Switchable conductivity in elementary semiconducting materials has a high potential for the design of diodes,transistors and energy conversion ***,the ability to utilize their physical properties is dependent on doping within the carrier density transition ***-crystal tellurium has a high Seebeck coefficient and intrinsic p-n-p conduction at room temperature and therefore,is not suitable for thermoelectric *** demonstrate that the addition of iso valent Se lowers the Fermi level to achieve a stable p-type conductivity with a high band degeneracy near the valence *** observed shifts in the n-p transition temperature below the intrinsic conductivity at 470 K based on changes in stoichiometry and carrier concentration above 10^(17)cm^(-3).In addition,the high thermal conductivity is significantly reduced with the increase in Se alloying due to the mass and strain *** results in a moderately high zT of 0.4 at 673 K.

Emerging freestanding membrane technologies,especially using inorganic thermoelectric materials,demonstrate the potential for advanced thermoelectric ***,using rare and toxic elements during material processing must be ***,we present a scalable method for synthesizing highly crystalline CuS membranes for thermoelectric *** sulfurizing crystalline Cu,we produce a highly percolated and easily transferable network of submicron CuS *** CuS membrane effectively separates thermal and electrical properties to achieve a power factor of 0.50 mW m^(-1) K^(-2) and thermal conductivity of 0.37 W m^(-1) K^(-1) at 650 K(estimated value).This yields a record-high dimensionless figure-of-merit of 0.91 at 650 K(estimated value)for ***,integrating 12 CuS devices into a module resulted in a power generation of4μW atΔT of 40 K despite using a straightforward configuration with only p-type ***,based on the temperature-dependent electrical characteristics of CuS,we develop a wearable temperature sensor with antibacterial properties.

Tailoring nanostructures is a general approach used to obtain enhanced thermoelectric properties for halfHeusler compounds because the wide areas of grain and phase boundaries could be scattering centers that lower lattice thermal ***,a common fabrication method based on the sintering of crystalline precursors crushed from as-cast alloy ingots has limitations in obtaining a homogeneous microstructure without microsized impurity phases,owing to residual elemental segregation from *** this study,we used amorphous NbCoSn alloys as a precursor for the sintered specimen to obtain a homogeneous NbCoSn bulk specimen without microsized impurity phases and segregation,which led to the enhanced Seebeck coefficient due to the high purity of the half-Heusler phase after ***,superplasticity originating from amorphous features enabled the powders to be largely deformed during the sintering process,even at a low sintering temperature(953 K).This resulted in less oxidation at both,the grain boundary and the interior,as the O diffusion pathway was blocked during the sintering *** a result,the NbCoSn0.95Sb0.05 specimen using an amorphous precursor exhibited an enhanced zT of 0.7,due to the increase in the power factor and a decrease in lattice thermal conductivity compared to the specimen using a crystalline precursor.

Accurate Approximation of the Earth Mover's Distance in Linear Time

Color descriptors are one of the important features used in content-based in, age retrieval. The dominant color descriptor （DCD） represents a few perceptually dominant colors in an image through color quantization. For image retrieval based on DCD, the earth mover＇s distance （EMD） and the optimal color composition distance were proposed to measure the dissimilarity between two images. Although providing good retrieval results, both methods are too time-consuming to be used in a large image database. To solve the problem, we propose a new distance function that calculates an approximate earth mover＇s distance in linear time. To calculate the dissimilarity in linear time, the proposed approach employs the space-filling curve for multidimensional color space. To improve the accuracy, the proposed approach uses multiple curves and adjusts the color positions. As a result, our approach achieves order-of-magnitude time improvement but incurs small errors. We have performed extensive experiments to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach. The results reveal that our approach achieves almost the same results with the EMD in linear time.

