosis upon the combination of everolimus and ginsenoside Rh2

The mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR) pathway is abnormally activated in lung cancer.However, the anti-lung cancer effect of m TOR inhibitors as monotherapy is modest. Here, we identified that ginsenoside Rh2, an active component of Panax ginseng C. A. Mey., enhanced the anti-cancer effect of the m TOR inhibitor everolimus both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, ginsenoside Rh2 alleviated the hepatic fat accumulation caused by everolimus in xenograft nude mice models. The combination of everolimus and ginsenoside Rh2(labeled Eve-Rh2) induced caspase-independent cell death and cytoplasmic vacuolation in lung cancer cells, indicating that Eve-Rh2 prevented tumor progression by triggering paraptosis. EveRh2 up-regulated the expression of c-MYC in cancer cells as well as tumor tissues. The increased cMYC mediated the accumulation of tribbles homolog 3(TRIB3)/P62+ aggresomes and consequently triggered paraptosis, bypassing the classical c-MYC/MAX pathway. Our study offers a potential effective and safe strategy for the treatment of lung cancer. Moreover, we have identified a new mechanism of TRIB3/P62+ aggresomes-triggered paraptosis and revealed a unique function of c-MYC.

Synthesis and Analysis of Tm^(3+) Doped YF_3 Upconversion Luminescent Nano-materials

Upconversion （UC） phosphor Tm3＋ doped YF3 nano-erystals were prepared by hydrothermal method under different conditions and characterized by Field Transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and X-ray diffraction （XRD）. Their UC luminescence properties were studied by fluorescence spectrophotometer with 980 nm diode laser excitation, and impact of different grain sizes and morphology on the UC luminescence intensity was discussed. The fluorescence decay lifetime was calculated by Multi-exponential function fitting method. Results show that UC emission intensity was enhanced with the reduction of grain size, and the decay lifetime is 0.60 us.

The Chinese herbal prescription JieZe-1 inhibits caspase-1-dependent pyroptosis induced by herpes simplex virus-2 infection in vitro

Objective:JieZe-1(JZ-1),a Chinese herbal prescription,has an obvious effect on genital herpes,which is mainly caused by herpes simplex virus type 2(HSV-2).Our study aimed to address whether HSV-2 induces pyroptosis of VK2/E6E7 cells and to investigate the anti-HSV-2 activity of JZ-1 and the effect of JZ-1 on caspase-1-dependent pyroptosis.Methods:HSV-2-infected VK2/E6E7 cells and culture supernate were harvested at different time points after the infection.Cells were co-treated with HSV-2 and penciclovir(0.078125 mg/mL)or caspase-1 inhibitor VX-765(24 h pretreatment with 100μmol/L)or JZ-1(0.078125-50 mg/mL).Cell counting kit-8 assay and viral load analysis were used to evaluate the antiviral activity of JZ-1.Inflammasome activation and pyroptosis of VK2/E6E7 cells were analyzed using microscopy,Hoechst 33342/propidium iodide staining,lactate dehydrogenase release assay,gene and protein expression,coimmunoprecipitation,immunofluorescence,and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results:HSV-2 induced pyroptosis of VK2/E6E7 cells,with the most significant increase observed 24 h after the infection.JZ-1 effectively inhibited HSV-2(the 50%inhibitory concentration=1.709 mg/mL),with the 6.25 mg/mL dose showing the highest efficacy(95.76%).JZ-1(6.25 mg/mL)suppressed pyroptosis of VK2/E6E7 cells.It downregulated the inflammasome activation and pyroptosis via inhibiting the expression of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domaincontaining protein 3(P<0.001)and interferon-γ-inducible protein 16(P<0.001),and their interactions with apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase recruitment domain,and reducing cleaved caspase-1 p20(P<0.01),gasdermin D-N(P<0.01),interleukin(IL)-1β(P<0.001),and IL-18 levels(P<0.001).Conclusion:JZ-1 exerts an excellent anti-HSV-2 effect in VK2/E6E7 cells,and it inhibits caspase-1-dependent pyroptosis induced by HSV-2 infection.These data enrich our understanding of the pathologic basis of HSV-2 infection and provide experimental evidence for the anti-

