Risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with drug-resistant chronic hepatitis B

AIM:To investigate the risk factors and characteristics of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) in the patients with drug-resistant chronic hepatitis B(CHB).METHODS:A total of 432 patients with drug-resistant CHB were analyzed retrospectively from January 2004to December 2012. The patients were divided into two groups:the HCC group(n = 57) and the non-HCC group(n = 375). Two groups compared using logistic regression for various patients and viral characteristics in order to identify associated risk factors for ***,patient and tumor characteristics of HCC patients with na ve CHB(N group,n = 117) were compared to the HCC group(R group,n = 57) to identify any difference in HCC characteristics between ***:A significant difference was found for age,platelet count,alpha-fetoprotein(AFP),positivity of HBeAg,seroconversion rate of HBeAg,virologic response,the Child-Pugh score,presence of rtM204I,and the duration of antiviral treatment in non-HCC and HCC group. Cirrhosis,age(> 50 years),HBeAg(+),virologic non-responder status,and rtM204I mutants were independent risk factors for the development of HCC. The R group had lower serum C-reactive protein(CRP) and AFP levels,earlier stage tumors,and a shorter mean tumor surveillance period than the N group. However,the total follow-up duration was not significantly different between the two ***:13.2% of patients with drug-resistant CHB developed HCC. Age,cirrhosis,YIDD status,HBeAg status,and virologic response are associated with risk of HCC. Patients with drug-resistant CHB and these clinical factors may benefit from closer HCC surveillance.

Mammal distribution is shaped by different ecological and anthropogenic factors,and the pattern varies depending on their sensitivity thresholds,food and habitat preferences,ecological roles,and physical *** present study investigated the influence of ecological and anthropogenic factors on the distribution of mammal species communities across different trophic levels and body sizes in Myanmar's Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary(HWS).The values of mammal characteristics,ecological,and anthropogenic factors were analyzed in ArcMap *** of the large and small sized mammals,whose distribution decreases with elevation,were observed near the main *** mammal tropic levels,the omnivores and herbivores were mostly observed farther from gold mining *** terms of forage plant effect on mammal community,floral forage plants and the presence of climber negatively affected mammal species across different trophic ***,presence of resin trees also has a substantial impact on the distribution of medium-large animals and omnivorous mammals as trophic niche ***,our findings highlight the crucial role that ecological and anthropogenic factors play in shaping mammal distribution in the *** underscores the importance of simultaneously conserving both habitat and mammal diversity in HWS,especially in the face of a changing climate and environment.

BACKGROUND The cellular prion protein(PrPC),traditionally associated with neurodegenerative disorders,plays an important role in cancer progression and metastasis by inhibiting *** To investigate the influence of PrPC expression in cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)on patient outcomes following surgical *** Patients who underwent curative surgical resection for either intrahepatic or hilar CCA were enrolled in this retrospective *** on the immunohistochemical staining results of the surgical specimens,patients were categorized into two groups:The low PrPC group(negative or 1+)and the high PrPC group(2+or 3+).Survival analyses,including overall survival and recurrence-free survival,were conducted using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank *** In total,seventy-six patients diagnosed with CCA(39 with intrahepatic and 37 with hilar CCA)underwent curative hepatectomy from January 2011 to November *** these patients,38(50%)demonstrated high PrPC expression,whereas the remaining 38(50%)showed low expression of *** a median follow-up period of 31.2 months(range:1 to 137 months),the high PrPC group had a significantly shorter median overall survival than the low PrPC group(40.4 months vs 137.9 months,respectively;P=0.041).Moreover,the high PrPC group had a significantly shorter median recurrence-free survival than the low PrPC group(13.3 months vs 23.8 months,respectively;P=0.026).CONCLUSION PrPC expression is significantly associated with early recurrence and decreased survival period in CCA patients following surgical ***,PrPC may be used as a prognostic factor in treatment planning.

