Noble metal nanoparticles support localized surface plasmon resonances(LSPRs)that are extremely sensitive to the local dielectric properties of the environment within distances up to 10–100 nm from the metal *** significant overlap between the sensing volume of the nanoparticles and the size of biological macromolecules has made LSPR biosensing a key field for the application of *** advancements in evaluating plasmonic refractometric sensors have suggested that the phase detection of light can surpass the sensitivity of standard intensity-based detection ***,we experimentally confirm that the phase of light can be used to precisely track local refractive index changes induced by biomolecular reactions,even for dilute and layers of short-range-ordered plasmonic *** particular,we demonstrate that the sensitivity can be enhanced by tuning in to a zero reflection condition,in which an abrupt phase flip of the reflected light is *** a cost-effective interference fringe tracking technique,we demonstrate that phase measurements yield an approximately one order of magnitude larger relative shift compared with traditional LSPR measurements for the model system of NeutrAvidin binding to biotinylated nanodisks.

This research investigates a numerical simulation of swirling turbulent non-premixed *** effects on the combustion characteristics are examined with three turbulence models:namely as the Reynolds stress model,spectral turbulence analysis and Re-Normalization *** addition,the P-1 and discrete ordinate(DO)models are used to simulate the radiative heat transfer in this *** governing equations associated with the required boundary conditions are solved using the numerical *** accuracy of this model is validated with the published experimental data and the comparison elucidates that there is a reasonable agreement between the obtained values from this model and the corresponding experimental *** different models proposed in this research,the Reynolds stress model with the Probability Density Function(PDF)approach is more accurate(nearly up to 50%)than other turbulent models for a swirling flow *** the effect of radiative heat transfer model,it is observed that the discrete ordinate model is more precise than the P-1 model in anticipating the experimental *** model is able to simulate the subcritical nature of the isothermal flow as well as the size and shape of the internal recirculation induced by the swirl due to combustion.

The volatile and sensory profile of pasteurized(95℃,18 min)and sterilized(120℃,14 min)tomato soup and its changes at accelerated storage conditions(37℃and 42℃)were identified,characterized,and correlated by predictive *** led to more profound changes over storage compared to pasteurisation,showing enhanced levels of‘dark'odour,‘burnt'flavour,and‘complexity',while pasteurized soup had more pronounced‘green'odour,‘vegetables'flavour,‘harmony',and‘freshness'.Over time,‘dark'and‘burnt'significantly increased for sterilized soups,whereas‘green'decreased significantly only for sterilized soup stored at 42℃.The changes of‘dark',‘green',‘off-flavour,‘burnt',‘har mony',and‘freshness'were associated with formation of furans(furfural and 2-acetyl-5-methylfuran),and decline of unsaturated aldehydes like E-2-octenal and E,E-2,*** compounds were identified to represent potential shelf-life markers,yet more studies on their odour activity in the tomato soup matrix are necessary to understand their contribution to the sensory *** construction of partial least squares models allowed the prediction of‘green',‘off-flavour',‘burnt',and‘freshness'based on selected *** models will be important tools in the process of predicting the end of shelf life,but need to be supplemented with consumer acceptability levels.

AIM：. To study the effect of oral steroids upon clinical response and rectal mucosa secretion of eosinophil cationic protein （ECP）, myeloperoxidase （NPO）, basic fibroblast growth factor （bFGF）, vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and albumin in patients with collagenous colitis （CC）. METHODS： A segmental perfusion technique was used to collect perfusates from rectum of CC patients once before and twice （one and four weeks） after the start of steroid treatment. Clinical data was monitored and ECP, MPO, bFGF, VEGF and albumin concentrations were analyzed by immunochemical methods in perfusates and in serum. RESULTS： Steroids reduced the number of bowel movements by more than five times within one week and all patients reported improved subjective wellbeing at wk 1 and 4. At the same time, the median concentrations of ECP, bFGF, VEGF and albumin in rectal perfusates decreased significantly. MPO values were above the detection limit in only 3 patients before treatment and in none during treatment. VEGF, bFGF, ECP and albumin concentrations correlated with each other with the exception of ECP and albumin. A decrease of serum ECP and VEGF concentrations was also seen even if the overtime reduction was not significant.CONCLUSION： Oral steroid treatment in CC patients induced a simultaneous reduction of bowel movements and rectal release of ECP, bFGF, VEGF and albumin, suggesting that these polypeptides and increased mucosal permeability are important components of the pathophysiology in collagenous colitis.

The introduction of virtual reality (VR)-models in the city planning process will cause changes in the traditional roles of the involved parties. In order to better understand some of these changes, the events involving the use of VR-models in an architectural competition concerning rebuilding-proposals for the city library in a Swedish city were analyzed. The study shows that VR was introduced into the competition as an extra add-on and that the VR-presentation was experienced as useful by the jury. The transformation of the architects’ contributions into VR was experienced as problematic by the architects, partly because they lost full control over the presentation. In the future architects are likely to have to produce the VR-models for their proposals themselves. This may make it more difficult for smaller architectural firms to enter the market but their proposals will be more accessible to a wider group of stakeholders.

This paper outlines the fundamentals of a consistent theory of numerical modelling of a population system under study. The focus is on the systematic work to construct an executable simulation model. There are six fundamental choices of model category and model constituents to make. These choices have a profound impact on how the model is structured, what can be studied, possible introduction of bias, lucidity and comprehensibility, size, expandability, performance of the model, required information about the system studied and its range of validity. The first choice concerns a discrete versus a continuous description of the population system under study—a choice that leads to different model categories. The second choice is the model representation (based on agents, entities, compartments or situations) used to describe the properties and behaviours of the objects in the studied population. Third, incomplete information about structure, transitions, signals, initial conditions or parameter values in the system under study must be addressed by alternative structures and statistical means. Fourth, the purpose of the study must be explicitly formulated in terms of the quantities used in the model. Fifth, irrespective of the choice of representation, there are three possible types of time handling: Event Scheduling, Time Slicing or Micro Time Slicing. Sixth, start and termination criteria for the simulation must be stated. The termination can be at a fixed end time or determined by a logical condition. Population models can thereby be classified within a unified framework, and population models of one type can be translated into another type in a consistent way. Understanding the pros and cons for different choices of model category, representation, time handling etc. will help the modeller to select the most appropriate type of model for a given purpose and population system under study.
