Salt Tolerance of 15 Rice （Oryza sativa L.） Varieties in the Office du Niger Zone of m.li

From.2003 to 2005, in pot and field experim.nts, rice response to salinity stress of 15 rice varieties was studied at germ.nation and young seedling stages using salt affected soils collected from.rice production areas in the Office du Niger zone of m.li. The rice varieties were com.osed of 10 rice genotypes from.the breeding program.of m.li and five from.West African Rice Developm.nt Association （WARDA） program.（Saint Louis, Senegal）. Soil sam.les were collected from.the visually affected soils which were characterized by the appearance of white or black efflorescence on the soil surface. In pot experim.nts, the genotypes were allowed to germ.nate in both affected soil types （white efflorescence and black efflorescence） and salt effects on plant seedling growth were observed. Results showed that all varieties were significantly sensitive to salinity stress based on germ.nation, young seedling shoot and root dry weights. Am.ng the rice varieties, the m.st salt tolerant variety was BG90-2 （a high yielding genotype from.the Institut d＇Econom.e Rurale （IER） breeding program. while the m.st sensitive variety was Telim.ni （also from.the breeding program.of IER）. All other varieties were interm.diary between these two genotypes. A three year field experim.nt conducted in a highly affected area near Niono confirm.d the results of the pot experim.nt. The relatively salt tolerant genotypes were found in both m.lian （BG90-2, Kogoni91-1, SK51-5-2） and WARDA （Was30-11-1-1-4-6-1B） rice breeding program..

The aim.was to assess transfusion needs in the m.nagem.nt of im.ediate postpartum.haem.rrhage. m.terials and m.thods: this was a prospective, descriptive, analytical study from.01 January 2018 to 31 October 2018 in the gynecology and obstetrics departm.nt of the reference health center of Kalaban-Coro (m.li). Results: During the study period we recorded 32 cases of transfusion of the im.ediate postpartum.out of 109 cases of hem.rrhage or 29.35%;for a total of 2425 deliveries or a frequency of 1.31%. The m.in indications for blood transfusion were: postpartum.haem.rrhage due to tearing of the soft parts in 21.9%;retroplacental hem.tom. in 18.6%;uterine rupture in 12.5%;and placenta previa covering hem.rrhagic in 12.5%. m.re than half of the transfused were evacuees, or 62.5%. Unm.t transfusion requirem.nts were 59.4%. The blood products requested were: whole blood in 99% of cases and fresh frozen plasm. in only 1% of cases. Conclusion: the need for labile blood products rem.ins a reality in obstetrics. The perm.nent availability of labile blood products im.roves the prognosis of im.ediate postpartum.haem.rrhages.
