Splenectomy with chemotherapy vs surgery alone as initial treatment for splenic marginal zone lymphoma

AIM： To evaluate the clinical characteristics of splenic marginal-zone lymphoma （SMZL） following antigen expression and the influence of therapeutic approaches on clinical outcome and overall survival （OS）.METHODS： A total of 30 patients with typical histological and immunohistochemical SMZL patterns were examined. Splenectomy plus chemotherapy was applied in 20 patients, while splenectomy as a single treatment-option was performed in 10 patients. Prognostic factor and overall survival rate were analyzed.RESULTS： Complete remission （CR） was achieved in 20 （66.7%）, partial remission （PR） in seven （23.3%）, and lethal outcome due to disease progression occurred in three （10.0%） patients. Median survival of patients with a splenectomy was 93.0 mo and for patients with splenectomy plus chemotherapy it was 207.5 mo （Log rank = 0.056, P 〉 0.05）. Time from onset of first symptoms to the beginning of the treatment （mean 9.4 too） was influenced by spleen dimensions, as measured by computerized tomography and ultra-sound （t = 2.558, P = 0.018）. Strong positivity （＋＋＋） of CD20 antigen expression in splenic tissue had a positive influence on OS （Log rank = 5.244, P 〈 0.05）. The analysis of factors interfering with survival （by the Kaplan-Meier method） revealed that gender, general symptoms, clinical stage, and spleen infiltration type （nodular vs diffuse） had no significant （P 〉 0.05） effects on the OS. The expression of other antigens （immunohistochemistry） also had no effect on survival-rate, as measured by a χ^2 test （P 〉 0.05）.CONCLUSION： Initial splenectomy combined with chemotherapy has been shown to be beneficial due to its advanced remission rate/duration; however, a larger controlled clinical study is required to confirm our findings.

The article is deals for new experimental equipment for effective test adhesion for selected coating STEEL, applied cold on the coated metal sheet with Al (aluminum). Explanation to the word STEEL: STEEL coating has significant anti- corrosive properties and he is resistant for main oxidizing agents such as acids, alkalis, salt vapors etc. Resists tem- peratures to 600?C and create an elastic film that is resistant to abrasion, as soon as it was to complete po-lymerization. It is very simple to applied to metallic and nonmetallic surfaces. Dries quickly and is dry to the touch after 90 to 120 seconds. STEEL is the best possible solution anywhere, if needs arises powerful local protection against atmospheric and corrosive agents or to elevated temperatures. STEEL is also useful as a method for protect of welds on stainless steels instead of traditional staining procedures. Broad application is in automotive industry to modify the surfaces of block vehicle, car-body repairs, welds needing protection, in heating industry for example boilers, in air condition with heat exchanger and in shipping industry. [1-3].In experiments with a new test equipment is showed that for bending radius of interval from range R11 to R35 there is a change deposited coating STEEL from original coating Al and this coating was part of test metal sheet of thickness 1.5 mm. In the next stage of solution was developed technological process, which allowed increase of adhesion coating STEEL for bending up to or maximum 180? (shape U). Result of new technology is documented in article. Experiments was implementing with cooperation of the Masaryk University in Brno.

In recent years, the status of leaders has been highlighted and their role has been often overstated. The aim of the contribution is to show that in conditions of the armed forces, the role and the competence of the manager are often more important than competence of a leader. On the basis of the experience of the authors and more experienced officers, and by means of methods of targeted interviews and discussions, the areas have been identified where management capabilities are more important than leadership capabilities. More than 30 experienced officers have contributed their views on the presented results. There are areas, such as strategy, environment, organizational culture, external and internal changes, efficiency, and results and performance. In conclusion, authors suggested solution for nomination of leaders and managers to command positions.

