Cancer,a complex and multifactorial disease,presents a significant challenge to global health.Despite significant advances in surgical,radiotherapeutic and immunological approaches,which have improved cancer treatment outcomes,drug therapy continues to serve as a key therapeutic strategy.However,the clinical efficacy of drug therapy is often constrained by drug resistance and severe toxic side effects,and thus there remains a critical need to develop novel cancer therapeutics.One promising strategy that has received widespread attention in recent years is drug repurposing:the identification of new applications for existing,clinically approved drugs.Drug repurposing possesses several inherent advantages in the context of cancer treatment since repurposed drugs are typically cost-effective,proven to be safe,and can significantly expedite the drug development process due to their already established safety profiles.In light of this,the present review offers a comprehensive overview of the various methods employed in drug repurposing,specifically focusing on the repurposing of drugs to treat cancer.We describe the antitumor properties of candidate drugs,and discuss in detail how they target both the hallmarks of cancer in tumor cells and the surrounding tumor microenvironment.In addition,we examine the innovative strategy of integrating drug repurposing with nanotechnology to enhance topical drug delivery.We also emphasize the critical role that repurposed drugs can play when used as part of a combination therapy regimen.To conclude,we outline the challenges associated with repurposing drugs and consider the future prospects of these repurposed drugs transitioning into clinical application.

Aqueous zinc-ion capacitors(ziCs)are considered as potential candidates for next generation electro-chemical energy storage devices due to their high safety and low cost.However,the existing aqueous ZiCs usually have the problems of zinc dendrite growth and unsatisfactory performance at low temper-ature.Herein,an erythritol(Eryt)additive with inhibition of zinc dendrites and anti-freezing capability was introduced into the ZnSO_(4) electrolyte.The experimental characterization and theoretical calculation confirm that the Eryt adsorbed on the surface of zinc anodes regulates the deposition orientation of Zn^(2+)and inhibits the formation of dendrites.It also reconstructs the solvation structure in the electrolyte to reduce water activity,enabling the electrolyte to have a lower freezing point for operation at low tem-perature.With the assistance of Eryt,the ZnZn symmetric cell exhibits a long cycle life of 2000 h,while the ZIC assembled with activated carbon(AC)cathode and zinc anode(ZnllAC)maintains a capacity retention of 98.2%after 30,000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g^(-1)(even after 10,000 cycles at-20°C,the capacity retention rate reached 94.8%.).This work provides a highly scalable,low-cost and effective strategy for the protection of the anodes of low-temperature aqueous ZiCs.

Negative enthalpy alloys and local chemical ordering:a concept and route leading to synergy of strength and ductility

Solid solutions are ubiquitous in metals and alloys. Local chemical ordering(LCO) is a fundamental sub-nano/nanoscale process that occurs in many solid solutions and can be used as a microstructure to optimize strength and ductility. However, the formation of LCO has not been fully elucidated, let alone how to provide efficient routes for designing LCO to achieve synergistic effects on both superb strength and ductility. Herein, we propose the formation and control of LCO in negative enthalpy alloys. With engineering negative enthalpy in solid solutions, genetic LCO components are formed in negative enthalpy refractory high-entropy alloys(RHEAs). In contrast to conventional ‘trial-and-error' approaches, the control of LCO by using engineering negative enthalpy in RHEAs is instructive and results in superior strength(1160 MPa) and uniform ductility(24.5%) under tension at ambient temperature, which are among the best reported so far. LCO can promote dislocation cross-slip, enhancing the interaction between dislocations and their accumulation at large tensile strains; sustainable strain hardening can thereby be attained to ensure high ductility of the alloy. This work paves the way for new research fields on negative enthalpy solid solutions and alloys for the synergy of strength and ductility as well as new functions.

We study the structural and dynamical properties of A209 based on Chandra and XMM-Newton observations.We obtain detailed temperature,pressure,and entropy maps with the contour binning method,and find a hot region in the NW direction.The X-ray brightness residual map and corresponding temperature profiles reveal a possible shock front in the NW direction and a cold front feature in the SE direction.Combined with the galaxy luminosity density map we propose a weak merger scenario.A young sub-cluster passing from the SE to NW direction could explain the optical subpeak,the intracluster medium temperature map,the X-ray surface brightness excess,and the X-ray peak offset together.

