OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic and preventive effects of Rorrico on influenza, especially influenza A viral infection, including swine flu(H1N1)in ***: Eighty-nine subjects were recruited in Hong Kong and Macao, and divided into treatment group(TG) and prevention group(PG) based on their influenza A and swine flu symptoms. All subjects were prescribed Rorrico or placebo, and monitored by a Chinese medicine practitioner. Blood samples were collected before and after 7-day Rorrico or placebo treatment for laboratory ***: After treatment, there were some full recoveries and obvious relief of onset symptoms in the TG. Blood test results showed that Rorrico produced(a) no adverse effects on subjects' renal andliver functions, muscle enzyme and hematological status,(b) no up-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines tumour necrosis factor-a and interleukin-18 in both TG and PG,(c) mild yet statistically significant elevation of plasma mannose-binding lectin(MBL) in ***: Rorrico has no up-regulating effect on the participants' immune response, or, equally likely, the immuno-modulatory effects of Rorrico do not non-specifically or unnecessarily promote inflammation when not required. It is possible that oral administration of Rorrico can promote hepatic synthesis of MBL in healthy PG subjects, thereby conferring increased protection against infection.

We report the discovery of an isolated compact galaxy triplet SDSS J084843.45＋164417.3, which is first detected by the lamOST spectral survey and then confirmed by a spectroscopic observation of the BFOSC mounted on the 2.16 meter telescope located at Xinglong Station, which is administered by National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is found that this triplet is an iso- lated and extremely compact system, which has an aligned configuration and very small radial velocity dispersion. The member galaxies have similar colors and show marginal star formation activities. These results support the opinion that the compact triplets are well-evolved systems rather than hierarchically forming structures. This serendipitous discovery reveals the limitations of fiber spectral redshift surveys in studying such a compact system, and demonstrates the necessity of additional observations to complete the current redshift sample.

AIM： To cost-effectively express the 23-ku pE2, the most promising subunit vaccine encoded by the E2 fragment comprising of the 3＇-portion of hepatitis E virus （HEV） open reading frame 2 （ORF2） in plastids of tobacco （Nicotiana tabacum cv. SR1）, to investigate the transgene expression and pE2 accumulation in plastids, and to evaluate the antigenic effect of the plastid-derived pE2 in mice. METHODS： Plastid-targeting vector pRB94-E2 containing the E2 fragment driven by rice psbA promoter was constructed. Upon delivery into tobacco plastids, this construct could initiate homologous recombination in psaB-trnfM and trnG-psbC fragments in plastid genome, and result in transgene inserted between the two fragments. The pRB94-E2 was delivered with a biolistic particle bombardment method, and the plastid-transformed plants were obtained following the regeneration of the bombarded leaf tissues on a spectinomycin-supplemented medium. Transplastomic status of the regenerated plants was confirmed by PCR and Southern blot analysis, transgene expression was investigated by Northern blot analysis, and accumulation of pE2 was measured by ELISA. Furthermore, protein extracts were used to immunize mice, and the presence of the pE2-reactive antibodies in serum samples of the immunized mice was studied by ELISA. RESULTS： Transplastomic lines confirmed by PCR and Southern blot analysis could actively transcribe the E2 mRNA. The pE2 polypeptide was accumulated to a level as high as 13.27 μg/g fresh leaves. The pE2 could stimulate the immunized mice to generate pE2-specific antibodies. CONCLUSION： HEV-E2 fragment can be inserted into the plastid genome and the recombinant pE2 antigen derived is antigenic in mice. Hence, plastids may be a novel source for cost-effective production of HEV vaccines.

The methodological quality of subject-specific finite element analysis papers depends on the rigor of the study design and detailed description of key elements,while assessment instruments are often confined to clinical trials or *** study aims to present an instrument for methodological quality assessment of singlesubject finite element analysis used in computational orthopaedics(MQSSFE).Based upon existing instruments and relevant review papers,a pilot version was developed consisting of 37 items with 6 domains,including study design and presentation of findings,subject recruitment,model reconstruction and configuration,boundary and loading conditions(simulation),model verification and validation,and model assumption and *** interviewed four experts in the field to assess the face validity and refined the *** instrument was tested for interrater reliability among two assessors on nine finite element study ***,the criterion validity was evaluated by comparing the similarity of the MQSSFE and the modified Down and Black *** intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.965,while the MQSSFE was significantly moderately correlated with the modified Down and Black instruments(r=0.61).We believed that MQSSFE was adequately appropriate,reliable,and valid for assessing the methodological quality for finite element studies used in computational *** instrument could facilitate quality assessment in the systematic reviews of finite element models and checklists for fidelity.

The influences of rocker shoes on foot biomechanics were controversial because the interaction between two design factors—rocker angle and apex location,was usually *** study investigated the interaction effects of rocker angle and apex location on plantar foot pressure,metatarsophalangeal/ankle angle,and Achilles tendon force during *** participants performed walking trials under six rocker shoe conditions:2 rocker angles(mild and severe)×3 apex locations(distal,standard,and proximal),wherein the plantar foot pressure was measured and the movement data were processed by musculoskeletal modeling to report joint angle and Achilles tendon force.A two-way ANOVA repeated measures was used for *** interaction effects were reported in examinations of forefoot pressure,midfoot pressure,and metatarsophalangeal *** standard apex significantly reduced peak forefoot and midfoot pressures(p=0.008–0.034,Hedges'g=0.75–0.84),which was further decreased by a severe rocker angle(p=0.006,Hedges'g=0.51–0.81).Moving the apex proximally reduced Achilles tendon forces(p<0.001,Hedges'g=0.80)and facilitated both metatarsophalangeal dorsiflexion and ankle plantarflexion during push-off(p=0.003–0.006,Hedges'g=0.03–0.82).Rocker angle seemed to have fewer effects on ankle joint angle and Achilles tendon *** concluded that apex location was likely the dominant design factor of the rocker sole in influencing foot biomechanics,yet its interactions with rocker angle should be *** configuration of the two features could be varied to possess different therapeutic merits and adapt to specific application purposes.
