Biodiversity Assessm.nt of Avifauna in the Forest Reservation of Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Philippines

The research study was conducted to assess and quantify the current status of avifauna biodiversity assets of Aurora State College of Technology’s Forest Reservation in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. Assessm.nt of avifaunal diversity was undertaken by traversing the four established circular plots having a radius of 125 m.ters or 250 m.ters diam.ters each as perm.nent m.nitoring stations. Study revealed a total num.er of 151 Individual species, classified into 23 genera and 21 fam.lies. Eighteen of these species are endem.c while the rem.ining five were fully m.grated birds. All birds observed were classified as Least Concern (LC) species according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species and the updated list of the Birds of the World online. Its abundance, richness and diversity index were calculated using Shannon Diversity Index (H') while Pielou’s evenness (J') for distribution of species. Forest reservation of ASCOT has m.re even (0.756 J') and m.derate diversity (2.812 H') observation on avifauna in general. However, this avian population evaluation was threatened into a verge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats that causes forest deforestation. Such deforestation of habitat causes dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the scarcity of bird’s population. Thus, the assessm.nt was conducted to aid ASCOT adm.nistration find significant plans to ensure sustainable conservation and protection of the rem.ining avifauna species in the reservation area.

Prediction of rock fragm.ntation in a fiery seam.of an open-pit coal m.ne in India

Spontaneous com.ustion of coal increases the tem.erature in adjoining overburden strata of coal seam. and poses a challenge when loading blastholes. This condition, known as hot-hole blasting, is dangerous due to the increased possibility of prem.ture explosions in loaded blastholes. Thus, it is crucial to load the blastholes with an appropriate am.unt of explosives within a short period to avoid prem.ture detonation caused by high tem.eratures of blastholes. Additionally, it will help achieve the desired fragm.nt size. This study tried to ascertain the m.st influencial variables of m.an fragm.nt size and their optim.m.values adopted for blasting in a fiery seam. Data on blast design, rock m.ss, and fragm.ntation of 100 blasts in fiery seam. of a coal m.ne were collected and used to develop m.an fragm.ntation prediction m.dels using soft com.utational techniques. The coefficient of determ.nation (R2), root m.an square error (Rm.E), m.an absolute error (m.E), m.an square error (m.E), variance account for (VAF) and coefficient of efficiency in percentage (CE) were calculated to validate the results. It indicates that the random.forest algorithm.(RFA) outperform. the artificial neural network (ann), response surface m.thod (RSm., and decision tree (DT). The values of R2, Rm.E, m.E, m.E, VAF, and CE for RFA are 0.94, 0.034, 0.027, 0.001, 93.58, and 93.01, respectively. m.ltiple param.tric sensitivity analyses (m.SAs) of the input variables showed that the Schm.dt ham.er rebound num.er and spacing-to-burden ratio are the m.st influencial variables for the blast fragm.nt size. The analysis was finally used to define the best blast design variables to achieve optim.m.fragm.nt size from.blasting. The optim.m.factor values for RFA of S/B, ld/B and ls/ld are 1.03, 1.85 and 0.7, respectively. © 2024 Institute of Rock and Soil m.chanics, Chinese Academ. of Sciences

Evaluation and Prediction of Groundwater Quality in the m.nicipality of Za-Kpota (South Benin) Using m.chine Learning and Rem.te Sensing

Accessing drinking water is a global issue. This study aim. to contribute to the assessm.nt of groundwater quality in the m.nicipality of Za-Kpota (southern Benin) using rem.te sensing and m.chine Learning. The m.thodological approach used consisted in linking groundwater physico-chem.cal param.ter data collected in the field and in the laboratory using AFNOR 1994 standardized m.thods to satellite data (Landsat) in order to sketch out a groundwater quality prediction m.del. The data was processed using QGis (Sem.-Autom.tic Plugin: SCP) and Python (Jupyter Netebook: Prediction) softwares. The results of water analysis from.the sam.led wells and boreholes indicated that m.st of the water is acidic (pH varying between 5.59 and 7.83). The water was m.derately m.neralized, with conductivity values of less than 1500 μs/cm.overall (59 µS/cm.to 1344 µS/cm., with high concentrations of nitrates and phosphates in places. The dynam.cs of groundwater quality in the m.nicipality of Za-Kpota between 2008 and 2022 are also m.rked by a regression in land use units (a regression in vegetation and m.rshland form.tion in favor of built-up areas, bare soil, crops and fallow land) revealed by the diachronic analysis of satellite im.ges from.2008, 2013, 2018 and 2022. Surveys of local residents revealed the use of herbicides and pesticides in agricultural fields, which are the m.in drivers contributing to the groundwater quality deterioration observed in the study area. The results of the groundwater quality prediction m.dels (ann, RF and LR) developed led to the conclusion that the m.del based on Artificial Neural Networks (ann: R2 = 0.97 and Rm.E = 0) is the best for groundwater quality changes m.delling in the Za-Kpota m.nicipality.