Analysis of HAZMAT truck driver fatigue and distracted driving with warning-based data and association rules mining

Professional drivers are more frequently exposed to longer driving distance and travel time,leading to a higher possibility of safety risk for distraction and fatigue.The widespread and common use of commercial driver monitoring systems(DMS)provides a potential for data collection.It increases the amount of data characterizing driver behavior that can be used for further safety research.This study utilized DMS warning-based data and applied an association rule mining approach to explore risk factors contributing to hazardous materials(HAZMAT)truck driver inattention.A total of 499 HAZMAT truck driver inattentive warning events were used to find rules that will predict the occurrence of driver’s fatigue and distraction.First,Fisher’s exact tests were performed to examine the association between the frequency of driver inattentive behavior warnings and risk factors.Second,support,confidence,and lift values were used as measurements to quantify the relative strength of the association rules generated by the Apriori algorithm.Results show that speed between 40and 49 km/h,relatively longer travel time(3-6 h),freeway,tangent section,off-peak hour and clear weather condition are found to be highly associated with fatigue driving,while nighttime during 18:00 to 23:59,speed between 70 and 80 km/h,travel time between 1 and 3 h,freeways,acceleration less than 0.5 m/s^(2),visibility greater than 1000 m,and tangent roadway section are found to be highly associated with distracted driving.By focusing on the specific feature groups,these association rules would help in the development of mitigating distraction and fatigue driving countermeasures and enforcement approaches.

Binary polyantimony clusters,namely[Cu_(2)Sb_(14)]^(4–) and [Ag_(2)Sb_(14)]^(4–),containing coinage metals,were successfully synthesized and characterized,in which two homoatomic Sb73–subunits are bridged by two coinage metals in η^(4):η^(1) and η^(1):η^(1) coordination modes,respectively.In[M_(2)Sb_(14)]^(4-),two bridging Cu ions and two Sb atoms form a planar rhombic unit,which was revealed to have antiaromatic properties by theoretical calculations.Further electron structure and bonding analysis confirmed the presence of delocalized bonds in the rhombic unit and the metallophilic interaction between two formal M^(+) ions.

Human Notum(hNotum)inhibitors could be used for treating Wnt signalling-associated diseases including colorectal cancer.Herein,two series of chalcone derivatives were designed and synthesized aiming to find selective and potent hNotum inhibitors.Structure–activity relationship(SAR)studies showed that 2-methoxyl and 5-bromine substitutions on A-ring significantly enhanced anti-hNotum effect,while 4’-ethoxyl and 3’-alkyl substitutions on B-ring were beneficial for hNotum inhibition.Among all tested chalcones,B11 displayed the most potent anti-Notum effect(IC_(50)=3.6 nmol/L),good selectivity,excellent chemical stability and suitable metabolic stability.Further investigations showed that B11 acted as a competitive inhibitor of hNotum,while this agent(5μmol/L)significantly weaken the migration abilities of colorectal cancer cells.Collectively,this study deciphers the SARs of chalcones as hNotum inhibitors and reports a novel and potent hNotum inhibitor with the anti-migration effect on colorectal cancer cells,which offers a promising lead compound to develop novel anti-cancer agents.

Feasibility of measuring moisture content of green sand by a low frequency multiprobe detector based on dielectric characteristics

