A Fourteen-Year Climatology of the Southwest Vortex in Summer

Statistical studies were conducted on the southwest vortex(SWV) during the summers of 2000–13 using high-resolution reanalysis data with a horizontal resolution of 0.5°× 0.5°. A total of 578 SWVs were detected, with a maximum interannual frequency of 55. The variation of the interannual frequency featured a period of around six years. The most active period of SWVs was early July and the maximum occurrence of SWVs appeared in early morning(0200–0800 Beijing Standard Time(BST)). Most of the SWVs were short-lived, with only 66 cases(11.4%) lasting for more than 24 h. In addition, the moving tracks and three-dimensional shape of long-lived(≥ 36 h) SWVs are also presented. For those SWVs that lasted for more than 12 h, four types of SWVs(Types I–IV) were identified using a new method, and the results indicated that the dynamical and thermodynamical conditions before the formation of SWVs are effective indicators of the subsequent evolution of the vortex and associated severe weathers. Moreover, a further level of classification was also constructed for Type II SWVs, which accounted for the largest proportion out of Types I–IV, and the results indicated that the lifespan, radius and maximum 6-h precipitation were all closely related to the intensity of precipitation before the formation of SWVs.

Cementitious property of NaAlO2-activated Ge slag as cement supplement

Germanium(Ge),a waste residue leaching from zinc(Zn)smelting process,has potential cementitious properties and could be recycled as a cement supplement activated by chemical *** this work,a test was conducted to determine the hydration properties of Ge slag-cement-based composites with Ge slag(GS)/ordinary Portland cement(PC)contents of 0wt%,5wt%,10wt%,15wt%,20wt%,and 25wt% and water-to-binder ratio(w/b)of *** activators Ca(OH)2,AlCl3,NaAlO2,and Na2CO3 were mixed under 1wt%,2wt%,3wt%,and 4wt% dosages of GS *** composition and microstructure of the hydration products were investigated by the combined approaches of X-ray diffraction(XRD),thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry(TG-DSC),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).First,the GS cementitious property is attributed to the high content of CaSO4·***,the activators affected the acceleration performance in the following order:NaAlO2,Na2CO3,AlCl3,and Ca(OH)*** importantly,the 28-day unconfined compressive strength(UCS)is 45.34 MPa at the optimum formula of 0.6wt% NaAlO2,15wt% GS,and 85wt% PC,which is 9.16% higher than the ***,NaAlO2 is beneficial for the ettringite(AFt)generation,resulting in the C-S-H structure ***,the Zn^2+ residue inhibited the AFt formation,representing an important challenge to the strength growth with curing ***,the GS could be recycled as a supplement to the cement under the activator NaAlO2.

AI-Driven FBMC-OQAM Signal Recognition via Transform Channel Convolution Strategy

With the advent of the Industry 5.0 era,the Internet of Things(IoT)devices face unprecedented proliferation,requiring higher communications rates and lower transmission *** its high spectrum efficiency,the promising filter bank multicarrier(FBMC)technique using offset quadrature amplitude modulation(OQAM)has been applied to Beyond 5G(B5G)industry IoT ***,due to the broadcasting nature of wireless channels,the FBMC-OQAMindustry IoT network is inevitably vulnerable to adversary attacks frommalicious IoT *** FBMC-OQAMindustry cognitive radio network(ICRNet)is proposed to ensure security at the physical layer to tackle the above *** a pivotal step of ICRNet,blind modulation recognition(BMR)can detect and recognize the modulation type of malicious *** previous works need to accomplish the BMR task of FBMC-OQAM signals in ICRNet nodes.A novel FBMC BMR algorithm is proposed with the transform channel convolution network(TCCNet)rather than a complicated two-dimensional ***,this is achieved by designing a low-complexity binary constellation diagram(BCD)gridding matrix as the input of ***,a transform channel convolution strategy is developed to convert the image-like BCD matrix into a serieslike data format,accelerating the BMR process while keeping discriminative *** Carlo experimental results demonstrate that the proposed TCCNet obtains a performance gain of 8%and 40%over the traditional inphase/quadrature(I/Q)-based and constellation diagram(CD)-based methods at a signal noise ratio(SNR)of 12 dB,***,the proposed TCCNet can achieve around 29.682 and 2.356 times faster than existing CD-Alex Network(CD-AlexNet)and I/Q-Convolutional Long Deep Neural Network(I/Q-CLDNN)algorithms,respectively.

