OpenSees is a well-recognized open source platform with high compatibility,and it has a well-developed fiber element method to cope with nonlinear structural *** reinforced polymer(FRP)confined concrete can effectively improve the seismic performance of concrete ***,sophisticated constitutive models for FRP confined concrete are not available in the current version of *** this paper,after reviewing several typical FRP confined concrete constitutive models,a modified constitutive model for FRP confined concrete in circular sections was proposed based on lam and Teng(2003)’s model with four main modifications including the determination of FRP rupture strain,ultimate condition,envelope shape,and hysteretic *** embed the proposed constitutive model into OpenSees is a practical solution for engineering ***,the secondary development of OpenSees New UserMat was briefly demonstrated and a set of critical steps were depicted in a flow ***,with the numerical implementations of a series of FRP confined concrete members covering a wide range of load cases,FRP confinement types and geometric properties,the utility and accuracy of the proposed model compared with lam and Teng(2003)’s model and new material secondary development in OpenSees were well validated.

Additive manufacturing(AM)is a free-form technology that shows great potential in the integrated creation of three-dimensional(3D)***,the fabrication of 3D conformal circuits that fulfill the requirements of high service temperature,high conductivity and high resolution remains a *** this paper,a hybrid AM method combining the fused deposition modeling(FDM)and hydrophobic treatment assisted laser activation metallization(lam)was proposed for manufacturing the polyetheretherketone(PEEK)-based 3D electronics,by which the conformal copper patterns were deposited on the 3D-printed PEEK parts,and the adhesion between them reached the 5B high ***,the 3D components could support the thermal cycling test from-55℃ to 125℃ for more than 100 ***,the application of a hydrophobic coating on the FDM-printed PEEK before lam can promote an ideal catalytic selectivity on its surface,not affected by the inevitable printing borders and pores in the FDM-printed parts,then making the resolution of the electroless plated copper lines improved *** consequence,Cu lines with width and spacing of only60μm and 100μm were obtained on both as-printed and after-polished PEEK ***,the potential of this technique to fabricate 3D conformal electronics was demonstrated.

Hyoscyami Semen, the mature dried seed of Hyoscyamus niger L., has long been used as a traditional Chinese medicine to treat human diseases. Hyoscyami Semen is found in local markets in China. In markets, sellers and buyers commonly inadvertently mix the seeds of H. niger with the seeds of related species such as Hygrophila salicifolia(Vahl) Nees, Astragalus complanatus R. Br., Cuscuta australis R. Br., Cuscuta chinensis lam., and Impatiens balsamina L. because of their similar morphologies or similar names. Thus, developing a reliable method for discriminating H. niger seeds from its adulterants is necessary to reduce confusion and ensure the safe use of Hyoscyami Semen. The present study was designed to evaluate the efficiency of high-resolution melting analysis combined with DNA barcoding(Bar-HRM) with internal transcribed spacer 2 to discriminate H. niger. Our results show that Bar-HRM successfully identified the adulterants and detected the proportion of H. niger DNA extract within an admixture. In particular, HRM detected H. niger DNA extract in A. complanatus DNA extract at concentrations as low as 1%. In conclusion, the Bar-HRM method developed in the present study for authenticating H. niger is rapid and cost-effective. It can be used in the future to guarantee the purity of Hyoscyami Semen for the clinical use.

Reinforcing effect of laminate structure on the fracture toughness of Al3Ti intermetallic

Metal/intermetallic laminate composites can improve the mechanical properties of intermetallic materials using metal layers. In recent years, titanium aluminide intermetallics have received increasing attention due to their excellent performance properties, such as high melting point, high specific strength and stiffness, and good corrosion resistance. However, the low fracture toughness of Al3Ti alloys at room temperature has greatly limited their application, and fiber or particle reinforcement has not shown a significant toughening effect. Research into the reinforcing effects of the interface and near-interface zone on the fracture behavior of Al3Ti is lacking. Ti/Al3Ti metal/intermetallic laminate composite was synthesized from titanium and aluminum foils using vacuum hot-pressed sintering technology. The microstructure of the prepared material was analyzed by scanning electron microscope and electron backscattered diffraction. Results illustrate that both Ti and Al3Ti were single-phase and there was a noticeable stress concentration on the interface. To obtain indentation and cracks, loads were applied to different locations of the composite by a microhardness tester. The growth path of the cracks was then observed under microscope, showing that crack propagation was prevented by the interface between the Ti and Al3Ti layers, and the cracks that propagated parallel to the laminate shifted to the interface. Fracture toughness of the different areas, including Al3Ti layers, interface, and near-interface zone, were measured by the indentation fracture method. The fracture toughness at and near the interface was 1.7 and 2 times that of the Al3Ti layers, respectively. Results indicate that crack blunting and crack front convolution by the laminate structure was primarily responsible for increased toughness.

Aims Deserts are one of the ecosystems most sensitive to global climate ***,there are few studies examining how changing abiotic and biotic factors under climate change will affect plant species diversity in the temperate deserts of *** study aimed to:(i)characterize species distributions and diversity patterns in an Asian temperate desert;and(ii)to quantify the effects of spatial and environment variables on plant species *** We surveyed 61 sites to examine the relationship between plant species diversity and several spatial/environmental variables in the Gurbantunggut *** and environmental variables were used to predict plant species diversity in separate multiple regression and ordination *** in species responses to spatial and environmental conditions was partitioned by combining these variables in a redundancy analysis(RDA)and by creating multivariate regression trees(MRT).Important Findings We found 92 plant species across the 61 *** and geographic location were the dominant environmental factors underlying variation in site species richness.A RDA indicated that 93%of the variance in the species–environment relationships was explained by altitude,latitude,longitude,precipitation and slope *** and topographic heterogeneity,through their effects on water availability,were more important than soil chemistry in determining the distribution of *** analyses categorized communities into four groups based on latitude,soil pH and elevation,explaining 42.3%of the standardized species *** pH strongly influenced community composition within homogeneous geographic *** findings suggest that precipitation and topographic heterogeneity,rather than edaphic heterogeneity,are more closely correlated to the number of species and their distributions in the temperate desert.

01Animal Wall>城市发展一直是左右雀鸟栖息及生态发展的绊脚石,不过,经过设计师略施小计,一堵既富艺术性又不会赶绝雀鸟的"动物墙壁",令英国东南部城市Cardiff的人和鸟继续在社区共存共荣。这面50米长的"动物墙壁"附设了为数一千个长方形巢穴,目的是为邻近雀鸟及蝙蝠提供安身之所。主理这项贴心设计的有心人,是长驻英国的德国籍女设计师Gitta Gschwendtner,眼见近年Cardiff Bay日渐衰落的生态环境,激起她从艺术入手,为该区新落成的一千间房屋及单位,设计出同一数目的新式巢穴。"这是一个有趣的设计方案,挑战在于如何吸引雀鸟及蝙蝠来我的人造巢穴栖息。在跟生物学家咨询过后,才明白巢穴洞口是圆是方,原来也是吸引雀鸟的关键,最终我利用一种名为woodcrete的物料为它们度身订做了四款不同尺寸的长方箱子,并以随机方式架设在混凝土墙上。"