Green sand is a mixture of silica sand,bentonite,water and coal powder,and other additives.Moisture content is an important index to characterize the properties of green sand.Based on the dielectric characteristics of green sand and transmission line theory,a method for rapidly measuring the moisture content of green sand by means of a low frequency multiprobe detector was proposed.A system was constructed,where six detectors with different arrangements and probes were designed.The experimental results showed that the voltage difference of transmission line increases with the increasing frequency before 29 MHz while decreases after 35 MHz.A voltage difference platform occurs in the range of 29-35 MHz,which is suitable for measuring the moisture content due to its insensitivity to frequency.The electric field intensity gradually decreases with the increase of the probe depth,and the intensity of central probe is always greater than that of the edge probe.When the distance of the probe away from the sand sample surface is 80 mm,the electric field intensity of the edge probe is found to be very weak.The optimal excitation frequency for measuring the moisture content of green sand is 29-33 MHz.The optimal detector is the one with one center probe and three edge probes,and their lengths are 80 mm and 60 mm,respectively.The distance between the center and edge probes is 25 mm,and the diameter of probes is 5 mm.Taking the voltage difference of transmission line,bentonite content,coal powder content and compactability as parameters of the input layer,and the moisture content as a parameter of the output layer,a three-layer BP artificial neural network model for predicting the moisture content of green sand was constructed according to the experimental results at 33 MHz.The prediction error of the model is not higher than 3.3% when the moisture content of green sand is within the range of 3wt.%-7wt.%.

Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene in-situ transformed Li_(2)TiO_(3) interface layer enabling 4.5 V-LiCoO_(2)/sulfide all-solid-state lithium batteries with superior rate capability and cyclability

All-solid-state lithium batteries(ASSLBs)based on sulfide electrolytes promise next-generation energy storage with high energy density and safety.However,the sulfide electrolytes suffer from phase instability and sluggish interfacial charge transport when pairing with layered oxide cathodes at high voltages.Herein,a simple and efficient strategy is proposed using two-dimensional Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene as starting material to in-situ construct a 15 nm Li_(2)TiO_(3) layer on a typical oxide cathode,LiCoO_(2).The in-situ transformation of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)into Li_(2)TiO_(3) layer occurs at a low temperature of 500℃,avoiding the phase deterioration of LiCoO_(2).The thin Li_(2)TiO_(3) layer is Li^(+)conducting and electrochemically stable,thereby preventing the interfacial decomposition of sulfide electrolytes induced by LiCoO_(2) at high voltages and facilitating Li+transport at the interface.Moreover,Li_(2)TiO_(3) can stabilize the layer structure of LiCoO_(2) at high voltages.Consequently,the sulfide-based ASSLB using LiCoO_(2)@Li_(2)TiO_(3) cathode can operate stably at a high voltage of up to 4.5 V(vs.Li+/Li),delivering an outstanding initial specific discharge capacity of 138.8 m Ah/g with a high capacity retention of 86.2% after 100 cycles at 0.2 C.The in-situ transformation strategy may also apply to other MXenes,offering a general approach for constructing other advanced lithiated coatings for oxide cathodes.

Retinal vascular morphological characteristics in diabetic retinopathy: an artificial intelligence study using a transfer learning system to analyze ultra-wide field images

AIM:To investigate the morphological characteristics of retinal vessels in patients with different severity of diabetic retinopathy(DR)and in patients with or without diabetic macular edema(DME).METHODS:The 239 eyes of DR patients and 100 eyes of healthy individuals were recruited for the study.The severity of DR patients was graded as mild,moderate and severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR)according to the international clinical diabetic retinopathy(ICDR)disease severity scale classification,and retinal vascular morphology was quantitatively analyzed in ultra-wide field images using RU-net and transfer learning methods.The presence of DME was determined by optical coherence tomography(OCT),and differences in vascular morphological characteristics were compared between patients with and without DME.RESULTS:Retinal vessel segmentation using RU-net and transfer learning system had an accuracy of 99%and a Dice metric of 0.76.Compared with the healthy group,the DR group had smaller vessel angles(33.68±3.01 vs 37.78±1.60),smaller fractal dimension(Df)values(1.33±0.05 vs 1.41±0.03),less vessel density(1.12±0.44 vs 2.09±0.36)and fewer vascular branches(206.1±88.8 vs 396.5±91.3),all P<0.001.As the severity of DR increased,Df values decreased,P=0.031.No significant difference between the DME and non-DME groups were observed in vascular morphological characteristics.CONCLUSION:In this study,an artificial intelligence retinal vessel segmentation system is used with 99%accuracy,thus providing with relatively satisfactory performance in the evaluation of quantitative vascular morphology.DR patients have a tendency of vascular occlusion and dropout.The presence of DME does not compromise the integral retinal vascular pattern.
