Wheat （Triticum aestivum） seeds were treated with atmospheric pressure gliding arc discharge plasmas to investigate the effects on water absorption, seed germination rate, seedling growth and yield in wheat. The surface architectures and functionalities of the seeds were found to modify due to plasma treatments. 6 rain treatment was provided 95%-100% germination rate. For the treatment duration of 3 and 9 rain the growth activity, dry matter accumulation, leaves chlorophyll contents, longest spikes, number of spikes/spikelet and total soluble protein content in shoots were improved. The grain yield of wheat was increased ,--20% by 6 min treatment with H2O/O2 plasma with respect to control.

Oral 4-aminopyridine(4-AP)is clinically used for symptomatic relief in multiple sclerosis and we recently demonstrated that systemic 4-AP had previously unknown clinically-relevant effects after traumatic peripheral nerve injury including the promotion of re-myelination,improvement of nerve conductivity,and acceleration of functional *** hypothesized that,instead of oral or injection administration,transdermal 4-AP(TD-4-AP)could also improve functional recovery after traumatic peripheral nerve *** with surgical traumatic peripheral nerve injury received TD-4AP or vehicle alone and were examined for skin permeability,pharmacokinetics,functional,electrophysiological,and nerve morphological properties.4-AP showed linear pharmacokinetics and the maximum plasma 4-AP concentrations were proportional to TD-4-AP *** a single dose of TD-4-AP administration demonstrated rapid transient improvement in motor function,chronic TD-4-AP treatment significantly improved motor function and nerve conduction and these effects were associated with fewer degenerating axons and thicker myelin sheaths than those from vehicle *** findings provide direct evidence for the potential transdermal applicability of 4-AP and demonstrate that 4-AP delivered through the skin can enhance in-vivo functional recovery and nerve conduction while decreasing axonal *** animal experiments were approved by the University Committee on Animal Research(UCAR)at the University of Rochester(UCAR-2009-019)on March 31,2017.

Objective:To evaluate the antidiabetic and the antidiarrhoeal effects of ethanolic extracts of Psidium guajava leave(EEPGL) in Wisier rais to support its traditional ***:Oral glucose tolerance test model and alloxan induced diabetic test model were performed to evaluate antidiabetic activity of EEPGL at doses of 1.***.0.50 and 0.75 g/kg *** antidiarrhoeal effects of *** oil-induced diarrhoea model and gastrointestinal motility test with barium sulphate milk model were also assessed at doses of750.500 and 250 mg/***:Administration of EEPGL at doses 1.00 and 0.50 g/kg significantly(P<0.05)decreased blood glucose levels in oral glucose tolerance test model as well as 0.75 g/kg dose in alloxan induced diabetic test model in Wister rats(P<0.001).Application of EEPGL at doses of 750 and 500 mg/kg showed antidiarrhoeal effect in castor oil-induced diarrhoeal model(P<0.00 l and P<0.01,respectively),and 750 mg/kg(P<0.01),500 and 250 mg/kg(P<0.05)doses in barium sulphate milk model in aforesaid ***:These results exhibited the significant antidiabetic and antidiarrhoeal activities of ethanolic extracts of Psidium guajava leave in Wister rats.

Urban agriculture is gaining recognition for its potential contributions to environmental resilience and climate change adaptation,providing advantages such as urban greening,reduced heat island effects,and decreased air ***,it indirectly supports communities during weather events and natural disasters,ensuring food security and fostering community ***,concerns about planetary health risks persist in highly urbanized and climate-affected *** electronic databases such as Web of Science and PubMed and adhering to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines,we identified 55 relevant papers to comprehend the planetary health risks associated with urban agriculture,The literature review identified five distinct health risks related to urban agriculture:(1)trace metal risks in urban farms;(2)health risks associated with wastewater irrigation;(3)zoonotic risks;(4)other health risks;and(5)social and economic *** study highlights that urban agriculture,while emphasizing environmental benefits,particularly raises concerns about trace metal bioaccumulation in soil and vegetables,posing health risks for *** well studied risks included wastewater irrigation and backyard livestock *** main limitations in the available literature were in studying infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance associated with urban agriculture.

