BACKGROUND Sodium level is an important clinical predictor of complex biliary *** has been observed in conjunction with biliary disease,however the nature of this association remains *** To investigate the association between serum sodium and severe biliary *** Of 920 patients with gallstone disease treated at the SFVA Hospital from 1989-2019 were *** conducted multivariate analyses of correlation between sodium level and biliary disease severity,the presence/location of biliary bacteria,and other *** sodium level pre-intervention was ***,bile,and blood(as relevant)were *** severity was characterized:(1)None(no infectious manifestations);(2)Systemic inflammatory response syndrome;(3)Severe illness(gangrenous cholecystitis,cholangitis,necrotizing pancreatitis);and(4)Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(bacteremia,hypotension,organ failure).Comorbidity was defined using the Charlson Comorbidity Index(CCI).RESULTS Decreased sodium level significantly correlated with worsening illness severity,ascending bacterial infection,gangrenous changes,elevated CCI score,increasing age,male sex,and *** multivariate analysis,all factors,except age,gender and glucose,independently correlated with sodium level and factors were *** This unique study is the first to explore,with such granularity,the relationship between biliary disease and *** prior studies have examined specific culture and clinical *** illustrates an inverse,independent correlation between illness severity and *** data demonstrate that sodium decreases as infection ascends from gallstone colonization to bactibilia to *** comorbidity and gangrenous changes also independently correlate with sodium on multivariate *** level is an important clinical indicator of disease severity for patients with biliary disease.

GANscan:continuous scanning microscopy using deep learning deblurring

Most whole slide imaging(WSI)systems today rely on the"stop-and-stare"approach,where,at each field of view,the scanning stage is brought to a complete stop before the camera snaps a *** procedure ensures that each image is free of motion blur,which comes at the expense of long acquisition *** order to speed up the acquisition process,especially for large scanning areas,such as pathology slides,we developed an acquisition method in which the data is acquired continuously while the stage is moving at high *** generative adversarial networks(GANs),we demonstrate this ultra-fast imaging approach,referred to as GANscan,which restores sharp images from motion blurred *** allows us to complete image acquisitions at 30x the throughput of stop-and-stare *** method is implemented on a Zeiss Axio Observer Z1 microscope,requires no specialized hardware,and accomplishes successful reconstructions at stage speeds of up to 5000 μm/*** validate the proposed method by imaging H&E stained tissue *** method not only retrieves crisp images from fast,continuous scans,but also adjusts for defocusing that occurs during scanning within+/-5 μ*** a consumer GPU,the inference runs at<20 ms/image.

Upper cluster algebras and choice of ground ring

We initiate a study of the dependence of the choice of ground ring on the problem on whether a cluster algebra is equal to its upper cluster algebra. A condition for when there is equality of the cluster algebra and upper cluster algebra is given by using a variation of Muller's theory of cluster localization. An explicit example exhibiting dependence on the ground ring is provided. We also present a maximal green sequence for this example.

In this article, we review a construction in the complex geometry often known as the Penrose transform. We then present two new applications of this transform. One concerns the construction of symmetries of the massless field equations from mathematical physics. The otherconcerns obstructions to the embedding of CR structures on the three-sphere.

An Improved Evolvable Oscillator and Basis Function Set for Control of an Insect-Scale Flapping-Wing Micro Air Vehicle

This paper introduces an improved evolvable and adaptive hardware oscillator design capable of supporting adaptation intended to restore control precision in damaged or imperfectly manufactured insect-scale flapping-wing micro air vehicles. It will also present preliminary experimental results demonstrating that previously used basis function sets may have been too large and that significantly improved learning times may be achieved by judiciously culling the oscillator search space. The paper will conclude with a discussion of the application of this adaptive, evolvable oscillator to full vehicle control as well as the consideration of longer term goals and requirements.

Energy-efficient task offloading strategy in mobile edge computing for resource-intensive mobile applications

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) has been considered a promising solution that can address capacity and performance challenges in legacy systems such as Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC). In particular, such challenges include intolerable delay, congestion in the core network, insufficient Quality of Experience (QoE), high cost of resource utility, such as energy and bandwidth. The aforementioned challenges originate from limited resources in mobile devices, the multi-hop connection between end-users and the cloud, high pressure from computation-intensive and delay-critical applications. Considering the limited resource setting at the MEC, improving the efficiency of task offloading in terms of both energy and delay in MEC applications is an important and urgent problem to be solved. In this paper, the key objective is to propose a task offloading scheme that minimizes the overall energy consumption along with satisfying capacity and delay requirements. Thus, we propose a MEC-assisted energy-efficient task offloading scheme that leverages the cooperative MEC framework. To achieve energy efficiency, we propose a novel hybrid approach established based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) to solve the optimization problem. The proposed approach considers efficient resource allocation such as sub-carriers, power, and bandwidth for offloading to guarantee minimum energy consumption. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy is computational-efficient compared to benchmark methods. Moreover, it improves energy utilization, energy gain, response delay, and offloading utility.

A Volt-Second Source for Calibration of Integrator in a Pulsed Field Magnetometer

A volt-second （Vs） source intended for absolutely calibrating the integrator in a pulsed field magnetometer （PFM） is designed and proven to be with accurate rising and falling edges and reasonable lower uncertainty. A comparison experiment shows that the difference between the magnetic fluxes generated respectively by the Vs source and the mutual inductor is within ±0.04%. The PFM is then calibrated in an absolute way of the Vs source. The calibrated PFM gives the measured results in good agreement with a static BH tracer supplied by National Institute of Metrology of China and provides a convenient way of studying the effect of mathematic process on the dynamic measuring curve of PFMs.
