Glycogen constitutes the major car.on storage source in cyanobacteria, as starch in algae and higher plants. Glycogen and starch synthesis is linked to active photosynthesis and both of them are degraded to glucose in the dark to maintain cell metabolism. Control of glycogen biosynthesis in cyanobacteria could be mediated by the regulation of the enzymes involved in this process, ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase （AGP） and glycogen synthase, which were identified as putative thioredoxin targets. We have analyzed whether both enzymes were subjected to redox modification using purified recombinant enzymes or cell extracts in the model cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. our results indicate that both AGP and glycogen synthases are sensitive to copper oxidation. However, only AGP exhibits a decrease in its enzymatic activity, which is recovered after reduction by DTT or reduced thioredoxin （TrxA）, suggesting a redox control of AGP. In order to elucidate the role in redox control of the cysteine residues present on the AGP sequence （C45, C185, C320, and C337）, they were replaced with serine. All AGP mutant proteins remained active when expressed in Synechocystis, although they showed different electrophoretic mobility profiles after copper oxidation, reflecting a complex pattern of cysteines interaction.

Background over the last two decades,umbilical cord blood(UCB)and haploidentical transplantation(HaploHSCT)have emerged as alternative sources of hematopoietic stem cell for allogeneic *** are few retrospective studies and no prospective studies comparing both types of alternative transplantation in pediatric *** We analyzed the data of 134 children with hematological malignancies who received a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from a single umbilical cord blood(UCB)(n=42)or an"tex-vivo"T-cell depleted transplant from a haploi-dentical-related donor(HaploHSCT)(n=92)between 1996 and *** recovery was faster after HaploHSCT than the UCB transplant group(median times to neutrophil and platelet recovery:13 vs.16 days,10 vs.57 days,respectively)(PoHSCT group had a significantly early immune reconstitution based on NK and CD8+T cells compared with the UCB ***,after the first year *** had a lower number of CD4+ T and B lymphocytes compared with the UCB transplant *** cumulative incidence of TRM was 29±8%in the HaploHSCT group versus 40±5%in the UCB *** incidence was 21±7%in the HaploHSCT group and 19±8%in the UCB *** of DFS was 58±8%in the HaploHSCT group versus 40±9%in the UCB group(P=0.051).Conclusions TCD haploidentical transplant is associated with advantages in terms of engraftment and early immune reconstitution *** haploidentical transplant was associated with lower incidence of infectious and non-infectious complications,especially in the early phases of the transplant compared with UCB transplant ***,there are no advantages in transplant outcomes compared with UCB transplant.

Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for plant growth and *** preferentially absorb P as orthophosphate(Pi),an ion that displays low solubility and that is readily fixed in the soil,making P limita-tion a condition common to many soils and Pi fertilization an inefficient *** cope with Pi limitation,plants have evolved a series of developmental and physiological responses,collectively known as the Pi starvation rescue system(PSR),aimed to improve Pi acquisition and use efficiency(PUE)and protect from Pi-starvation-induced *** research has been carried out during the last 20 years to un-ravel the mechanisms underlying the control of the PSR in *** we review the results of this research effort that have led to the identification and characterization of several core Pi starvation signaling components,including sensors,transcription factors,microRNAs(miRNAs)and miRNA inhibitors,kinases,phosphatases,and components of the proteostasis *** also refer to recent results revealing the existence of intricate signaling interplays between Pi and other nutrients and antagonists,N,Fe,Zn,and As,that have changed the initial single-nutrient-centric view to a more integrated view of nutrient ***,we discuss advances toward improving PUE and future research priorities.

Paclitaxel （PTX）, one of the most effective cytotoxins for the treatment of breast and lung cancer, is limited by its severe side effects and low tumor selectivity. In this work hollow-poly（4-vinylpyridine）（hollow-p4VP） nanoparticles （NPs） have been used for the first time to generate PTX@p4VP NPs, employing a novel technique in which a gold core in the center of the NP is further oxidized to produce the hollow structure into which PTX molecules can be incorporated. The hollow-p4VP NPs exhibit good physicochemical properties and displayed excellent biocompatibility when tested on blood （no hemolysis） and cell cultures （no cytotoxicity）. Interestingly, PTX@p4VP NPs significantly increased PTX cytotoxicity in human lung （A-549） and breast （MCF-7） cancer cells with a significant reduction of PTX ICs0 （from 5.9 to 3.6 nM in A-549 and from 13.75 to 4.71 nM in MCF-7）. In addition, PTX@p4VP caused a decrease in volume of A-549 and MCF-7 multicellular tumor spheroids （MTS）, an in vitro system that mimics in vivo tumors, in comparison to free PTX. This increased antitumoral activity is accompanied by efficient cell internalization and increased apoptosis, especially in lung cancer MTS. our results offer the first evidence that hollow- p4VP NPs can improve the antitumoral activity of PTX. This system can be used as a new nanoplatform to overcome the limitations of current breast and lung cancer treatments.

