The sessile lifestyle of plants requires an immediate response to environmental stressors that affect photosynthesis,growth,and crop ***,we showed that three abiotic perturbations—heat,cold,and high light—triggered considerable changes in the expression signatures of 42 epitranscriptomic factors(writers,erasers,and readers)with putative chloroplast-associated functions that formed clusters of commonly expressed genes in *** expression changes under all conditions were reversible upon deacclimation,identifying epitranscriptomic players as modulators in acclimation *** dysfunctions,particularly those induced by the oxidative stress-inducing norflurazon in a largely GENOME UNCOUPLED-independent manner,triggered retrograde signals to remodel chloroplastassociated epitranscriptomic expression patterns.N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)is known as the most prevalent RNA modification and impacts numerous developmental and physiological functions in living *** cold treatment,expression of components of the primary nuclear m^(6)A methyltransferase complex was upregulated,accompanied by a significant increase in cellular m^(6)A mRNA *** the cold,the presence of FIP37,a core component of the writer complex,played an important role in positive regulation of thylakoid structure,photosynthetic functions,and accumulation of photosystemⅠ,the Cytb6f complex,cyclic electron transport proteins,and Curvature Thylakoid1 but not that of photosystemⅡcomponents and the chloroplast ATP *** of FIP37 affected abundance,polysomal loading,and translation of cytosolic transcripts related to photosynthesis in the cold,suggesting m^(6)Adependent translational regulation of chloroplast *** summary,we identified multifaceted roles of the cellular m^(6)A RNA methylome in coping with cold;these were predominantly associated with chloroplasts and served to stabilize photosynthesis.

Relevance of a standard food model in combination with electronic jaw movement recording on human mastication pattern analysis

The aim of this paper is to describe the possibilities of analyzing human mastication. The development of a standardized food model is presented. Based on the findings of a systematic literature search an elastic food model was created with the aim of standardizing size and elastic properties. Three different eatable jellied products were chosen, created by a changing of the amount of gelatin (260 Blooms) related to the total mass of the standard jellied food. The different hardness were classified in soft, medium and hard, flavored identically, but stained with different colors: soft-green, medium-yellow, hard-red. A cylindrical form was chosen with a height of 1 cm and a diameter of 2 cm. A standard protocol for analyzing chewing patterns in men was created. The condylographic data off several patients are described in details to demonstrate the possible clinical implementation. The newly developed standard food model (SFM) showed the capability to serve in experimental settings to analyze human mastication, although only a few patients have been examined. In addition, strength and size of the newly developed SFM load the masticatory system in an extent;it should be possible to disclose subclinical symptoms of patients within a short time of examination. The diagnostic procedure of temporo-mandibular disorder (TMD) should be endorsed by this new method. The condylographic data created by a standardized protocol should have the ability to enhance the clinical functional analysis of patients previous to restorative dental procedures.

Applicability of Static Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction in Biogeochemical Characterization of Oil Shales

This study aimed at the assessment of applicability of static supercritical carbon dioxide extraction method (SFE) in biogeochemical characterization of oil shales as an alternative to the standard Soxhlet extration. A comparative investigation on yields and compositions of the solvent soluble bitumoids and their constituents extracted from Estonian Kukersite and Dictyonema oil shales by using Soxhlet extraction method (SEM) and static CO2 supercritical fluid extraction in an autoclave at varied subpyrolysis temperatures was carried out. Resulting from TLC- and GC-MS-analyses, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and neutral oxygen compounds were separated and identified. For the first time, in the composition of the Kukersite bitumoid, homologous series of n-alkanones-3 to n-alkanones-7 were detected. The extracts obtained were similar in both group and individual composition, and geochemical parametres calculated on the basis of aliphatic hydrocarbons including that made static SFE applicable to geochemical investigation of oil shales.

Microbial Properties of Probiotic Fermented Milk Supplemented with Ginseng Extracts

The therapeutic properties of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and ginseng extracts have been well documented. The objective of this study was to measure growth and survival of L. rhamnosus GR-1 in milk fortified with ginseng extracts during storage period of 28 days. Five formulations of milk (1% fat) were prepared. Two samples were fortified with alcoholic ginseng extract (AGE: 150 μg/mL, AGE: 500 μg/mL) and the other two samples were fortified with aqueous ginseng extract (QGE: 150 μg/mL, QGE: 500 μg/ml) and one with no ginseng extract (C). The mixtures were autoclaved for 15 min, cooled to 37?C and inoculated with 1% starter culture. The samples were then incubated anaerobically at 37℃ overnight. Selective MRS agar containing 0.015 g/L fusidic acid was used to enumerate L. rhamnosus GR-1 after 1, 14, and 28 d storage at 4℃. All ginseng-fortified samples supported the growth and survival of L. rhamnosus GR-1, as viable counts were detected at each measurement point throughout the 28 d storage period. After 1 d of storage, total colony counts for L. rhamnosus GR-1 in AGE: 150 μg/mL and AGE: 500 μg/mL were 1.3 × 109 and 1.4 × 109 CFU/mL, respectively;probiotic counts in QGE 150 μg/mL and QGE: 500 μg/mL were 1.5 × 109 and 1.4 × 109 CFU/mL, respectively. Additionally, L. rhamnosus GR-1 viability remained stable throughout the 28 days storage period, as no significant decrease (p L. rhamnosus GR-1 can remain viable in presence of ginseng extracts during storage period and there is potential for incorporating ginseng extracts in other probiotic dairy products.