Similarity measure construction has been proposed as fault detection of flight test method in order to obtain the primary control surface stuck and the combination stuck of primary *** measures were obtained through analyzing the certainty and uncertainty of fuzzy membership functions,which were designed based on well-known Hamming *** was applied to the fault detection of primary control surface stuck of uninhabited aerial vehicle(UAV).At post-failure control surface,if the UAV is controllable and trimmable using other control surfaces,the UAV is able to fly or return to the safety region through reconfiguration of flight control *** detect the fault,similarity measure computations were carried *** result could be applicable with the real-time parameter estimation *** monitoring the value of coefficients due to the control surface deviation,it becomes aware that the control surface fault occurs or *** control surface stuck position and value were separated by comparing the trim value with the reference *** is the advantage of increasing in reliability without adding sensors or with additional low cost.

Objective: To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of decursin and decursinol angelate-rich Angelica gigas Nakai(AGNE) on dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced murine ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods: The therapeutic effect of an AGNE was analyzed in a mouse model of UC induced by DSS. Disease activity index values were measured by clinical signs such as a weight loss, stool consistency, rectal bleeding and colon length. A histological analysis was performed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. Key inflammatory cytokines and mediators including IL-6, TNF-a, PGE2, COX-2 and HIF-1 a were assayed by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay or western ***: Treatment with the AGNE at 10, 20, and 40 mg/kg alleviated weight loss,decreased disease activity index scores, and reduced colon shortening in mice with DSSinduced UC. AGNE inhibited the production of IL-6 and TNF-a in serum and colon tissue. Moreover, AGNE suppressed the increased expression of COX-2 and HIF-1 a and the increased production of PGE2 in colon tissue were observed in mice with DSSinduced UC. Additionally, histological damage was also alleviated by AGNE ***: The findings of this study verified that AGNE significantly improves clinical symptoms and reduces the activity of various inflammatory mediators. These results indicate the AGNE has the therapeutic potential in mice with DSS-induced UC.

Slightly acidic electrolyzed water(SAEW)has proven to be an efficient and novel sanitizer in food and agriculture *** study assessed the efficacy of SAEW(30 mg/L)at 40℃on the inactivation of foodbome pathogens and detachment of multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)*** underlying mechanism of MRS A biofilm under heated SAEW at 40℃treatment on metabolic profiles was *** results showed that the heated SAEW at 40℃significantly effectively against foodbome pathogens of 1.96-7.56(lg(CFU/g))reduction in pork,chicken,spinach,and *** heated SAEW at 40℃treatment significantly reduced MRS A biofilm cells by 2.41(lg(CFU/cm^(2))).The synergistic effect of SAEW treatment showed intense anti-biofilm activity in decreasing cell density and impairing biofilm cell *** metabolic response of MRSA biofilms,treated by SAEW at 40℃,revealed the alterations of intracellular metabolites,including amino acids,organic acid,fatty acid,and ***,signaling pathways involved in amino acid metabolism,energy metabolism,nucleotide synthesis,carbohydrate metabolites,and lipid biosynthesis were functionally disrupted by the SAEW at 40℃*** per our knowledge,this is the first research to uncover the potential mechanism of heated SAEW treatment against MRSA biofilm on food contact surface.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of exercise-induced muscle fatigue in the unaffected knee joint on postural control and kinematic changes in stroke patients. Forty participants（20 stroke patients, 20 age-matched healthy participants） were recruited. To induce fatigue, maximum voluntary isometric contractions were performed in the unaffected knee joint in a Leg Extension Rehab exercise machine using the pneumatic resistance. We measured static and dynamic balance and lower-limb kinematics during gait. Changes in postural control parameters anteroposterior sway speed and total center of pressure distance differed significantly between the stroke and control groups. In addition, changes in gait kinematic parameters knee and ankle angles of initial contact differed significantly between stroke（paretic and non-paretic） and control groups. Muscle fatigue in the unaffected knee and ankle impaired postural control and debilitates kinematic movement of ipsilateral and contralateral lower limbs, and may place the fatigued stroke patients at greater risk for falls.