This paper describes a vision-based system for blind spot detection (BSD) in intelligent vehicle applications. A camera is mounted in the lateral mirror of a car with the intention of visually detecting cars that are located in the so-called blind spot and cannot be perceived by the vehicle driver. The detection of cars in the blind spot is carried out using computer vision techniques, based on optical flow and a double-stage data clustering technique for robust vehicle detection.

电力变压器作为输配电系统中最为重要和昂贵的设备之一,其可靠性和稳定性一直是电力系统安全运行的关键所在。然而随着近年来高压直流输电（HVDC）技术被广泛应用于世界各地的电网体系中,高交直流电压对变压器内介电绝缘介质的性能提出了新的特殊要求,其相关研究已逐渐成为电力领域的重点内容。目前大多数变压器主要以液体介质作为绝缘材料,其可有效防止设备内部短路,并保护变压器免受化学侵蚀,同时也能够在变压器通电工作阶段充当冷却剂,从而避免设备过热损坏。本文的主要工作是通过数值模拟手段评估菜籽油在高压直流换流变压器中的换热效果,并与传统的矿物油冷却液进行对比,综合分析菜籽油绝缘介质的冷却性能。论文首先基于上海向家坝工程富龙换流站换流变压器的技术数据,通过FLUENT模拟软件构建了换流变压器的二维截面物理模型,并给出了相关设计参数。在此基础上,采用计算流体力学（CFD）工具,对换流变压器投入运行和oDAF冷却系统运行两种工况下的设备内部对流换热过程进行了数值模拟,并分析计算得到界点时流道内的温度场和速度场。同时对比菜籽油和矿物油绝缘介质在两种工况下的温度响应情况,进而得到体系整体的冷却性能表现。研究结果表明,菜籽油由于导热系数较低,需要较长的时间从变压器的核心和绕组获得热量以达到热平衡。然而,当通道温度达到稳定之后,菜籽油和矿物油的平衡温度没有显著差异。因此在相同的加热功率条件下,菜籽油可以有效地替代矿物油作为变压器的绝缘冷却液。此外,菜籽油相比矿物油粘度更高,导致其流速较慢,使得油液能够顺畅进入冷却通道,并更早地从设备内部热源吸收热量。冷却效果的改善表明菜籽油作为变压器冷却液和电绝缘液的效果明显优于矿物油。

Increased postoperative complications after protective ileostomy closure delay: An institutional study

AIM: To study the morbidity and complications as-sociated to ileostomy reversal in colorectal surgery pa-tients, and if these are related to the time of closure. METHoDS: A retrospective analysis of 93 patients, who had undergone elective ileostomy closure between 2009 and 2013 was performed. Demographic, clinical and surgical variables were reviewed for analysis. All complications were recorded, and classified according to the Clavien-Dindo Classification. Statistical univariate and multivariate analysis was performed, setting a P value of 0.05 for ***: The patients had a mean age of 60.3 years, 58% male. The main procedure for ileostomy cre-ation was rectal cancer(56%), and 37% had received preoperative chemo-radiotherapy. The average delay from creation to closure of the ileostomy was 10.3 mo. Postoperative complications occurred in 40% of the pa-tients, with 1% mortality. The most frequent were ileus(13%) and wound infection(13%). Pseudomembra-nous colitis appeared in 4%. Increased postoperative complications were associated with delay in ileostomyclosure(P = 0.041). Male patients had more complica-tions(P = 0.042), mainly wound infections(P = 0.007). Pseudomembranous colitis was also associated with the delay in ileostomy closure(P = 0.003). End-to-end in-testinal anastomosis without resection was significantly associated with postoperative ileus(P = 0.037). CoNCLUSIoN: Although closure of a protective il-eostomy is a fairly common surgical procedure, it has a high rate of complications, and this must be taken into account when the indication is made. The delay in stoma closure can increase the rate of complications in general, and specifically wound infections and colitis.