Study on the Evolution of a Northeast China Cold Vortex during the Spring of 2010

Based on the final analysis data with horizontal resolution of 1°× 1°(four times a day) from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP), a typical Northeast China cold vortex(NCCV) during the spring of 2010 was examined with the quasi-Lagrange- form eddy flux circulation(EFC) budget equation. Results indicated that the mechanisms that account for the development, maintenance, and attenuation of the cyclone varied with levels and stages. Displacement of the cyclone and transports by background environmental circulations dominated the variation of the cyclone in the middle and upper levels, whereas displacement and divergence associated with the cyclone dominated the evolution of the NCCV in the middle and lower levels. Moreover, interactions between the NCCV and other subsynoptic weather systems were important for the development of the cyclone, and the pattern of background environmental circulations was also important for the evolution of the NCCV, since the cyclone enhanced(weakened) as it moved from areas of low(high) vorticity to high(low) ones.

Macular laser photocoagulation with or without intravitreal triamcinolone pretreatment for diabetic macular edema： a result from five randomized controlled trials

AIM：To assess possible benefits of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide（IVTA）injection as pretreatment for macular laser photocoagulation（MLP）in patients with diabetic macular edema（DME）.·METHODS：Published randomized controlled trials（RCTs）concerning MLP with or without IVTA pretreatment for DME were retrieved from databases CNKI,Medline,EMbase,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library.A Meta-analysis on eligible studies was conducted using Rev Man 5.0 *** investigators independently assessed the quality of the trials and extracted *** outcome measures included the change in best-corrected visual acuity（BCVA）,difference in central macular thickness（CMT）and adverse events reporting in particular elevated intraocular pressure within the follow-up *** results were pooled using weight mean difference（WMD）or odds risk（OR）with their corresponding 95%confidence intervals（CI）.A fixed-or random-effect model was employed depending on the heterogeneity of the inclusion trials.·R ESULTS：Finally,five independent RCTs were identified and used for comparing MLP with IVTA pretreatment（131 eyes）with MLP alone（133 eyes,control group）.The overall study quality was relatively higher according to the modified Jadad *** Metaanalysis showed that MLP with IVTA pretreatment significantly reduced CMT at one,three and six months（=0.002,0.0003 and 0.04,respectively）,compared with MLP *** IVTA pretreatment group showed statistically significant improvements in BCVA at the one-month follow up as compared with the control group（=0.03）.At three-and six-month follow up,there was a beneficial trend towards improving visual acuity in the IVTA pretreatment group without statistical significance between groups（=0.06 and 0.20,respectively）.The incidence of elevation of intraocular pressure was significantly higher in the IVTA pretreatment group than in the control group（〈0.0001）.No evidence of publication bias was present according to Begg’s test and Egger’s *** wa

Increased risk of emergency hospital admissions for children with renal diseases during heatwaves in Brisbane,Australia

Background:Heatwaves have a significant impact on population health including both morbidity and *** this study we examined the association between heatwaves and emergency hospital admissions(EHAs)for renal diseases in children(aged 0-14 years)in Brisbane,***:Daily data on EHAs for renal diseases in children and exposure to temperature and air pollution were obtained for Brisbane city from January 1,1996 to December 31,2005.A time-stratified case-crossover design was used to compare the risks for renal diseases between heatwave and non-heatwave ***:There were 1565 EHAs for renal diseases in children during the study *** exhibited a signifi cant impact on EHAs for renal diseases in children after adjusting for confounding factors(odds ratio:3.6;95%confidence interval:1.4-9.5).The risk estimates differed with lags and the use of different heatwave defi ***:There was a significant increase in EHAs for renal diseases in children during heatwaves in Brisbane,a subtropical city where people are well accustomed to warm *** finding may have significant implications for pediatric renal care,particularly in subtropical and tropical regions.
