Catalytic methylation of toluene with methanol is an important alternative pathway for xylene production.Previous studies have indicated that methanol always undergoes several side reactions on acidic zeolites,resulting in oxygencontaining byproducts such as dimethyl ethers,ketones,and carboxylic acids.Herein,the presence and distribution of the oxygenated compounds formed during toluene methylation were firstly examined by systematic chromatographic analysis.Plausible formation mechanisms for the various oxygenates are discussed.The most problematic byproduct is found to be acetic acid,which can lead to inferior product quality and damage downstream units.A feasible solution is presented for oxygenate removal after toluene methylation,in which acetic acid is eliminated by catalytic decomposition into low-boilingpoint acetone over a MgO catalyst.This process allows for all of the low-boiling-point oxygenates,including methanol,dimethyl ether,acetone,and butanone,to be removed from the aromatics phase,taking advantage of the temperature of the reaction effluent and standard distillation equipment.X-ray diffraction was used to characterize the crystal phase of the fresh and used MgO decarbonylation catalysts,while thermogravimetry/mass spectrometry and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were applied to investigate the transformation mechanism of acetic acid over the decarbonylation catalyst.CO insertion and ketonization of acetic acid accounted for the formation and elimination of acetic acid,respectively.The combined methylation/decarbonylation process should enable the production of high-quality xylenes,an important industrial feedstock,by overcoming the main technical obstacles associated with the toluene methylation process.

Non‑associated and Non‑quadratic Characteristics in Plastic Anisotropy of Automotive Lightweight Sheet Metals

Lightweight sheet metals are highly desirable for automotive applications due to their exceptional strength-to-density ratio.An accurate description of the pronounced plastic anisotropy exhibited by these materials in finite element analysis requires advanced plasticity models.In recent years,significant efforts have been devoted to developing plasticity models and numeri-cal analysis methods based on the non-associated flow rule(non-AFR).In this work,a newly proposed coupled quadratic and non-quadratic model under non-AFR is utilized to comprehensively investigate the non-associated and non-quadratic characteristics during the yielding of three lightweight sheet metals,i.e.,dual-phase steel DP980,TRIP-assisted steel QP980,and aluminum alloy AA5754-O.These materials are subjected to various proportional loading paths,including uniaxial tensile tests with a 15°increment,uniaxial compressive tests with a 45°increment,in-plane torsion tests,and biaxial tensile tests using laser-deposited arm-strengthened cruciform specimens.Results show that the non-AFR approach provides an effective means for accurately modeling the yield behavior,including yield stresses and the direction of plastic strain rates,simultaneously,utilizing two separate functions and a simple calibration procedure.The introduction of the non-quadratic plastic potential reduces the average errors in angle when predicting plastic strain directions by the quadratic plastic potential function.Specifically,for DP980,the average error is reduced from 3.1°to 0.9°,for QP980 it is reduced from 6.1°to 3.9°,and for AA5754-O it is reduced from 7.0°to 0.2°.This highlights the importance of considering the non-quadratic characteristic in plasticity modeling,especially for aluminum alloys such as AA5754-O.

Exosomes secreted by tumor cells carry abundant molecular biomarkers that reflect the status of their originating cells.These tumor-derived exosomes(TDEs)have emerged as attractive diagnostic targets.However,the identification and characterization of highly heterogeneous TDEs remain practically challenging.Here,we report a dual rolling circle amplification(DRCA)-assisted approach for the selective encapsulation of single TDEs for fluorescence microscopic and flow cytometric analysis.TDEs have been targeted by aptamers that recognized their surface tumor marker and exosomal marker CD63,following DRCA that produced entangling polymeric DNA chains,resulting in facile particle enlargement that allows single-particle fluorescence profiling of exosome heterogeneity.We have demonstrated the use of a dual-marker positive ratio for exosome differentiation and applied division and multiplication operations for normalized andmagnified marker heterogeneity analysis.We further applied this assay to distinguish lung adenocarcinoma and pulmonary nodule patients and found an accuracy of 90%.We anticipate promising transformations of this straightforward assay into clinically implantable diagnostic methods.