Preparation of active carbons from corn stalk for butanol vapor adsorption

Active carbons(ACs) were prepared through chemical activation of biochar from whole corn stalk(WCS)and corn stalk pith(CSP) at varying temperatures using potassium hydroxide as the activating agent. ACs were characterized via pore structural analysis and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). These adsorbents were then assessed for their adsorption capacity for butanol vapor. It was found that WCS activated at900 °C for 1 h(WCS-900) had optimal butanol adsorption characteristics. The BET surface area and total pore volume of the WCS-900 were 2330 m2/g and 1.29 cm3/g, respectively. The dynamic adsorption capacity of butanol vapor was 410.0 mg/g, a 185.1% increase compared to charcoal-based commercial AC(143.8 mg/g).

4-Aminopyridine(4-AP), an FDA-approved drug for the symptomatic treatment of multiple sclerosis, is used to improve neuromuscular function in patients with diverse demyelinating disorders. We recently demonstrated that local, transdermal or injectable forms of 4-AP improve myelination, nerve conduction velocity, muscle atrophy, and motor function after traumatic peripheral nerve injury in mice. While oral 4-AP is most commonly used in the clinic, it is unknown whether human equivalent oral doses of 4-AP have effects on traumatic peripheral nerve injury differentiation, myelination, muscle atrophy, functional recovery, and post-injury inflammatory processes in animals. Mice with sciatic nerve crush or denervation injury received oral or intraperitoneal 4-AP(10 μg) or vehicle alone and were examined for pharmacokinetics, motor function, muscle mass, intrinsic muscle force, nerve morphological and gene expression profiles. 4-AP showed linear pharmacokinetics and the maximum plasma 4-AP concentrations were proportional to 4-AP dose. Acute single dose of oral 4-AP administration induced a rapid transient improvement in motor function that was different in traumatic peripheral nerve injury with or without nerve continuity, chronic daily oral 4-AP treatment significantly enhanced post crush injury motor function recovery and this effect was associated with improved myelination, muscle mass, and ex vivo muscle force. Polymerase chain reaction array analysis with crushed nerve revealed significant alterations in gene involved in axonal inflammation and regeneration. These findings provide convincing evidence that regardless of the route of administration, 4-AP can acutely differentiate traumatic peripheral nerve injury with or without nerve continuity and can enhance in vivo functional recovery with better preservation of myelin sheaths, muscle mass, and muscle force. Nodules form on plant roots through the symbiotic relationship between soybean(Glycine max ***.)roots and bacteria(Bradyrhizobium japonicum)and are an important structure where atmospheric nitrogen(N2)is fixed into bioavailable ammonia(NH3)for plant growth and *** quantification on soybean roots is a laborious and tedious task;therefore,assessment is frequently done on a numerical scale that allows for rapid phenotyping,but is less informative and suffers from *** report the Soybean Nodule Acquisition Pipeline(SNAP)for nodule quantification that combines RetinaNet and UNet deep learning architectures for object(i.e.,nodule)detection and *** was built using data from 691 unique roots from diverse soybean genotypes,vegetative growth stages,and field locations and has a good model fit(R2=0:99).SNAP reduces the human labor and inconsistencies of counting nodules,while acquiring quantifiable traits related to nodule growth,location,and distribution on *** ability of SNAP to phenotype nodules on soybean roots at a higher throughput enables researchers to assess the genetic and environmental factors,and their interactions on nodulation from an early development *** application of SNAP in research and breeding pipelines may lead to more nitrogen use efficiency for soybean and other legume species cultivars,as well as enhanced insight into the plant-Bradyrhizobium relationship.

Cinnamon nanoemulsion(CNE),clove nanoemulsion(CvNE),and thyme nanoemulsion(TNE)were prepared using three different essential oils(EOs:cinnamon,clove,and thyme)and chitosan for the coating of chicken *** nanoemulsions were investigated for their active functional groups,antimicrobial,and antioxidant *** had the highest antioxidant potential and a significant bacterial inhibition rate followed by CvNE,and *** polydispersity index(PDI)was found between 0.13±0.01-0.31±0.02 showing a homogenous particle distribution with a lower mean size of the *** steam-cooked chicken fingers were divided into four batches for coatings,such as control(without coating),CNE,CvNE,and TNE and stored at 4±1℃.The pH,moisture content,proximate values,lipid oxidation of coated samples were determined during the storage ***,the sensory analysis and shelf life study were also conducted throughout the storage *** was observed that the coated samples had a relatively higher shelf life(20 days)with minimum microbial count(4.7±0.0 log10 cfu/g),while the untreated sample(control)spoiled within 10 days of *** addition,coated chicken fingers exhibited a higher sensory acceptance than the *** study concluded that the EOs rich nanoemulsion may be utilized as an alternative to synthetic antioxidant and antimicrobial *** may also be used for shelf life extension of food products.
