Anatomical basis for pancreas transplantation via isolated splenic artery perfusion:A literature review

The variability of vascular anatomy of the pancreas underlines the difficulty of its *** regarding the consistency of anatomical variations shows splenic arterial dominance in most *** can significantly improve transplantation success.A systematic literature review was performed according to the quality standards described in the AMSTAR measurement tool and the PRISMA *** valuated existing literature regarding the vascularization and blood perfusion patterns of the pancreas in terms of dominance and *** collected data was independently analyzed by two *** of vascular anatomy was seen to be underreported in literature,though significant findings have been included and discussed in this study,providing valuable insight into the dynamics of pancreatic perfusion and feasibility of transplantation on several different supplying *** splenic artery(SA)has a high percentage of consistency in all found studies(over 90%).High frequency of anastomoses between arterial pools supplying the pancreas can mediate sufficient blood supply through a dominant vessel,such as the SA,which is present in most *** transplantation with isolated SA blood supply can provide sufficient arterial perfusion of the pancreas for stable transplant viability due to high anatomical consistency of the SA and vast communications with other arterial systems.

An application of space-filling curves to improve results of turbulent aerodynamics modeling with convolutional neural networks

When carrying out calculations for turbulent flow simulation,one inevitably has to face the choice between accuracy and speed of *** order to simultaneously obtain both a computationally efficient and more accurate model,a surrogate model can be built on the basis of some fast special model and knowledge of previous calculations obtained by more accurate base models from various test bases or some results of serial *** objective of this work is to construct a surrogate model which allows to improve the accuracy of turbulent calculations obtained by a special model on unstructured *** this purpose,we use 1D Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)of the encoder-decoder architecture and reduce the problem to a single dimension by applying space-filling *** an approach would have the benefit of being applicable to solutions obtained on unstructured *** this work,a non-local approach is applied where entire flow fields obtained by the special and base models are used as input and ground truth output ***-Allmaras(SA)model and Near-wall Domain Decomposition(NDD)method for SA are taken as the base and special models *** efficiency and accuracy of the obtained surrogate model are demonstrated in a case of supersonic flow over a compression corner with different values for angleαand Reynolds number *** conducted an investigation into interpolation and extrapolation by Re and also into interpolation byα.

From Dyakonov-Cherenkov radiation to Dyakonov surface optics

Cherenkov radiation by swift charged particles in a dielectric medium has been used for a long time as an effective means for particle detection and measurements of their *** a team led by *** Luo from Singapore considers a situation when the particle emits surface electromagnetic waves at the interface between an isotropic and a uniaxial-birefringent medium(Dyakonov surface waves6).The resulting Dyakonov-Cherenkov radiation is shown to be highly sensitive to both the value and the direction of the particle *** particular,it is shown that close to the Cherenkov threshold,the radiation intensity can be several orders of magnitude greater than that in traditional Qierenkov *** new features allow to determine simultaneously the magnitude and direction of particle velocities on a compact platform(Fig.1).

Throughout human history, doctors and healers have gathered and refined the knowledge inherited from the previous generations. Different methods of effective therapy have been designed during various historical periods;when each was developed, it was considered "modern scientific medicine" for their time. Mankind has gone through natural and social disasters and survived;hence, history has proved there was no time when medical knowledge was eironeous or ineffective. Classic medicine has grown to be divided into narrow, specialized branches, causing it to lose its holistic approach and general view on health, sickness and therapeutic methods. Many of traditional medicine's effective methods have been forgotten and removed from the mainstream medicine. It would be good for modern medical education to incorporate the general knowledge of historically effective therapeutic modalities and study practical cases. Medical students should be taught how to choose a "good method" or "good medicine" independent of when that method or remedy was discovered. However, he has to keep in mind the primary goal of medicine:"I will use treatment to help the sick according to my ability and judgment..."(from Hippocratic Oath).

This report reviews the most important episodes in the history of designing the self-propelled automatic chassis of the first mobile extraterrestrial vehicle in the world, Lunokhod-1. The review considers the issues in designing moon rovers, their essential features, and the particular construction properties of their systems, mechanisms, units, and assemblies. It presents the results of exploiting the chassis of Lunokhod-1 and Lunokhod-2. Analysis of the approaches utilized and engineering solutions reveals their value as well as the consequences of certain defects.

Pre-processing for time domain image formation in SS-BSAR system

A pre-processing procedure is designed for a space-surface bistatic synthetic aperture radar （SS-BSAR） system when a time domain image formation algorithm is employed. Three crucial technical issues relating to the procedure are fully discussed. Firstly, unlike image formation algorithms operating in the frequency domain, a time domain algorithm requires the accurate global navigation satellite system （GNSS） time and position. This paper proposes acquisition of this information using a time-and-spatial transfer with precise ephemeris and interpolation. Secondly, synchronization errors and compensation methods in SS-BSAR are analyzed. Finally, taking the non-ideal factors in the echo and the compatibility of image formation algorithms into account, a matched filter based on the minimum delay is constructed. Experimental result using real data suggest the pre-processing is functioning properly.

Research Progress on Cathode Electrolyte Interphase in High-Voltage Lithium Batteries

Achieving high energy density batteries is currently a key focus in the field of energy storage. Lithium batteries, due to their high energy density, have garnered significant attention in research. Increasing the upper limit of the battery’s cut-off voltage can boost the energy density of lithium batteries. However, high-voltage conditions can lead to irreversible phase transitions and side reactions in cathode materials, which can degrade battery performance and even result in safety risks, including explosions. The electrolyte can also decompose, causing capacity loss and releasing flammable gases when subjected to high voltage, which can lead to battery swelling and potential combustion and explosions. Designing an ideal cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) on the cathode’s surface to regulate the electrode-electrolyte interface reaction can effectively enhance the cycling stability of the battery, reduce irreversible phase transitions in the cathode, and improve the oxidation stability of the electrolyte. The ideal CEI should possess high ion conductivity, high thermal stability, and should minimize interface side reactions to ensure optimal battery performance. Understanding the formation and development of CEI is crucial for enhancing battery performance under high voltage. Apart from creating artificial CEI, modifying electrolytes has gained significant attention. By altering the electrolyte recipe, an ideal CEI can be achieved. Electrolyte engineering is considered an effective strategy for attaining an ideal CEI and enhancing the stability of high nickel positive electrodes. This approach is simple, cost-effective, and holds great promise for achieving higher energy density in lithium batteries. To provide a better understanding of CEI in lithium ion batteries (LIBs), this article reviews the latest advancements in CEI, including the formation mechanism of CEI, the key factors influencing CEI, methods for modifying CEI, and techniques for characterizing CE

An essential stage of mine design is an estimation of the steps of the first and periodic roof caving in longwall ***,this is carried out using the field experience and can be much enhanced by numerical *** this work,the finite-difference method was applied coupled with the continuum damage mechanics(CDM)approach to simulate the stress-strain evolution of the rock mass with the underground opening during coal *** steps and stages of roof caving were estimated relying on the numerical simulation data,and they were compared with the field data from several operating mines in the south of the Kuznetsk Basin,*** dependence of the first roof caving step in simulation linearly correlates with field *** results correspond to the actual roofs of longwall panels of the flat-dipping coal seams and the average rate of face advancement is approximately 5 m/day.