XRD Analysis on the Fluorescence Material of Sm Doped Si-Ca-Mg System

Fluorescence material of Sm doped Si-Ca-Mg system was synthesized by using the method of solid phase reaction at high temperature. The phase composition and crystal structure of this material were analyzed with XRD method for its composition and the existence form of Sm atom. We aimed to exactly determine the phase composition of this fluorescence material and the doping position and environment of rare-earth Sm atom in the system because these factors have significant effects on the properties. The analytical results show that the Sm atoms dope in Ca2O26Si6Sm8 lattice in the form of atomic site-occupation in three different space positions with different occupancy rates. Therefore, based on the XRD analytical results, the fluorescence material of Sm doped Si-Ca-Mg system with high performance can be synthesized.

Defects boost graphitization for highly conductive graphene films

Fabricating highly crystalline macroscopic films with extraordinary electrical and thermal conductivities from graphene sheets is essential for applications in electronics,telecommunications and thermal management.High-temperature graphitization is the only method known to date for the crystallization of all types of carbon materials,where defects are gradually removed with increasing temperature.However,when using graphene materials as precursors,including graphene oxide,reduced graphene oxide and pristine graphene,even lengthy graphitization at 3000℃ can only produce graphene films with small grain sizes and abundant structural disorders,which limit their conductivities.Here,we show that high-temperature defects substantially accelerate the grain growth and ordering of graphene films during graphitization,enabling ideal AB stacking as well as a 100-fold,64-fold and 28-fold improvement in grain size,electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity,respectively,between 2000℃ and 3000℃.This process is realized by nitrogen doping,which retards the lattice restoration of defective graphene,retaining abundant defects such as vacancies,dislocations and grain boundaries in graphene films at a high temperature.With this approach,a highly ordered crystalline graphene film similar to highly oriented pyrolytic graphite is fabricated,with electrical and thermal conductivities(～2.0×104S cm-1;～1.7×103W m-1K-1) that are improved by about 6-and 2-fold,respectively,compared to those of the graphene films fabricated by graphene oxide.Such graphene film also exhibits a superhigh electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness of ～90 dB at a thickness of 10 μm,outperforming all the synthetic materials of comparable thickness including MXene films.This work not only paves the way for the te chnological application of highly conductive graphene films but also provides a general strategy to efficiently improve the synthesis and properties of other carbon materials such as graphene fibers,carbon nanotube fibers,carbon fibers,polym

Effects of high-frequency cyclic loading on the banded ferrite-pearlite steel were analyzed through crack initiation and propagation. Interfaces of ferrite and pearlite colony with a small angle deviation from the loading axis were verified to be the most potential sites to fabricate the microcracks caused by the high strain gradient. The initial crack extension inside ferrite grain was driven by shear stress in model II along the direction with a 45° angle to the loading axis. Banded pearlite colony and the high-angle grain boundaries were considered as the dominant factors that promote the fatigue resistance of the material through arousing crack deflection in short crack propagation range and crack branching in long crack propagation range to reduce the crack propagation driving force in the crack tip. P-S-N curves were used to quantify the dispersion of fatigue lifetimes and evaluate the effect of elevated volume content of pearlite colony on the fatigue performance of the material.

