The descriptive capabilities of the banded speed cosmological model are shown. In particular, an in-depth analysis related to the actual physical meaning of Planck＇s unit is given in the framework of the banded distribution of physical quantities. From this analysis the richness and flexibility of the model＇s description capabilities is derived, with particular attention devoted to the ability of using the same relationships for describing both microcosm and macrocosm and also young and old universe. Finally the cited descriptive capabilities are used for deriving a very simple and intuitive explanation of the ＂darkness＂ of dark matter.

We believe that well-known principles and relationships between physical entities are the key for a deep knowledge of reality. However, they must be applied using innovative points of view, points of view that can be provided by, for example, experts on information theory （as we are）. Our previous efforts in this direction led to a fascinating result： the theoretical total mass ofa spacetime in which Planck＇s length is an observer-independent scale of length is equal （both in expression and value） to the mass of our portion of Universe measured by national aeronautics and space administration wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe （NASA WMAP） spacecraft. In the following paragraphs we＇ll show how granularity （i.e., discontinuity） of physical entities of our portion of observable spacetime descends directly from the principles of information theory, and how a physical theory about the discontinuity of reality built on these basis can lead to an elegant descriptions of both microcosm and macrocosm.

deregulation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)- mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR) signaling pathway is one of the most commonlyinvolved pathways in tumorigenesis. It has also been reported as altered in neuroendocrine tumors(NETs). m TOR inhibitors used in clinical practice are derived from rapamycin,an anti-cancer agent also used as an immunosuppressor after organ transplantation. Everolimus and temsirolimus are the two rapamycin-derived m TOR inhibitors used in NETs. Notably everolimus has been approved in advanced progressive well/moderatelydifferentiated pancreatic NETs(p NETs). It inhibits specifically the m TORC1 subunit of m TOR,not interacting with m TORC2. Although everolimus produced a significant prolongation of progression-free survival a number of patients with p NETs do not benefit from the drug due to early or late progression. Two supposed mechanisms of resistance to m TOR inhibitors are Akt and PI3 K activation,by means of m TORC2 and insulin growth factor(IGF)- IGF receptor signaling,respectively. BEZ235 is a multi-targeted inhibitor binding to PI3 K,m TORC1 and m TORC2,therefore potentially turning off all the supposed molecular targets of resistance to everolimus. The two clinical trials designed in p NETs were stopped early due to unmet statistical endpoint and the global clinical development of BEZ235 was also halted. Tolerability of this drug was challenging and conditioned the feasibility of therapy. The BEZ experience is an example of the huge difference between the preclinical and clinical setting and prompts us to pay more attention to the phase Ⅰ step of clinical development and the design of phase Ⅱ clinical trials.

The problem of taking a set of data and separating it into subgroups where the elements of each subgroup are more similar to each other than they are to elements not in the subgroup has been extensively studied through the statistical method of cluster analysis. In this paper we want to discuss the application of this method to the field of education: particularly, we want to present the use of cluster analysis to separate students into groups that can be recognized and characterized by common traits in their answers to a questionnaire, without any prior knowledge of what form those groups would take (unsupervised classification). We start from a detailed study of the data processing needed by cluster analysis. Then two methods commonly used in cluster analysis are before described only from a theoretical point a view and after in the Section 4 through an example of application to data coming from an open-ended questionnaire administered to a sample of university students. In particular we describe and criticize the variables and parameters used to show the results of the cluster analysis methods.

AIM:To investigate feasibility,morbidity and surgical mortality of a docetaxel-based chemotherapy regimen randomly administered before or after gastrectomy in patients suffering from locally-advanced resectable gastric ***:Patients suffering from locally-advanced(T3-4 any N M0 or any T N1-3 M0)gastric carcinoma,staged with endoscopic ultrasound,bone scan,computed tomography,and laparoscopy,were assigned to receive four 21 d/cycles of TCF(docetaxel 75 mg/m 2 day 1,cisplatin 75 mg/m 2 day 1,and fluorouracil 300 mg/m 2 per day for days 1-14),either before(Arm A)or after(Arm B)*** morbidity,overall mortality,and severe adverse events were compared by intention-to-treat ***:From November 1999 to November 2005,70 patients were *** preoperative TCF(Arm A),thirty-two(94%)resections were performed,85% of which were *** response was complete in 4 patients(11.7%),and partial in 18(55%).No surgical mortality and 28.5%morbidity rate were observed,similar to those of immediate surgery arm(P= 0.86).Serious chemotherapy adverse events tended to be more frequent in arm B(23%vs 11%,P=0.07),with a single death per ***:Surgery following docetaxel-based chemotherapy was safe and with similar morbidity to immediate surgery in patients with locally-advanced resectable gastric carcinoma.

Mediation for medical malpractice actions: an efficient approach to the law and veterinary care

Veterinarians today face an increased risk for malpractice claims in view of increased client awareness of the benefits of the human-animal bond and advances in preventive and specialized veterinary *** important problem with medical malpractice litigation is the manner in which malpractice claims are resolved. In several countries, thousands of claims have been successfully resolved via Alternative Dispute Resolution processes such as mediation, conciliation and *** medical media-tion, health care providers, patients/animal owners, families, clergy and attorneys partici-pate directly in an informal, usually voluntary, dispute resolution process that can lead to for unique and promising approaches to resolving *** in Italy framework legislation addressing mediation has been introduced and it is also used to resolve medical malpractice *** that in Italy medical mediation is formally a new concept and is still evolving, an examination is made. The importance of “mediation” for veterinarians’ civil liability will be evaluated, underlining how it could become an important instrument in speeding up the resolution of court actions concerning medical mal-practice.

The goal of the present paper is to expand already published works in the frame of＂Banded speed cosmology＂（BSC）. In particular this paper gives validated values for physical quantities not so far investigated in previous publications, i.e., the number of individual physical entity in the universe, as well as the maximum value for acceleration. Validates values mean identical quantities from a numerical point of view obtained with different theoretical procedures, additionally compared with data based on NASA observations with Planck probe.
