Systematic review and meta-analysis on phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors and α-adrenoceptor antagonists used alone or combined for treatment of LUTS due to BPH

The aim of this systematic review is to determine the comparative effectiveness and safety of phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors （PDE5-1s） and （x-blockers used alone or combined for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms （LUTS） due to benign prostatic hyperplasia （BPH）. An electronic search of PubMed, Cochrane Library and Embase up to January 2014 was performed to identify randomized controlled trials comparing the efficacy and safety of PDE5-Is and （x-blockers for treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia, which assessed IPSS score, maximum flow rate, postvoided residual urine, quality of life and Erectile Function （IIEF） score as outcomes. Data were analyzed by fixed or random effect models using Cochrane Collaboration review manager software. A total of 12 studies were included, Our novel data demonstrated that there was a trend that （x-blockers were more efficacious than PDE5-Is on decreasing IPSS score and increasing maximum flow rate. （x-blockers were significantly more effective than PDE5-Is on reduction of postvoided residual urine with a mean difference of 3.67 （95% CI 1.56 to 5.77, P = 0.0006） and PDE5-Is showed greater effect than （x-blockers on increasing IIEF score with a mean difference of 9.82 （95% CI 3.80 to 15.85, P = 0.001）. In conclusion, our novel data demonstrated that PDE5-Is plus ABs ranked the highest on the improvement of LUTS/BPH. PDE5-Is monotherapy was also effective in this kind of disorder except less reduction of PVR than ABs, In addition, both combined- or mono-therapy were safe.

Experimental simulation of the Unruh effect on an NMR quantum simulator

The Unruh effect is one of the most fundamental manifestations of the fact that the particle content of a field theory is observer dependent. However, there has been so far no experimental verification of this effect, as the associated temperatures lie far below any observable threshold. Recently, physical phenomena, which are of great experimental challenge, have been investigated by quantum simulations in various fields. Here we perform a proof-of-principle simulation of the evolution of ferrnionic modes under the Unruh effect with a nuclear magnetic resonance （NMR） quantum simulator. By the quantum simulator, we experimentally demonstrate the behavior of Unruh temperature with acceleration, and we fiarther investigate the quantum correlations quantified by quantum discord between two fermionic modes as seen by two relatively accelerated observers. It is shown that the quantum correlations can be created by the Unrtfia effect from the classically correlated states. Our work may provide a promising way to explore the quantum physics of accelerated systems.

PRELIMINARY STUDY ON RFLP OF MITOCHONDRIAL DNA OF CHINESE PEOPLE OF HAN NATIONALITY

During recent years, workers have done a lot of researches on restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of many different races of people residing abroad. This provides a sound basis for comparison of hereditary similarities among various races and for investigating the mechanism of heredity and variety within a race. In this report the authors give the results of preliminary study on RFLP of mtDNA of Chinese people of Han nationality with 11 restriction endonucleases that recognize 6 base pairs.

Comparison of functional outcomes after retropubic, laparoscopic and robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: A meta-analysis

AIM: To assess the 6-mo and 12-mo functional outcomes after retropubic, laparoscopic and robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy retropubic radical prostatectomy(RRP) laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(LRP); robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy(RARP). METHODS: A literature search was conducted using the Pub Med, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library and the Web of Knowledge databases updated to March, 2014 for relevant published studies. After data extraction and quality assessment via the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale or the Cochrane collaboration's tool for assessing risk ofbias, meta-analysis was performed using Rev Man 5.1. Either a random-effects model or a fixed-effects model was used. Potential publication bias was assessed using visual inspection of the funnel plots, and verified by the Egger linear regression test. RESULTS: Thirty-seven studies were identified in total: 14 articles comparing LRP with RRP, 12 articles comparing RARP with RRP, and 11 articles comparing RARP with LRP. For urinary continence, a statistically significant advantage was observed in RARP compared with LRP or RRP both at 6 mo [odds ratio(OR) = 1.93; P LRP > RRP, with a statistically significant difference at 12 mo [RARP vs LRP(OR = 1.99; P < 0.01); RARP vs RRP(OR = 2.66; P < 0.01); LRP vs RRP(OR = 1.34; P < 0.05)], respectively. Meta-regression and subgroup analyses according to adjustment of the age, body mass index, prostate volume, Gleason score or prostate-specific antigen did not vary significantly. Exit options sustain altruistic punishment and decrease the second-order free-riders, but it is not a panacea

Why do humans punish free riders at their own expense? This behavior represents an evolutionary puzzle in human societies. This study explores the role of exit strategies in fostering altruistic punishment within evolutionary game theory. We extend the traditional prisoner's dilemma model by incorporating exiters, players who opt out for a small payoff while nullifying their opponent's payoff, and altruistic punishers who cooperate and punish non-cooperators. Our findings indicate that in well-mixed populations, exiters destabilize defection but do not promote altruistic punishment. In social networks, however,exiters enable altruistic punishment via cyclic dominance among altruistic punishers, defectors, and exiters. Notably, this cyclic dominance is sensitive to exit payoffs; adjustments can lead to cyclic dominance of non-punishing cooperators, defectors, and exiters, or to a bi-stable state between these two types of cyclic dominance. These results highlight the nuanced impact of exiters on altruistic punishment, emphasizing the need for careful incentivization of exit behavior. While exiters can support altruistic punishment in networked populations, their effectiveness is not a panacea and is highly sensitive to exit payoffs, indicating limits to the voluntary participation mechanism.

采用超声波分散法,考察多壁碳纳米管(MWNTs)在氯化胆碱-丙二酸离子液体中的粒径分布,通过正交试验法优选MWNTs在离子液体中较好的分散工艺条件。结果表明,在超声t为4 h,离子液体θ为70℃,MWNTs质量浓度为3 mg/L,超声功率为380 W的分散条件下,所测MWNTs平均粒径最小,分散效果较好。采用透射电镜和稳定性实验进一步考察了MWNTs在该较优工艺条件下的分散稳定性。研究表明,MWNTs在离子液体中分散良好,且在15 h内能够稳定存在。

交通安全管理是个多层次的分级管理系统与层次化行为综合体,每一级都是个完整的系统,都有自己的控制目标和特点,而国内外交通安全管理规划往往忽视这一点,造成对策普遍存在非完美性、非灵活性和强制性等缺点。根据系统的等级性、层次性等机理,采用“物理-事理-人理”系统方法,将交通安全系统划分为“四维”体系:时间维、空间维、功能维与行为维。基于此划分,按照交通安全规划、设计、管理、维护与评价以及交通事故预防、交通安全保障、交通事故救援与交通安全管理评价两条主线对交通安全进行分级规划,并以成都市交通安全为对象进行分级规划方案设计,期望以此方法来实现交通安全有序化管理与有效管理。