BACKGROUND: The availability of novel direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) represents a new era of curative hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment, with over 95% of patients infected with HCV genotype 1 achieving sustained virological response (SVR). Nevertheless, the majority of patients globally are unable to access these treatments because of cost and infrastructure constraints and, thus, remain untreated and uncured. DATA SOURCE: Relevant articles of peginterferon (PegIFN)-based treatments in HCV and sofosbuvir-based treatments, simeprevir, daclatasvir/asunaprevir, ritonavir-boosted paritaprevir/ombitasvir/dasabuvir, and grazoprevir/elbasvir, were searched in PubMed database, including general population and special population. RESULTS: PegIFN in combination with ribavirin remains an important and relevant option for some patients, achieving SVR rates of up to 79% in genotype 1 and 89% in genotype 2 or 3 infections, which increases for patients with favorable IL28B genotypes. Triple therapy of DAA plus PegIFN/ribavirin is effective in treating difficult-to-cure patients infected with HCV genotype 3 or with resistance-associated variants. Owing to its long history in HCV management, the efficacy, tolerability and long-term outcomes associated with PegIFN alfa-2a are well established and have been validated in large-scale studies and in clinical practice for many populations. Furthermore, emerging data show that IFN-induced SVR is associated with lower incidences of hepatocellular carcinoma compared with DAAs. On the contrary, novel DAAs have yet to be studied in special populations, and long-term outcomes, particularly tumor development and recurrence in patients with cirrhosis and/or hepatocellular carcinoma, and reactivation of HBV in dually infected patients, are still unclear. CONCLUSION: In this interferon-free era, PegIFN-based regimens remain a safe and effective option for selected HCV patients.

A palladium-catalyzed formal[2+2+1]cyclization of 1-alkynyl-8-iodonaphthalene with double isocyanides is developed herein.The transformation worked well to produce a series of 7 H-acenaphtho[1,2-b]pyrrole with a broad reaction scope.Isocyanides play a dual role in the reaction.One is a C1 building block,and another is used as C1 N1 component.In the process,the[2+2+1]cyclization involves imidoylation,regioselective addition of imidoylpalladium species into alkyne,double imidoylation,and another addition of the resulting imidoylpalladium species into imine bonds.

As the key components of all-solid-state deep-ultraviolet(DUV,λminent properties have emerged in the fluorooxoborate system.By investigating the differences in structures and properties among fluorooxoborates and borates and borate fluorides,the excellent NLO per-formances of fluorooxoborates are attributed to functionalized B-O/F chromophores.In this review,by analyzing the published fluorooxoborates,the fluorooxoborate system is a precious treasure for exploring DUV NLO ma-terials.The synthesis,structures,and properties of some representative fluorooxoborates in the research history are introduced and summarized.Finally,we put forward the opportunities and challenges of future research in fluorooxoborate DUV NLO crystals.

In this paper,we investigate the secrecy outage performance in simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT)systems taking artificial noise assistance into account.Multiple antennas in the source and a single antenna in both the legitimate receiver and the eavesdropper are assumed.Specifically,the transmitted signal at the source is composed of two parts,where the first part is the information symbols and the other is the noise for the eavesdropper.To avoid making noise in the legitimate receiver,these two parts in the transmitted signals are modulated into two orthogonal dimensions according to the instantaneous channel state between the source and the legitimate receiver.We derive an approximate closed-form expression for the secrecy outage probability(SOP)by adopting the Gauss-Laguerre quadrature(GLQ)method,where the gap between the exact SOP and our approximate SOP converges with increase of the summation terms in the GLQ.To obtain the secrecy diversity order and secrecy array gain for the considered SWIPT system,the asymptotic result of the SOP is also derived.This is tight in the high signal-to-noise ratio region.A novel and robust SOP approximation is also analyzed given a small variance of the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio at the eavesdropper.Some selected Monte-Carlo numerical results are presented to validate the correctness of the derived closed-form expressions.

We study the pricing game between competing retailers under various random coefficient attraction choice models.We characterize existence conditions and structure properties of the equilibrium.Moreover,we explore how the randomness and cost parameters affect the equilibrium prices and profits under multinomial logit(MNL),multiplicative competitive interaction(MCI)and linear attraction choice models.Specifically,with bounded randomness,for the MCI and linear attraction models,the randomness always reduces the retailer’s profit.However,for the MNL model,the effect of randomness depends on the product’s value gap.For high-end products(i.e.,whose value gap is higher than a threshold),the randomness reduces the equilibrium profit,and vice versa.The results suggest high-end retailers in MNL markets exert more effort in disclosing their exact product performance to consumers.We also reveal the effects of randomness on retailers’pricing decisions.These results help retailers in making product performance disclosure and pricing decisions.
