A simple multiplex PCR for assessing prevalence of extended-spectrumβ-lactamases producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Intensive Care Units of a referral hospital in Shiraz,Iran

Objective:To identify three common genes(bla_(TEM),bla_(SHV)and bla_(CTX-M)responsible for ESBL production in Klebsiella pneumnniae(***)isolated from Intensive Care Units of Namazi Hospital,Shiraz,***:A total of 60 non-repetitive nosocomial isolates from 60patients were selected during *** phenotypic identification of ESBL production was confirmed by Double Disk Synergy Test(DDST)according to CLSI *** ESBL's genotype was then analyzed by multiplex PCR of bla_(TEM),bla_(SHV)and bla_(CTX-M)genes and DNA ***:The primary susceptibility tests of *** showed that among 10 examined antibiotics,the most resistant and susceptible antibiotics identified in this study were ampicillin and imipenem,*** phenotypic determination of ESBL by DDST showed that 60%(n=36)of isolates produced *** PCR of genes among *** isolates showed that 39%(n=18)of them have TEM,39%in=18)of then have both CTX-M and TEM and 13%(n=8)of them have TEM,SHV,***:Our findings reveal the high prevalence(60%)of ESBL prcxducing *** from ICL patients along with a new pattern of bla_(TEM)distribution differ from other countries.

Biomedical investigations in nanotherapeutics and nanomedicine have recently intensified in pursuit of new therapies with improved *** dots(QDs)are promising nanomaterials that possess a wide array of advantageous properties,including electronic properties,optical properties,and engineered biocompatibility under physiological *** to these characteristics,QDs are mainly used for biomedical labeling and theranostic(therapeutic-diagnostic)*** can be functionalized with ligands to facilitate their interaction with the immune system,specific IgE,and effector cell ***,undesirable side effects such as hypersensitivity and toxicity may occur,requiring further *** review systematically summarizes the potential uses of QDs in the allergy *** overview of the definition and development of QDs is provided,along with the applications of QDs in allergy studies,including the detection of allergen-specific IgE(sIgE),food allergens,and sIgE in cellular *** potential treatment of allergies with QDs is also described,highlighting the toxicity and biocompatibility of these ***,we discuss the current findings on the immunotoxicity of *** favorable points regarding the use of QDs for allergy diagnosis and treatment are noted.

Modification in Media Composition to Obtain Secretory Production of STxB-based Vaccines using Escherichia coli

Shiga toxin B-subunit （STxB） from Shigella dysenteriae targets in vivo antigen to cancer cells, dendritic cells （DC） and B cells, which preferentially express the globotriaosylceramide （Gb3） receptor. This pivotal role has encouraged scientists to investigate fusing STxB with other clinical antigens. Due to the challenges of obtaining a functional soluble form of the recombinant STxB, such as formation of inclusion bodies during protein expression, scientists tend to combine STxB with vaccine candidates rather than using their genetically fused forms. In this work, we fused HPV16 E7 as a vaccine candidate to the recombinantly-produced STxB. To minimize the formation of inclusion bodies, we investigated a number of conditions during the expression procedure. Then various strategies were used in order to obtain high yield of soluble recombinant protein from E. coli which included the use of different host strains, reduction of cultivation temperature, as well as using different concentrations of IPTG and different additives （Glycin, Triton X-100, ZnC12）. Our study demonstrated the importance of optimizing incubation parameters for recombinant protein expression in E. coli; also showed that the secretion production can be achieved over the course of a few hours when using additives such as glycine and Triton X-100. Interestingly, it was shown that when the culture mediums were supplemented by additives, there was an inverse ratio between time of induction （TOI） and the level of secreted protein at lower temperatures. This study determines the optimal conditions for high yield soluble E7-STxB expression and subsequently facilitates reaching a functionally soluble form of STxB-based vaccines, which can be considered as a potent vaccine candidate for cervical cancer.