为了解大蟾蜍( Bufo bufo)的配对成功是否与身体大小有关,在蟾蜍产卵之前,我们在斯洛文尼亚捕捉和测量了2 224只成体样本。在这些捕获的个体中, 1 772只为雄性, 452只为雌性,其中355对处于抱对状态。雌性的体长(从吻端到泄殖腔的距离)一般比雄性稍长。无论雄性还是雌性,抱对者的体长均大于未抱对者。抱对的雄性和雌性的体长具有显著的正相关。我们所发现的大小匹配的交配模式,与从其它普通蟾蜍种群得到的结果一致[动物学报51 (3) : 513 -515 , 2005]。

In most cases, copper ore deposits occur at great depths, so the optimization of excavation costs is of utmost importance to identify the most cost effective and productive mining methods, such as block caving or similar methods specifically developed for these deposits. To be able to apply such methods, it is necessary to have a detailed knowledge of the rock mass in terms of its geomechanical, engineering geological and hydrogeological characteristics. This research aims to reduce geological and geotechnical unknowns, analyze in detail the geological environment, and predict geotechnical conditions for the construction of the shaft. This paper uses the example of Borska Reka Copper Deposit, located in Serbia to illustrate the importance of geotechnical investigation to enable best practice in design and construction of shafts that are over 1000 m deep.

The aim of this work was to investigate the leaching of chalcopyrite concentrate in hydrochloric acid with hydrogen peroxide as a strong oxidizing agent. The effects of the leaching variables on metal extraction, such as stirring speed, solid-to-liquid ratio, temperature and HCl and H2O2 concentrations, were studied. The maximum final copper extraction of 33% was attained with 3.0 mol/L H2O2 in 0.5 mol/L HCl at room temperature after 180 min of the reaction. The results showed that the copper extraction was increased in the first 60 min of reaction, after which it essentially ceased due to the fast catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Further, solid-to-liquid ratio affected the copper extraction significantly and the highest copper extraction was obtained in the most dilute suspension（i.e., S/L ratio of 1：100）. The dissolution process was described by the first order kinetics equation. The apparent activation energy of 19.6 k J/mol suggested that the dissolution process was under diffusion control. The reaction orders for HCl and H2O2 were established to be 0.30 and 0.53, respectively. The results of the XRD and SEM/EDS analysis of the leaching residue indicated the generation of the elemental sulphur on mineral surfaces which tended to inhibit the leaching rate.

Specific cell subpopulations identified as cancer stem cells(CSCs)can be found in basal cell carcinoma(BCC).Generally,CSCs have a marked trans-differentiation potential that could potentially be used in differentiation ***,there are no studies regarding BCC CSCs *** aim of the study was to analyze the characteristic of CSCs of BCC with emphasis on their differentiation potential upon specific *** staining and cell morphology were used for differentiation confirmation,along with the expression analysis of osteogenic(ALP,BSP,Runx2,OCN,BMP2),chondrogenic(COL1 and COL2A1),adipogenic(PPAR-γ)and neurogenic(Nestin and MAP2)*** CSCs differentiated into osteogenic and chondrogenic lineages,as judged by staining and high expression of specific markers(from 2-to 92-fold higher upon induction).Concomitantly with differentiation,the levels of cancer stem cell markers decreased in the ***-differentiation and neuro-differentiation were *** conclusion,BCC CSCs exhibit the capacity to trans-differentiate,a characteristic that may potentially be useful in the development of new strategies for the treatment of aggressive BCCs.

Hyperspectral reflectance contains valuable information about leaf functional traits,which can indicate a plant's physiological ***,using hyperspectral reflectance for high-throughput phenotyping of foliar traits could be a powerful tool for tree breeders and nursery practitioners to distinguish and select seedlings with desired adaptation potential to local *** evaluated the use of 2 nondestructive methods(i.e.,leaf and proximal/canopy)measuring hyperspectral reflectance in the 350-to 2,500-nm range for phenotyping on 1,788 individual Scots pine seedlings belonging to lowland and upland ecotypes of 3 different local populations from the Czech ***-level measurements were collected using a spectroradiometer and a contact probe with an internal light source to measure the biconical reflectance factor of a sample of needles placed on a black background in the contact probe field of *** proximal canopy measurements were collected under natural solar light,using the same spectroradiometer with fiber optical cable to collect data on individual seedlings'hemispherical conical reflectance *** latter method was highly susceptible to changes in incoming *** spectral datasets showed statistically significant differences among Scots pine populations in the whole spectral ***,using random forest and support vector machine learning algorithms,the proximal data obtained from the top of the seedlings offered up to 83%accuracy in predicting 3 different Scots pine *** conclude that both approaches are viable for hyperspectral phenotyping to disentangle the phenotypic and the underlying genetic variation within Scots pine seedlings.
