Influence of the operating temperature on the ageing and interfaces of double layer polymer electrolyte solid state Li metal batteries

Solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs)are considered an auspicious technology to develop high energy density and safe energy storage *** double layer polymer electrolyte(DLPE)is a rational approach for engineering high-performance SSLMBs addressing electrolyte requirements with specifically designed polymers at the positive electrode and as *** this work,SSLMBs were assembled with poly(propylene carbonate)(PPC),offering stability toward oxidation at the positive electrode,and a gel polymer electrolyte with polyethyleneglycol dimethylether(PEGDME)as separator,offering high ionic conductivity at low temperature and sufficient interfacial stability with Li *** electrochemical properties and performance of cells with LiFePO_(4) and Li[Ni_(0.6)Mn_(0.2)Co_(0.2)]O_(2) positive electrodes are thoroughly investigated as function of the operating temperature by using a host of characterization ***-voltage cells with an areal capacity of 0.7 mAh·cm^(−2)cycled at 40℃ exhibit a higher capacity retention than the cells cycled at 70℃.To understand such differences,a three-electrode setup is applied to discriminate anodic processes from cathodic as function of the *** elucidate the ageing and interfacial evolution for DLPE cells with gel polymer electrolytes paving the way for building performance solid state batteries.

Despite the efforts devoted to the identification of new electrode materials with higher specific capacities and electrolyte additives to mitigate the well-known limitations of current lithium-ion batteries,this technology is believed to have almost reached its energy density *** suffers also of a severe safety concern ascribed to the use of flammable liquid-based *** this regard,solid-state electrolytes(SSEs)enabling the use of lithium metal as anode in the so-called solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs)are considered as the most desirable solution to tackle the aforementioned *** emerging technology has rapidly evolved in recent years thanks to the striking advances gained in the domain of electrolyte materials,where SSEs can be classified according to their core chemistry as organic,inorganic,and hybrid/composite *** strategic review presents a critical analysis of the design strategies reported in the field of SSEs,summarizing their main advantages and disadvantages,and providing a future perspective toward the rapid development of SSLMB technology.

Development of the telencephalon relies upon several signaling centers-localized cellular populations that supply secreted factors to pattern the cortical *** such signaling center is the cortical hem,which arises during embryonic development at the telencephalic dorsal midline,adjacent to the choroid plexus and hippocampal primordium(Figure 1A).While the cortical hem has also been described in reptiles and birds,most of our knowledge about the developmental roles of the cortical hem is derived from the analysis in *** cortical hem produces several types of secreted molecules,including wingless-related integration site(Wnt)and bone morphogenetic(Bmp)*** cortical hem is particularly important for the development of the hippocampus,which is involved in learning and memory,and the neocortex,which is the most complex brain region that mediates multiple types of behavior and higher cognitive functions(Mangale et al.,2008;Dal-Valle-Anton and Borrell,2022).

Split-root systems applied to the study of the legume-rhizobial symbiosis: What have we learned?

Split-root system（SRS） approaches allow the differential treatment of separate and independent root systems, while sharing a common aerial part. As such, SRS is a useful tool for the discrimination of systemic（shoot origin）versus local（root/nodule origin） regulation mechanisms. This type of approach is particularly useful when studying the complex regulatory mechanisms governing the symbiosis established between legumes and Rhizobium bacteria. The current work provides an overview of the main insights gained from the application of SRS approaches to understand how nodule number（nodulation autoregulation） and nitrogen fixation are controlled both under non-stressful conditions and in response to a variety of stresses. Nodule number appears to be mainly controlled at the systemic level through a signal which is produced by nodule/root tissue, translocated to the shoot, and transmitted back to the root system, involving shoot Leu-rich repeat receptor-like kinases. In contrast, both local and systemic mechanisms have been shown to operate for the regulation of nitrogenase activity in nodules. Under drought and heavy metal stress, the regulation is mostly local,whereas the application of exogenous nitrogen seems to exert a regulation of nitrogen fixation both at the local and systemic levels.

Risk Assessment of a Stochastic Service System

A stochastic service system of finite size M is comprised of identical service facilities,including or not a waiting queue,which simultaneously treats N customers,N∈{0,1,…,M}.Depending on the concepts of system information *** system entropy S=£(f),we promote a risk assessment *** definition,the system entropy is the uncertainty associated with the system,and the system expected loss is the risk associated with the ***,accepting the system information as loss function,we can identify risk and uncertainty,associated with the system,using the entropy as risk ***,we differ risk of the system(i.e.,risk observed by an outside observer),risk observed by an arriving customer,and risk observed by a departing customer,giving a separate expression for each ***,these risks are compared with each other,when the system has the same average number E(N)of customers seen by any *** three risk types(together with the three customer means)allow us to distinguish two systems obeying the same probability *** approach enables system operators to choose suitable values for system utilization and size,in view of the three risks *** developed procedure is applied to the information linear system,Erlang loss system,single-server queueing system with discouraged arrivals,Binomial system and Engset loss system.