Formation of FeMo_2B_2 phase in boron containing 9Cr-1.5Mo ferritic steels

The segregation and diffusion of boron during heat treatments were studied. The influence of boron contents, aging time and applied stress on FeMo2B2 formation was also studied. Finally, the effects of boron contents and FeMo2B2 formation on the high temperature strength were studied. Boron atoms were segregated to prior austenite grain boundary during normalizing treatment. And these boron atoms were slowly diffused into the grain interior during tempering and aging at 700 ℃. The FeMo2B2 phase was only formed after 1,000 h aging at 700 ℃ in alloy containing 196 ppm boron. The formation of FeMo2B2 phase is accelerated by the applied stress. It was expected that the formation of FeMo2B2 is closely related to the redistribution of boron atoms. The tensile strengths at 700 ℃ are increased with the increase of boron contents. However, the formation of FeMo2B2 phase results in lower tensile strength.

Augmenting freshwater availability in mountain headwater streams:Assessing the sustainability under baseline and future climate change scenarios

Mountain headwater streams are important freshwater sources,but they are mostly intermittent and highly susceptible to climate *** paper examines the sustainability of augmented freshwater availability in mountain headwater streams for water supply under baseline and future climate change scenarios using an integrated modeling *** climate change data in the 2040s(2030e2059),under Representative Concentration Pathway 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios,were downscaled for the impact *** the region,climate change raises the average precipitation by 5e7%and the temperature by 13e15%in the *** model,integrating Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT2012)and finite-difference Modular Groundwater Flow(MODFLOW)models in a single package,was used to assess the water *** show that extracting a minimum of 16.2 m^(3)/day from the sand storage and 30 m^(3)/day from the aquifer was possible without affecting the groundwater table and water *** average annual catchment recharge was 6%of the precipitation under the baseline *** change is projected to reduce the average water yield and groundwater recharge by 26%and 19%,***,the water supply-demand is significantly small compared to the exploitable rate of water in the *** study was based on limited data,and therefore the findings need to be interpreted with caution,though the model output was validated using satellite *** of a series of sand dams is suggested to maximize the benefit under the potential climate change and water supply-demand increase.

Study of cerium-promoted rhodium alumina catalyst as a steam reforming catalyst for treatment of spent solvents

This study attempted to develop an appropriate catalyst used for the steam reforming of gasified spent solvents. Rh2O3/ CeOE-Al2O3 catalysts with various CeO2 loadings were prepared and heated at different temperatures of 500 and 800 ℃, and their surface properties were studied using X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, temperature programmed reduction （TPR） and Bmmauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） analyses. Rhodium existed in the form of Rh2O3, regardless of the sample composition as well as the heating temperature. In the tested range of cerium addition （up to 12 times the rhodium mass）, no significant changes in BET surface areas and binding energy corresponding to Rh 3d5/2 were observed. Instead, the addition of cerium led to a greatly enhanced dispersion of rhodium nanoparticles, and no agglomeration of rhodium was observed for samples heated even at 800 ℃. Honeycomb monolith rhodium catalysts promoted with cerium were fabricated and tested for the steam reforming of a gasified spent solvent, mainly consisting of butylene （C4H8）. The test results suggested that a cerium-promoted rhodium catalyst could be used as an appropriate reforming catalyst for treating low-quality non-methane hydrocarbons without the formation of coke at high temperatures of up to 900 ℃.

This study represents the influence on exhaust performance by active muffler valve *** main experimental parameters were engine speeds and torsion coil spring constants in the active *** the muffler valve spring has a low spring constant of k=0.75,the sound pressure level was low at the region of engine speed 2000 to 2500 r/min,and the velocity of exhaust gas was high at spring constant k=*** the engine speed was under 1500 r/min,the mean concentration of CO was high in case without muffler *** the engine speed in the range of 1600 to 2600 r/min with spring constant k=0.75,the mean HC concentration showed the lowest *** muffler valve,the temperature in the muffler was higher than the case with muffler *** research represented that the performance of the active muffler valve spring constant k=0.75 was higher than that without muffler valve and valve spring constant k=*** the three cases of experimental condition,with a spring constant k=0.75,0.70 and without muffler valve,the exhaust performance was high in case active muffler valve spring constant k=0.70.
