Jasmonic acid(JA)is a crucial phytohormone that regulates plant immunity.The endogenous JA level is determined by the rates of its biosynthesis and catabolism in plants.The activation of JA biosynthesis has been well documented;however,how plants repress JA catabolism upon pathogen infection remains elusive.In this study,we identified and characterized Botrytis cinerea-induced F-box protein 1(BFP1)in Arabidopsis.The expression of BFP1 was induced by B.cinerea in a JA signaling-dependent manner,and BFP1 protein was critical for plant defense against B.cinerea and plant response to JA.In addition,BFP1 overexpression increased plant defenses against broad-spectrum pathogens without fitness costs.Further experiments demonstrated that BFP1 interacts with and mediates the ubiquitination and degrada-tion of jasmonic acid oxidases(JAOs,also known as jasmonate-induced oxygenases,JoXs),the enzymes that hydroxylate JA to 12OH-JA.Consistent with this,BFP1 affects the accumulation of JA and 12OH-JA during B.cinerea infection.Moreover,mutation of JAo2 complemented the phenotypes of the bfp1 mutant.Collectively,our results unveil a new mechanism used by plants to activate immune responses upon path-ogeninfection:suppressing JA catabolism.

Diatomic Pd catalyst with conjugated backbone for synergistic electrochemical CO_(2)reduction

Double-site catalysts have attracted widespread attention in the field of electrocatalysis due to their high metal loading,adjustable active centres,and electronic valence states.However,the development of bimetallic sites catalysts that coordinate with definite atoms is still in the exploratory stage.Here,we designed and synthesized a bimetallic palladium complex(BPB-Pd_(2))with conjugated backbone.The supported BPB-Pd_(2)was applied to electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)for the first time.The as-obtained BPB-Pd_(2)gives an exceptional Faradaic efficiency of CO(FECO)of 94.4%at−0.80 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE),which is significantly superior to monoatomic palladium catalyst(BPB-Pd1).The density functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that the essential reason for the outstanding activity of BPB-Pd_(2)toward CO_(2)RR was that the electronic effect between diatomic palladium reduces the free energy change for CO_(2)RR process.Thus,BPB-Pd_(2)exhibits moderate free energy change to form COOH*intermediate,which was beneficial for the generation of CO in CO_(2)RR.

AIM:To observe the effect of ghrelin,a growth hormonereleasing peptide,on retinal angiogenesis in vitro under high glucose(HG)stress and to explore the possible mechanism of autophagy.METHODS:Human retinal microvascular endothelial cells(HRMECs)were treated with high concentration of glucose alone or in combination with ghrelin.The cell migration,tube formation and the expression of the autophagy-related proteins LC3-II/I,Beclin-1,p62,phosphorylated AKT(p-AKT)/AKT and phosphorylated mammalian target of rapamycin(p-mTOR)/mTOR were detected.Then,to clarify the correlation between ghrelin effect and autophagy,AKT inhibitor VIII was adopted to treat HRMECs,and cell migration,tube formation as well as the protein expressions of LC3-II/I,Beclin-1 and p62 were observed.RESULTS:Under HG stress,ghrelin inhibited migration and tube formation of HRMECs.Ghrelin inhibited the increases in the protein levels of LC3-II/I,Beclin-1 and the decreases in the protein levels of p62,p-AKT/AKT and p-mTOR/mTOR induced by HG stress.Moreover,under the action of AKT/mTOR pathway inhibitors,the effects of ghrelin on migration and tube formation were both reduced.In addition,the expression of LC3-II/I and Beclin-1 were significantly up-regulated and the expression of p62 was down-regulated.CONCLUSION:Retinal angiogenesis under in vitro HG stress can be inhibited by ghrelin through activating AKT/mTOR pathway to inhibit autophagy.

