International validation of the chinese University Prognostic Index for staging of hepatocellular carcinoma: a joint United Kingdom and Hong Kong study

The outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc) patients significantly differs between western and eastern population centers. Our group previously developed and validated the chinese University Prognostic Index(cUPI) for the prognostication of Hcc among the Asian Hcc patient population. In the current study, we aimed to validate the cUPI using an international cohort of patients with Hcc and to compare the cUPI to two widely used staging systems, the Barcelona clinic Liver cancer(BcLc) classification and the cancer of the Liver Italian Program(cLIP). To accomplish this goal, two cohorts of patients were enrolled in the United Kingdom(UK; n = 567; 2006-2011) and Hong Kong(HK; n = 517; 2007-2012). The baseline clinical data were recorded. The performances of the cUPI, BcLc, and cLIP were compared in terms of a concordance index(c-index) and were evaluated in subgroups of patients according to treatment intent. The results revealed that the median follow-up durations of the UK and HK cohorts were 27.9 and 29.8 months, respectively. The median overall survival of the UK and HK cohorts were 22.9 and 8.6 months, respectively. The cUPI stratified the patients in both cohorts into three risk subgroups corresponding to distinct outcomes. The median overall survival of the cUPI low-, intermediate-, and high-risk subgroups were 3.15, 1.24, and 0.29 years, respectively, in the UK cohort and were 2.07, 0.32, and 0.10 years, respectively, in the HK cohort. For the patients who underwent curative treatment, the prognostic performance did not differ between the three staging systems, and all were suboptimal. For those who underwent palliative treatment, the cUPI displayed the highest c-index, indicating that this staging system was the most informative for both cohorts. In conclusion, the cUPI is applicable to both western and eastern Hcc patient populations. Objective:To report the clinical maternal and fetal outcomes of pregnant women with coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19),along with any associated pregnancy complications,in Hong Kong,china,and to assess the impact of cOVID-19 vaccination on these ***:This prospective registry-based observational study included pregnant women who were recruited through convenient sampling and had a laboratory-confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection with a cycle threshold(ct)value result available on admission to eight local hospitals in Hong Kong,*** on clinical symptoms,laboratory results,medical treatments,delivery timing and mode,and pregnancy complications were extracted from the Hospital Authority’s electronic medical record ***,fetal,and pregnancy outcomes were compared between unvaccinated pregnant women with cOVID-19 and those who had received at least one dose of cOVID-19 vaccine before *** continuous variables and categorical variables were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test and the Pearson’s chi-squared test respectively.A P value less than 0.05 was considered statistically ***:A total of 164 pregnant women were included,of whom 78(47.56%)were ***-19 was diagnosed before 28 weeks’gestation in 30(18.29%),while 134(81.71%)were diagnosed at or after 28 weeks’***-two(37.80%)women received at least one dose of cOVID-19 *** were no significant differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated groups in the time interval between cOVID-19 diagnosis and delivery,the ct value,and the gestational age at infection onset or delivery(P>0.05).The majority of women were symptomatic at diagnosis regardless of vaccination status 55(88.71%)in vaccinated group vs.78(76.47%)in unvaccinated group(P=0.052).Symptoms did not significantly differ between groups except for cough(62.90%vs.47.06%,P=0.049).The overall rate of severe cOVID-19 in pregnant women was *** t

AT2021lfa,also known as ZTF21aayokph,was detected by the Zwicky Transient Facility on 2021 May 4,a 05:34:48 ***-up observations were conducted using a range of ground-based optical telescopes,as wel as Swift/XRT and VLA ***2021lfa is classified as an“orphan afterglow”candidate due to its rapid flux decline and its reddened color(g-r=0.17±0.14 mag).For an optical transient source without promp gamma-ray detection,one key point is to determine its burst *** we measure the burst time through fitting the initial bump feature of AT2021lfa and obtain its burst time as 2021 May 3,at 22:09:50 *** afterglowpy,we model the multi-band afterglow of AT2021lfa and find that the standard model canno reproduce the late radio observations *** that the microphysical parameters ε_(e),ε_(B)(the energy fraction given to electrons and magnetic field),andξN(the fraction of accelerated electrons)may vary with time we then model the afterglow of AT2021lfa taking into account the temporal evolution of the physical parameters ε_(e),ε^(B),and ξ_(N) and find in this case the multi-wavelength observations can be reproduced *** initial Lorentz factor of AT2021lfa can be estimated from the peak time of the early afterglow,which yields a value of about 18 suggesting that AT2021lfa should be classified as a“dirty fireball.”From the upper limit for the prompt emission energy of AT2021lfa,we obtain that the radiation efficiency is less than 0.02%,which is much smaller than that of ordinary gamma-ray bursts(GRBs).It is also interesting that the fitted values of jet angle and viewing angle are very large,θ_(c)~0.66 rad,θ_(v)~0.53 rad,which may lead to the low Lorentz factor and radiation *** compared with GRB afterglow samples,it is evident that the onset bump timescale of AT2021lfa satisfies the empirical relationships observed in GRB ***,the luminosity of AT2021lfa falls within the range of observations for GRB samples;howeve

We investigate the uniqueness problems of meromorphic functions and their difference operators by using a new *** is proved that if a non-constant meromorphic function f shares a non-zero constant and ∞ counting multiplicities with its difference operators Δcf(z) and Δ_(c)^(2)f(z), thenΔcf(z)≡Δ_(c)^(2)f(z).In particular,we give a difference analogue of a result of *** method has two distinct features:(ⅰ) It converts the relations between functions into the corresponding *** makes it possible to deal with the uniqueness problem by linear algebra and combinatorics.(ⅱ) It circumvents the obstacle of the difference logarithmic derivative lemma for meromorphic functions of infinite order,since this method does not depend on the growth of the ***,the idea in this paper can also be applied to the case for several variables.