Ultrafast supercontinuum generation in gas-filled waveguides is an enabling technology for many intriguing applications ranging from attosecond metrology towards biophotonics,with the amount of spectral broadening crucially depending on the pulse dispersion of the propagating *** this study,we show that structural resonances in a gas-filled antiresonant hollow core optical fiber provide an additional degree of freedom in dispersion engineering,which enables the generation of more than three octaves of broadband light that ranges from deep UV wavelengths to near *** observation relies on the introduction of a geometric-induced resonance in the spectral vicinity of the ultrafast pump laser,outperforming gas dispersion and yielding a unique dispersion profile independent of core size,which is highly relevant for scaling input *** a krypton-filled fiber,we observe spectral broadening from 200 nm to 1.7μm at an output energy of B 23μJ within a single optical mode across the entire spectral *** show that the frequency generation results from an accelerated fission process of solitonlike waveforms in a non-adiabatic dispersion regime associated with the emission of multiple phase-matched Cherenkov radiations on both sides of the *** effect,along with the dispersion tuning and scaling capabilities of the fiber geometry,enables coherent ultra-broadband and high-energy sources,which range from the UV to the mid‐infrared spectral range.

Is LiFePO<sub>4</sub>Technology Ready for Internet of Things?

While self-sufficient sensors and actors are about to pave the way for a new computing class, associate Internet of Things applications will highly depend on efficient and reliable storage of electrical energy. Likewise the same is true for electrical based transport systems requiring light weights and high capacities. Recently, novel LiFePO4 based storage cell types with standardized form-factors have become available. These cells tend to be promising in terms of high energy densities, low self-discharge rates and long cycle lives. Anyhow, the aging behavior, maturity, statistical spread and reliability of these new cells have not been analyzed and modeled thoroughly. Therefore, we analyze and compare in this paper the self-discharge behavior, lifetime and reliability of different lithium-based battery cells using a dedicated test bench. We use temperature, voltage, current, and power cycling as acceleration and stress parameters.

Mega sport events have been in the focus of scientific work since years. Most of the authors deal with effects, impacts or thelegacy of them, concentrating on economic aspects in that field. This study uses a stakeholder approach and tries to examine peculiarlythe whole range of the Olympic Games of Rio 2016 by using a qualitative research method. Stakeholders from Latin America wereasked about their expectations and perceived experiences regarding the first games in South America. Even if from differentperspectives, respondents expected and perceived both positive and negative effects through RIO 2016. Their wishes were related totheir individual development, further development of sports, intercultural exchange, and social learning. A similarly varied picture maybe observed regarding the experiences perceived. In order to determine a comprehensive picture of RIO 2016 and its legacy, it isimportant to do a short-term as well as a long-term investigation.

儿童原发性限制型心肌病三例的临床特征及遗传分析

目的研究3例儿童原发性限制型心肌病（ restrictive cardiomyopathy, RCM）的临床特征及心肌病理改变，并进行心肌肌节蛋白基因突变分析，以期发现遗传致病基础。方法采集和分析3例RCM患儿及其父母的临床资料。同时选择100名健康儿童作为正常对照。病例1和病例2接受心肌活检，标本行常规组织学和电镜检查。聚合酶链式反应（PCR）扩增RCM患儿肌钙蛋白I、肌钙蛋白T、β肌球蛋白重链、肌动蛋白基因编码外显子及附近上下游序列，直接双向测序并进行分析。如发现突变，则进一步检测该突变在患儿父母及正常对照儿童中的分布情况。结果3例患儿病情呈进行性加重。病例1合并小型膜周部室间隔缺损，病例2合并室间隔中下段轻度肥厚。组织学检查提示病例1存在广泛的心肌细胞排列紊乱和轻度纤维化，电镜显示肌节数量减少，线粒体显著增大变形；病例2心肌细胞轻度肥厚和间质纤维化，电镜检查显示z线排列紊乱，间距不规则。遗传分析分别在病例1和病例3中发现了肌钙蛋白I基因R204H、R192H杂合突变，在病例2中发现了肌钙蛋白T基因100—101delNE杂合突变，所有突变所在蛋白序列均高度保守。所有突变只出现在患儿，而父母及100名正常对照儿童中均未检测到相同突变。结论3例RCM患儿确诊后病情均进展迅速。3例患儿进行遗传分析均发现了致病突变，其中2个为肌钙蛋白I基因突变，1个为肌钙蛋白T基因突变。研究结果有助于加深对儿童原发性RCM发病机制的认识。