BACKGROUND In the current World Health Organization classification,acinic cell carcinoma(AcCC)of the breast is considered a rare histological subtype of triple-negative breast cancer.Because of the few reports in the literature,data concerning clinical outcomes are limited.Here,we report a case of AcCC of the breast in a 48-year-old woman.A 48-year-old woman with a mass in her right breast came to our hospital for further diagnosis.Mammography and an ultrasound(US)scan showed a mass in the upper inner side of the right breast.She then underwent surgery to resect the mass in her right breast.Postoperative pathological examination revealed that the tumor had abundant acinar-like structures formed by tumor cells with prominent eosinophilic granules in the cytoplasm,consistent with acinar cell carcinoma.The results of immunohistochemical analysis supported the diagnosis of breast acinar cell carcinoma.Two months later,she underwent breast-conserving surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy.The pTNM stage was T2N0M0.After surgery,the patient received 30 radiotherapy sessions.The patient was followed up for a period of one year,and no recurrence was found.AcCC of the breast is a rare type of malignant tumor.Because it is usually asym-ptomatic and can be detected by imaging studies,routine breast US or mamm-ograms are important.However,there are no characteristic diagnostic imaging findings or clinical manifestations,so immunohistochemical examination is critical for an accurate diagnosis of AcCC of the breast.

Highland barley(HB)is a high-altitude cereal with rich nutritional components and potential health benefits.To clarify its hypoglycemic effect and mechanism,we investigated the effect of whole grain HB and fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)on glucose metabolism and gut microbiota in high-fat diet and streptozotocin(HFD/STZ)-induced diabetic mice.The results showed that HB(40%)significantly decreased fasting blood glucose and the area under the glucose tolerance curve,significantly increased insulin secretion and improved insulin resistance in HFD/STZ-induced diabetic mice(P<0.05).Inflammatory factors and blood lipid indices were also significantly alleviated after 12 weeks of 40%HB intervention(P<0.05).Additionally,beneficial bacteria,such as Bifidobacterium and Akkermansia,were significantly enriched in the gut of diabetic mice after whole grain HB intervention.Meanwhile,the results of further FMT experiments verified that the fecal microbiota after the 40%HB intervention not only significantly increased the relative abundance of Bifidobacterium and Akkermansia but also effectively improved glucose metabolism and alleviated the inflammatory state in HFD/STZ-induced diabetic mice.Collectively,our study confirmed the bridge role of gut microbiota in improving glucose metabolism of whole grain HB,which could promote the development of precision nutrition.

CO_(2) electroreduction to formic acid/formate would contribute to alleviating the energy and climate crisis.This work reports a Bi-based catalyst derived from the in-situ electroreduction of Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3) modified with iodine and pyrenyl-graphdiyne(PGDY)on the surface for efficient electroreduction of CO_(2) in acidic electrolyte,with a high partial current density of 98.71 mA·cm^(-2) and high Faradaic efficiency(FE)>90%over the potential range from^(-1).2 to-1.5 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE),as well as the long-term operational stability over 240 h without degradation in H-type cell.Experimental results and density function theory calculations show that the synergistic effect of surface iodine and PGDY is responsible for this active and extremely stable process of CO_(2) electroreduction via lowering the energy barriers for formation of*OCHO intermediate,suppressing the competitive HER by enhancing the concentration of both K+and CO_(2) at reaction interface,as well as preventing the dissolution and re-deposition of active Bi atoms on surface during catalytic reaction.This work provides new insight into designing highly active and stable electrocatalysts for CO_(2) reduction.

