A Parallel Approach to Discords Discovery in Massive Time Series Data

A discord is a refinement of the concept of an anomalous subsequence of a time *** one of the topical issues of time series mining,discords discovery is applied in a wide range of real-world areas(medicine,astronomy,economics,climate modeling,predictive maintenance,energy consumption,etc.).In this article,we propose a novel parallel algorithm for discords discovery on high-performance cluster with nodes based on many-core accelerators in the case when time series cannot fit in the main *** assumed that the time series is partitioned across the cluster nodes and achieved parallelization among the cluster nodes as well as within a single *** a cluster node,the algorithm employs a set of matrix data structures to store and index the subsequences of a time series,and to provide an efficient vectorization of computations on the *** each node,the algorithm processes its own partition and performs in two phases,namely candidate selection and discord refinement,with each phase requiring one linear scan through the *** the local discords found are combined into the global candidate set and transmitted to each cluster ***,a node performs refinement of the global candidate set over its own partition resulting in the local true discord ***,the global true discords set is constructed as intersection of the local true discord *** experimental evaluation on the real computer cluster with real and synthetic time series shows a high scalability of the proposed algorithm.

Forward scattering micro radar is used for situation awareness; its operational range is relatively short because of the battery power and local horizon, the free space propagation model is not appropriate. The ground moving targets, such as humans, cars and tanks, have only comparable size with the transmitted signal wavelength; the point target model and the linear change of observation angle are not applicable. In this paper, the signal model of ground moving target is developed based on the case of forward scattering micro radar, considering the two-ray propagation model and area target model, and nonlinear change of observation angle as well as high order phase error. Furthermore, the analytical form of the received power from moving target has been obtained. Using the simulated forward scattering radar cross section, the received power of theoretical calculation is near to that of measured data. In addition, the simulated signal model of ground moving target is perfectly matched with the experimented data. All these results show the correctness of analytical calculation completely.

Identification of individuals at risk for developing Alzheimers disease (AD) is an important issue for its pretreatment. Perspective studies predicting the disease are based on the genetic approaches emerging from the nucleotide polymorphism analysis in different loci through the entire genome in AD patients. Considerable diversity of genes located in these regions raise the question of this diversity's peculiar role in the disease development. The mechanisms of AD have been shown to be associated with the gene variation, increased beta-amyloid production and concomitant epileptiform activity/epilepsy in particular (Palop and Mucke, 2009).

Surface layer of a loaded solid is an individual structural level of deformation that was shown numerously within concept oI physical mesomechanics. This gives rise to advance in its deformation development under loading as well as allows using this phenomenon to sense the strain induced structure changes. It is of specific importance for composite materials since they are highly heterogeneous while estimating their mechanical state is a topical applied problem. Fatigue tests of carbon fiber compo- site specimens were carried out for cyclic deformation estimation with the use of strain sensors made of thin （80 jam） alumi- num foil glued to the specimen＇s surface. The surface images were captured by DSLR camera mounted onto an optical micro- scope. Strain relief to form during cyclic loading was numerically estimated using different parameters： dispersion, mean square error, universal image quality index, fractal dimension and energy of Fourier spectrum. The results are discussed in view of deformation mismatch in thin foil and bulk specimen and are offered to be applied for the development of Structural Health Monitoring （SHM） approach.

From 1540 inelastic interactions of 3. 7A GeV 160 projectile with emulsion nuclei, we select samples of 87 and 61 events carefully due to interactions of neutron （n） and singly charged particles （Z = 1）, respectively. New results concerning the topology of such events are investigated. The average multiplicities of secondary relativistic particles that appear as shower tracks for n and Z = 1 stay more or less constant when compared with analogous data on p-Em at similar energy. The multiplicity distributions and the average values of the various secondary charged particles are studied and compared with the corresponding predictions by the cascade evaporation model. The results assume that the n or Z = 1 from 16O collide peripherally with an emulsion target and are considered as an expansion to the N-N collisions.

The elastic indentation modulus and hardness of standard bulk materials and advanced thin films were determined by using the nanoindentation technique followed by the Oliver- Pharr post-treatment. After measurements with different loading/unloading schemes on chemically polished bulk titanium a substantial decrease of both modulus and hardness vs an increasing loading time was found. Then, hard nanostructured TiBN and TiCrBN thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering （using multiphase targets） on substrates of high roughness （sintered hard metal） and low roughness （silicon） were studied. Experimental modulus and hardness characterized by using two different nanoindenter tools were within the limits of standard deviation. However, a strong effect of roughness on the spread of the experimental values was observed and it was found that hardness and elastic indentation modulus obeyed a Gaussian distribution. The experimental data were discussed together with scanning probe microscopy （SPM） images of typical imprints taken after the nanoindentation tests and the local topographyls strong correlation with the results of nanoindentation was described.

Objective:This study aimed to assess the knowledge of family physicians regarding child-hood ***:The study is a one-way cross-sectional descriptive study,conducted between Janu-ary and March *** study involved 70 family physicians who were working and/or studying for a master degree in the School of Medicine,Suez Canal *** researcher collected the sociodemographic characteristics,and then the participants completed the Knowledge about Child-hood Autism among Healthcare Workers(KCAHW)***:The total KCAHW score was 11.2±3.5(mean±standard deviation),the domain with the highest score was domain 1(5.6±1.8),and family physicians with previous experience had a higher mean score than physicians with no previous experience(12.9±2.7 and 10.7±3.5 respectively).In addition,there was a significant positive correlation between the mean KCAHW score and both the duration of practicing and earlier experience of ***:There is a lack of knowledge of autism among family physicians;they need more training on autism to increase their awareness to improve early detection and intervention so as to improve the quality of life and care of children with autism.

Although the antiestrogen agent tamoxifen has long been used to treat women with hormone receptor positive inva-sive breast carcinoma, the mechanisms of its action and acquired resistance to tamoxifen during treatment are largelyunknown. A number of studies have revealed that over-activation of some signaling pathways can cause tamoxifenresistance; however, very little information is available regarding the genes whose loss-of-function alternation contrib-ute to tamoxifen resistance. Here we used a forward genetic approach in vitro to generate tamoxifen resistant cells fromthe tamoxifen sensitive breast cancer cell line ZR-75-1, and further identified the disrupted gene in different tamoxifenresistant clones. Retinol binding protein 7, DNA polymerase-transactivated protein 3, γ-glutamyltransferase-like activity 1,slit-robo RhoGTPase-activating protein, tetraspan NET-4, HSPC194, amiloride-sensitive epithelial sodium channel gene,and Notch2, were the eight mutated genes identified in different tamoxifen resistant clones, suggesting their requirementfor tamoxifen sensitivity in ZR-75-1 cells. Since the functions of these genes are not related to each other, it suggeststhat multiple pathways can influence tamoxifen sensitivity in breast cancer cells.