Effect of Multi-Hydroxyl Polymer-Treated MUF Resin on the Mechanical Properties of Particleboard Manufactured with Reed Straw

The poor bonding performance between aqueous adhesives represented by melamine-urea formaldehyde(MUF)resins and reed straw hinders their applications in the field of non-wood-based panels.Multi-hydroxyl polymers are highly reactive and are often used as crosslinkers.This study fabricated a resin with a strengthened crosslinked structure by combining a multi-hydroxyl polymer and MUF resin prepolymer.The reed particleboard was prepared by using this resin as an adhesive and reed stalk as the matrix.The results show that neighboring molecules combined to form C–O–C bonds that strengthened the cross-linked structure of the resin.In addition,the viscosity of the resin was increased,and a continuous adhesive layer on the surface of reed particles was formed,which slowed the penetration of reed particles.The adhesive layer significantly improved the mechanical properties of the reed particleboard.The maximum modulus of rupture(MOR),modulus of elasticity(MOE),and internal bonding strength(IB)of the reed particleboard were 33.53,4126,and 0.79 MPa,respectively.The IB of the board was 3.3 times higher than that of the reed particleboard prepared with a conventional MUF resin.Reed straw is a non-wood biomass material that has the advantage of sustainable development and may replace woodbased materials to produce particleboard.This resin-prepared reed particleboard is expected to be used in areas such as custom furniture and engineering materials.

Causal relationship association of cheese intake with gestational hypertension and diabetes result from a Mendelian randomization study

BACKGROUND The evidence from observational studies has been inconclusive on the causal relationship between cheese intake and gestational hypertension or diabetes.AIM To determine whether cheese consumption was causally related to hypertension and diabetes during pregnancy.METHODS This was a two-sample Mendelian randomized(MR)study.Summary-level genetic data for cheese intake was exposure and corresponding outcome data for gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes were extracted from the IEU OpenGWAS database.MR analysis was conducted using inverse variance weighting.For sensitivity analyses,MR-Egger regression,weighted median,weighted mode,and leave-one-out methods were conducted.A fixed-effect model was used to meta-analyze two sample MR estimates.The traits of gestational hypertension were pregnancy hypertension(123579 individuals)and oedema,proteinuria and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy,childbirth and the puerperium(123579 individuals),and traits of gestational diabetes were gestational diabetes(123579 individuals)and diabetes mellitus in pregnancy(116363 individuals),respectively.RESULTS Cheese intake per standard deviation increase has causally reduced the risks of gestational hypertension[odds ratio(OR)=0.60,95%confidence interval(CI):0.47-0.76,P0.05)nor horizontal pleiotropy(all P>0.05)in the relationship between cheese intake and gestational hypertension,but heterogeneity presented(all P<0.05)in relation to gestational diabetes in the two-sample MR analysis.CONCLUSION Cheese intake was inversely associated with gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes in MR analysis,suggesting that cheese consumption may be beneficial in preventing hypertension and diabetes during pregnancy.

Proton computed tomography(CT)has a distinct practical significance in clinical applications.It eliminates 3–5%errors caused by the transformation of Hounsfield unit(HU)to relative stopping power(RSP)values when using X-ray CT for positioning and treatment planning systems(TPSs).Following the development of FLASH proton therapy,there are increased requirements for accurate and rapid positioning in TPSs.Thus,a new rapid proton CT imaging mode is proposed based on sparsely sampled projections.The proton beam was boosted to 350 MeV by a compact proton linear accelerator(LINAC).In this study,the comparisons of the proton scattering with the energy of 350 MeV and 230 MeV are conducted based on GEANT4 simulations.As the sparsely sampled information associated with beam acquisitions at 12 angles is not enough for reconstruction,X-ray CT is used as a prior image.The RSP map generated by converting the X-ray CT was constructed based on Monte Carlo simulations.Considering the estimation of the most likely path(MLP),the prior image-constrained compressed sensing(PICCS)algorithm is used to reconstruct images from two different phantoms using sparse proton projections of 350 MeV parallel proton beam.The results show that it is feasible to realize the proton image reconstruction with the rapid proton CT imaging proposed in this paper.It can produce RSP maps with much higher accuracy for TPSs and fast positioning to achieve ultra-fast imaging for real-time image-guided radiotherapy(IGRT)in clinical proton therapy applications.