High-resolution remote sensing image segmentation is a challenging task. In urban remote sensing, the presenceof occlusions and shadows often results in blurred or invisible object boundaries, thereby increasing the difficultyof segmentation. In this paper, an improved network with a cross-region self-attention mechanism for multi-scalefeatures based onDeepLabv3+is designed to address the difficulties of small object segmentation and blurred targetedge segmentation. First,we use CrossFormer as the backbone feature extraction network to achieve the interactionbetween large- and small-scale features, and establish self-attention associations between features at both large andsmall scales to capture global contextual feature information. Next, an improved atrous spatial pyramid poolingmodule is introduced to establish multi-scale feature maps with large- and small-scale feature associations, andattention vectors are added in the channel direction to enable adaptive adjustment of multi-scale channel features.The proposed networkmodel is validated using the PotsdamandVaihingen datasets. The experimental results showthat, compared with existing techniques, the network model designed in this paper can extract and fuse multiscaleinformation, more clearly extract edge information and small-scale information, and segment boundariesmore smoothly. Experimental results on public datasets demonstrate the superiority of ourmethod compared withseveral state-of-the-art networks.

Recently,the application of location-based services(LBS) has become a prevalent means to provide convenience in customers’ everyday lives.However,because massive volumes of location information are collected by LBS applications,users may suffer from serious privacy issues.Prior studies have shown that the identities of users can be inferred from historical anonymous trajectories,which is formulated as the trajectory-user linking(TUL) task.Although some recurrent neural network(RNN)-based models have been proposed to capture implicit movement patterns among trajectories to improve TUL performance,they cannot learn the sequential and contextual semantics within any individual trajectory completely,leaving the advantages of RNNs underutilized.We therefore propose an RNN model with an attention mechanism called TULAM to improve the accuracy of the TUL task.TULAM learns sequential relationships within individual trajectories via RNN and captures contextual semantics from trajectories via a multi-head attention mechanism.Additionally,we propose a novel location encoding method called approximate one-hot to solve the corpus shortage problem of trajectory datasets.Evaluations were conducted on real datasets from the Gowalla and Foursquare LBS platforms.The experimental results indicate that TULAM is a practical solution that achieves significant improvements over existing methods with satisfactory model complexity and convergence.

Despite their interesting applications,direct and diverse syntheses of aryl-fused 2-alkyl cyclic amines still remain challenging.Here,the concept of incorporating a C–C coupling process into the N-heteroaryl reduction was successfully applied to fulfill such a synthetic purpose.Due to our use of controllable electroreduction coupled with proton abstraction,we can report a room-temperature reductiveα-alkylation of the inert N-heteroarenes with abundantly available styrenes in an undivided Zn(+)/C(−)cell.This proceeds with good substrate compatibility and operational simplicity,utilizes cost-effective sacrificial Zn-anode,exhibits high selectivity,and does not need pressurized H2 gas and transition-metal catalysts.This current work offers a useful platform for direct construction of valuable aryl-fused 2-alkyl cyclic amines that are difficult to access with conventional methods.

AIM:To investigate ocular surface disorders and tear function changes in patients with acne vulgaris and explore the potential relationship between acne vulgaris and dry eye.METHODS:This cross-sectional study included right eyes of 53 patients with acne vulgaris and 54 healthy controls.The participants completed the Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI)questionnaire.The following ocular surface-related parameters were measured:tear meniscus height(TMH),noninvasive tear breakup time(NIBUT),Schirmer I test(SIT),lipid layer thickness(LLT)score of the tear film,meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,the ratio of meibomian gland loss,conjunctival hyperemia score,and corneal fluorescein staining(CFS)score.RESULTS:The stability of the tear film decreased in acne vulgaris patients.In the acne group,the TMH and NIBUT were lower,whereas the OSDI,meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,ratio of meibomian gland loss,and conjunctival hyperemia score were higher compared with controls(P0.05).In two dry eye groups,the TMH,NIBUT,and LLT score were lower in the acne with dry eye(acne-DE)group,and the meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,ratio of meibomian gland loss and conjunctival hyperemia score in the acne-DE group were higher(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Patients with moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris are more likely to experience dry eye than those without acne vulgaris.Reduced tear film stability and meibomian gland structure dysfunction are more pronounced in patients with moderate-to-severe acne and dry eye.