The Functional Role of the Hollow Region of the Butterfly Pyrameis atalanta (L.) Scale

Questions concerning the functional role of the hollow region of the butterfly Pyrameis atalanta （L.） scale are experimentally investigated. Attention was initially directed to this problem by observation of the complex microstrucmre of the butterfly scale as well as other studies indicating higher lift on butterfly wings covered with scale. The aerodynamic forces were measured for two oscillating scale models. Results indicated that the air cavity of an oscillating model of the Pyrameis atalanta （L.） scale increased the lift by a factor of 1.15 and reduced the damping coefficients by a factor of 1.38. The modification of the aerodynamic effects on the model of butterfly scale was due to an increase of the virtual air mass, which influenced the body. The hollow region of the scale increased the virtual air mass by a factor of 1.2. The virtual mass of the butterfly scale with the hollow region was represented as the sum of air mass of two imaginary geometrical figures： a circular cylinder around the scale and a right-angled parallelepiped within the hollow region. The interaction mechanism of the butterfly Pyrameis atalanta （L.） scale with a flow was described. This novel interaction mechanism explained most geometrical features of the airpermeable butterfly scale （inverted V-profile of the ridges, nozzle of the tip edge, hollow region, and openings of the upper lamina） and their arrangement.

To the Editor:We read with great interest the recent article by Zhu et al.[1].In the study,the authors analyzed the outcomes of 26 patients diagnosed with hepatic artery occlusion(HAO)and treated with an endovascular approach(EVT)within the first 30 days after ortho-topic liver transplantation(LT).The median interval from LT to EVT was 7 days,most patients were treated with angioplasty and only two(7.7%)needed stent *** authors should be congrat-ulated as they achieved a 100%of success rate with an 80.8%of 1-year survival rate.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the leading cause of chronic liver disease in the western world(1).Currently,the global prevalence of NAFLD is estimated at 30%and is notably higher in South America and the Middle East(1).NAFLD prevalence has been rising during the last decades,and cases of decompensated NAFLD cirrhosis could increase by 168%in 2030(Figure 1A)(2).These trends are probably explained by several factors including the decrease in viral hepatitis incidence and the increasing prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)among the general population(2).

Vibrations characterization in milling of low stiffness parts with a rubber-based vacuum fixture

Fixtures are a critical element in machining operations as they are the interface between the part and the *** components are responsible for the precise part location on the machine table and for the proper dynamic stability maintenance during the manufacturing *** these two features are deeply related,they are usually studied *** the one hand,diverse adaptable solutions have been developed for the clamping of different variable ***,the stability of the part has been long studied to reduce the forced vibration and the chatter effects,especially on thin parts machining operations typically performed in the aeronautic field,such as the skin panels *** present work proposes a commitment between both features by the presentation of an innovative vacuum fixture based on the use of a vulcanized rubber *** solution presents high flexibility as it can be adapted to different geometries while providing a proper damping capacity due to the viscoelastic and elastoplastic behaviour of these ***,the sealing properties of these elastomers provide the perfect combination to transform a rubber layer into a flexible vacuum ***,in order to validate the suitability of this fixture,a test bench is manufactured and tested under uniaxial compression loads and under real finish milling conditions over AA2024 part ***,a roughness model is proposed and analysed in order to characterize the part vibration sources.

Therapies such as direct tension-free microsurgical repair or transplantation of a nerve autograft,are nowadays used to treat traumatic peripheral nerve injuries（PNI）,focused on the enhancement of the intrinsic regenerative potential of injured ***,these therapies fail to recreate the suitable cellular and molecular microenvironment of peripheral nerve repair and in some cases,the functional recovery of nerve injuries is ***,new biomedical engineering strategies based on tissue engineering approaches through molecular intervention and scaffolding offer promising outcomes on the *** this sense,evidence is accumulating in both,preclinical and clinical settings,indicating that platelet-rich plasma products,and fibrin scaffold obtained from this technology,hold an important therapeutic potential as a neuroprotective,neurogenic and neuroinflammatory therapeutic modulator system,as well as enhancing the sensory and motor functional nerve muscle unit recovery.