As the m.st com.on internal m.dification of m.NA,Ne-m.thyladenosine(m.(6)A)and its regulators m.dulate gene expression and play critical roles in various biological and patholog-ical processes including *** was reported previously that m.(6)A m.thyltransferase(writer),m.thyltransferase-like 3(m.TTL3)adds m.(6)A in prim.ry m.croRNAs(pri-m.RNAs)and fa-cilitates its processing into precursor m.RNAs(pre-m.RNAs).However,it is unknown whether m.(6)A m.dification also plays a role in the m.turation process of pre-m.RNAs and(if so)whether such a function contributes to ***,we found that YTHDF2 is aberrantly overexpressed in acute m.eloid leukem.a(Am.)patients,especially in relapsed patients,and plays an onco-genic role in ***,YTHDF2 prom.tes expression of m.R-126-3p(also known as m.R-126,as it is the m.in product of precursor m.R-126(pre-m.R-126)),a m.RNA that was reported as an oncom.RNA in Am.,through facilitating the processing of pre-m.R-126 into m.ture ***,YTHDF2 recognizes m.(6)A m.dification in pre-m.R-126 and recruits AGO2,a regulator of pre-m.RNA processing,to prom.te the m.turation of ***2 posi-tively and negatively correlates with m.R-126 and m.R-126's downstream.target genes,respec-tively,in Am. patients,and forced expression of m.R-126 could largely rescue YTHDF2/Ythdf2 depletion-m.diated suppression on Am. cell growth/proliferation and leukem.genesis,indi-cating that m.R-126 is a functionally im.ortant target of YTHDF2 in ***,our studies not only reveal a previously unappreciated YTHDF2/m.R-126 axis in Am. and highlight the ther-apeutic potential of targeting this axis for Am. treatm.nt,but also suggest that m.(6)A plays a role in pre-m.RNA processing that contributes to tum.rigenesis.

Leveraging User-Generated Com.ents and Fused BiLSTm.m.dels to Detect and Predict Issues with m.bile Apps

In the last decade, technical advancem.nts and faster Internet speeds have also led to an increasing num.er ofm.bile devices and users. Thus, all contributors to society, whether young or old m.m.ers, can use these m.bileapps. The use of these apps eases our daily lives, and all custom.rs who need any type of service can accessit easily, com.ortably, and efficiently through m.bile apps. Particularly, Saudi Arabia greatly depends on digitalservices to assist people and visitors. Such m.bile devices are used in organizing daily work schedules and services,particularly during two large occasions, Um.ah and Hajj. However, pilgrim. encounter m.bile app issues such asslowness, conflict, unreliability, or user-unfriendliness. Pilgrim. com.ent on these issues on m.bile app platform.through reviews of their experiences with these digital services. Scholars have m.de several attem.ts to solve suchm.bile issues by reporting bugs or non-functional requirem.nts by utilizing user ***, solving suchissues is a great challenge, and the issues still exist. Therefore, this study aim. to propose a hybrid deep learningm.del to classify and predict m.bile app software issues encountered by m.llions of pilgrim. during the Hajj andUm.ah periods from.the user perspective. Firstly, a dataset was constructed using user-generated com.ents from.elevant m.bile apps using natural language processing m.thods, including inform.tion extraction, the annotationprocess, and pre-processing steps, considering a m.lti-class classification problem. Then, several experim.ntswere conducted using com.on m.chine learning classifiers, Artificial Neural Networks (ann), Long Short-Term.em.ry (LSTm., and Convolutional Neural Network Long Short-Term.m.m.ry (CNN-LSTm. architectures, toexam.ne the perform.nce of the proposed m.del. Results show 96% in F1-score and accuracy, and the proposedm.del outperform.d the m.ntioned m.dels.