Effects of copper content on microstructure and mechanical properties of open-cell steel foams

The effects of copper content on the microstructural and mechanical properties of steel foams are investigated. Spherical urea granules, used as a water-leachable space holder, were coated with a mixture of iron, ultrafine carbon, and different amounts of copper powders. After the mixture was compacted and the space holder was removed by leaching, a sintering process was performed under an atmosphere of thermally dissociated ammonia. Microstructural evaluations of the cell walls were carried out using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy in conjunction with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. In addition, compression tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical properties of the manufactured steel foams. The results showed that the total porosity decreases from 77.2% to 71.9% with increasing copper content in the steel foams. In the foams' microstructure, copper islands are mostly distributed in pearlite and intergranular carbide phases are formed in the grain boundaries. When the copper content was increased from 0 to 4 wt%, the elastic modulus, plateau stress, fracture stress, and fracture strain of manufactured steel foams improved 4.5, 6, 6.4, and 2.5 times, respectively.

Nonlinear vibration analysis of a circular micro-plate in two-sided NEMS/MEMS capacitive system by using harmonic balance method

In this study, forced nonlinear vibration of a circular micro-plate under two-sided electrostatic, two-sided Casimir and external harmonic forces is investigated analytically. For this purpose, at first, von Karman plate theory including geometrical nonlinearity is used to obtain the deflection of the micro-plate. Galerkin decomposition method is then employed, and nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) of motion are determined. A harmonic balance method (HBM) is applied to equations and analytical relation for nonlineaT frequency response (F-R) curves are derived for two categories (including and neglecting Casimir force) separately. The analytical results for three cases:(1) semi-linear vibration;(2) weakly nonlinear vibration;(3) highly non linear vibration, are validated by comparing with the numerical solutio ns. After validation, the effects of the voltage and Casimir force on the natural frequency of two-sided capacitor system are investigated. It is shown that by assuming Casimir force in small gap distances, reduction of the natural frequency is considerable. The influences of the applied voltage, damping, micro-plate thickness and Casimir force on the frequency response curves have been presented too. The results of this study can be useful for modeling circular parallel-plates in nano /microelectromechanical transducers such as microphones and pressure sensors.

Robust Finite-time Synchronization of Non-identical Fractional-order Hyperchaotic Systems and Its Application in Secure Communication

This paper proposes a novel adaptive sliding mode control(SMC) method for synchronization of non-identical fractional-order(FO) chaotic and hyper-chaotic systems. Under the existence of system uncertainties and external disturbances,finite-time synchronization between two FO chaotic and hyperchaotic systems is achieved by introducing a novel adaptive sliding mode controller(ASMC). Here in this paper, a fractional sliding surface is proposed. A stability criterion for FO nonlinear dynamic systems is introduced. Sufficient conditions to guarantee stable synchronization are given in the sense of the Lyapunov stability theorem. To tackle the uncertainties and external disturbances, appropriate adaptation laws are introduced. Particle swarm optimization(PSO) is used for estimating the controller parameters. Finally, finite-time synchronization of the FO chaotic and hyper-chaotic systems is applied to secure communication.

Azole derivatives embedded in montmorillonite clay nanocarriers as corrosion inhibitors of mild steel

Azole derivatives such as 2-mercaptobenzothiazole(MBT) and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole(MBI) were introduced as corrosion inhibitors into the interlayer space of sodium montmorillonite clay(Na+-MMT). The corrosion protection behavior of mild steel in solutions containing MBT, MBI, MMT + MBT, MMT + MBI, Na^+-MMT, and NaCl(3.5 wt%) was evaluated using polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). Also, the release of penetrated species into the medium from the clay nanocarriers was evaluated using ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis) spectroscopy. Small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS) confirmed the insertion of MBT and MBI into the inner space of the clay layers and the interaction between two organic and inorganic phases. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was used to assess the morphology of the surface of the steel samples after the samples had been immersed for 24 h in the extraction solution. The corrosion protection in the solutions with clay nanocarriers containing MBT and MBI was better than that in solutions without MMT. The UV-Vis results showed that the release of MBI species from Na+-MMT nanocarriers in neutral pH was far lower than that of MBT species.

Three-dimensional finite difference analysis of shallow sprayed concrete tunnels crossing a reverse fault or a normal fault: A parametric study
