ATXN2 one gene with multiple phenotype effects:ATXN2 gene encodes a cytosolic protein(ataxin-2)with pleiotropic functions(see below).This gene contains a number of exonic Cytosine-Adenine-Guanine(CAG)-repeats which encodes a polyglutamine tract(polyQ)in the N-terminal intrinsically disordered region(IDR)of the ***2CAG repeats are interrupted by CAA codons which is relevant only for DNA and RNA but not for protein since CAA also encodes glutamine(Q).

Estimating potential casualties from a significant earthquake and tsunami event is crucial to enhance disaster preparedness and response. Although various approaches exist to assess potential casualties, few studies have made direct comparisons between them. The present study aimed to clarify the diff erences in the estimation of casualties between an agent-based model(ABM), which can capture detailed evacuation behavior but demands significant computational resources, and a simplified approach at less computational cost by assuming that evacuees would move along a straight line from their initial location to the closest evacuation destination. These diff erent approaches were applied to three coastal cities in Japan—Mihama,Kushimoto, and Shingu in Wakayama Prefecture—revealing significant diff erences in the estimated results between the ABM and the simplified approach. Notably, when the eff ects of building collapse due to an earthquake were considered, the mortality rates estimated by the ABM were higher than those estimated by the simplified approach in the three cities. There were also significant diff erences in the spatial distribution of the estimated mortality rates between the ABM and the simplified approach. The findings suggest that while the simplified approach can yield results more quickly, casualty estimates derived from such models should be interpreted with caution.

4 Summary and conclusion The JOULE sounding rocket 1 experiment was carried out at Poker Flat Research Range in Alaska around 1200 UT on March 27th,2003 with two instrumented rockets and one chemical tracer *** the released TMA trails,neutral wind measurements from approximately 85 to 160 km altitude showed a vertically propagating wave and a jet structure around 120 km *** shears appeared at the bottom side of the jet with Richardson numbers close to or smaller than the critical value of 0.25,which implies the possible existence of Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities caused by the vertical shear in the fast flows.

Recycling solid waste in cement-based materials cannot only ease its load on the natural environment but also reduce the carbon emissions of building *** study aims to investigate the effect of recycled glass powder(RGP)on the early-age mechanical properties and autogenous shrinkage of cement pastes,where cement is replaced by 10%,20%and 30%of *** addition,the microstructure and nano-mechanical properties of cement paste with different RGP content and water to binder(W/B)ratio were also evaluated using SEM,MIP and nanoindentation *** results indicate that the early-age autogenous shrinkage decreases with the increase of RGP content and W/B *** the mechanical strength deteriorates due to the addition of RGP,it can be compensated by reducing the W/B *** the addition of RGP increases the total porosity of the hardened paste,it reduces the small size porosity(<50 nm).In addition,the proportions of different types of C-S-H are changed,and the volume fraction of porosity is increased,but that of hydration products of cement paste is reduced due to the incorporation of *** its pozzolanic activity,the mitigated shrinkage deformation that RGP is generating in cement pastes is encouraging for its use as a novel supplementary cementitious material that reduces the early-age cracking risk of cement-based ***,the life cycle assessments indicate that the RGP-cement component is an economical and eco-friendly novel engineering material.

Application of wave equation theory to improve dynamic cone penetration test for shallow soil characterisation

Among the geotechnical in situ tests,the dynamic penetration test(DPT)is commonly used around the ***,DPT remains a rough technique and provides only one failure parameter:blow count or cone *** paper presents an improvement of the dynamic cone penetration test(DCPT)for soil characterisation based on the wave equation *** on an instrumented lightweight dynamic penetrometer driving with variable energy,the main process of the test involves the separation and reconstruction of the waves propagating in the rods after each blow and provides a dynamic cone load-penetration(DCLT)*** analytical methodology is used to analyse this curve and to estimate additional strength and deformation parameters of the soil:dynamic and pseudo-static cone resistances,deformation modulus and wave *** carried out in the laboratory on different specimens(wood,concrete,sand and clay)in an experimental sand pit and in the field demonstrated that the resulting DCLT curve is reproducible,sensitive and reliable to the test conditions(rod length,driving energy,etc.)as well as to the soil properties(nature,density,etc.).Obtained results also showed that the method based on shock polar analysis makes it possible to evaluate mechanical impedance and wave velocity of soils,as demonstrated by the comparisons with cone penetration test(CPT)and shear wave velocity measurements made in the *** technique improves the method and interpretation of DPT and provides reliable data for shallow foundation design.

Ceramic supported cerium, manganese and cerium-manganese catalysts were prepared by direct impregnation of aq precursor, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller rn （BET）, temperature programmed reduction （Ha-TPR）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） acidity measurements and elec conductivity. The catalytic activity was evaluated for volatile organic compounds （VOC）（ethanol, methyl ethyl ketone and tol oxidation. Additionally, catalysts were tested in particulate matter （PM） combustion. The characterization results indicated that Ce was in the form of Ce4＋ and Ce3＋, and Mn existed in the form of Mn4＋ and Mn3＋ on the surface of the Mn/AC sample and in the of Mn4＋ in the Ce/Mn/AC monolith. VOC oxidation results revealed that the Ce/Mn/AC sample showed an excellent perforr compared with ceramic supported CeO2 （Ce/AC） and MnO, （Mn/AC） samples. The PM combustion was also higher on Ce/M monoliths. The enhanced catalytic activity was mainly attributed to the Ce and Mn interaction which enhanced the acidity, cond ity and the reducibility of the oxides.

Ion optics are crucial components of ion thrusters and the study of the different ion extraction solutions used since the beginning of the electric propulsion era is essential to understand the evolution of ion engines. This work describes ion engine grids＇ main functions, parameters and issues related to thermal expansion and sputter erosion, and then introduces a review of ion optics used for significant launched and tested ion thrusters since 1970. Configurations, geometries, materials and fabrication methods are analyzed to understand when typical ion thrusters use two or three grids, what are the thicknesses and aperture sizes of the screen, accelerator and decelerator grids, why molybdenum and carbon-based materials such as pyrolytic graphite and carbon–carbon are the best available options for ion optics and what is the manufacturing method for each material.

Classical electrodynamics foresees that the effective interaction force between a moving charge and a magnetic dipole is modified by the time-varying total momentum of the interaction fields. We derive the equations of motion of the particles from the total stress-energy tensor, assuming the validity of Maxwell’s equations and the total momentum conservation law. Applications to the effects of Aharonov–Bohm type show that the observed phase shift may be due to the relative lag between interfering particles caused by the effective local force.

The catalytic activity of Pd catalysts supported on Ce0.73Tb0.27Ox/SiO2, Ce0.6Zr0.4Ox/Si O2,Ce0.73Tb0.27Ox/La2O3–Al2O3and Ce0.6Zr0.4Ox/La2O3–Al2O3was studied using the reduction of NO by CO. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray fluorescence, surface area, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed reduction, CO chemisorption and oxygen storage capacity. Temperature-programmed reduction results indicated that Tb or Zr incorporation improves the reducibility and oxygen storage capacity. CO chemisorption data suggested the presence of large Pd O particles due to the low CO/Pd ratio. No significant differences were obtained in light off temperatures（T Light off） for all Pd catalysts and the most active was1.5%Pd/Ce0.6Zr0.4Ox/SiO2.
