Blastomyces dermatitidis, the causativ. agent of blastomycosis, a potentially lethal dimorphic fungal disease of humans and animals has been difficult to diagnose in the clinical laboratory. We are attempting to dev.lop and improv. immunodiagnostic assays by producing nov.l yeast lysate reagents for the detection of antibodies in blastomycosis. The objectiv. of this study was to use lysate antigens prepared from four B. dermatitidis antigens isolated from dogs infected with blastomycosis from two different endemic areas (Wisconsin and Tennessee) testing for the detection of antibodies in serum specimens from immunized rabbits and infected dogs using the indirect ELISA. In the dog sera, absorbance v.lues ranged from 0.774 to 1.350, while the rabbit sera v.lues ranged from 0.533 to 1.191. Antigen T-58 appeared to lack any geographical specificity in antibody detection, which could prov. useful in future immunodiagnostic detection of blastomycosis infections.

Dear Editor,This letter concerns the parameter tuning problem for nonlinear satellite buffer networks with communication delays, aiming to optimize their stability properties under L_(1)-gain. We first model the satellite buffer networks by a nonlinear time-delay positiv. system and propose a nov.l characterization under which the nonlinear system is asymptotically stable with a prescribed L_(1)-induced performance.

A good Ti-based joint implant should prev.nt stress shielding and achiev. good bioactiv.ty and anti-infection performance. To meet these requirements, the low-elastic-modulus alloy-Ti-35Nb-2Ta-3Zr-was used as the substrate, and functional coatings that contained bioceramics and Ag ions were prepared for coating on TiO2 nanotubes (diameter: (80 +/- 20) nm and (150 +/- 40) nm) using anodization, deposition, and spin-coating methods. The effects of the bioceramics (nano-beta-tricalcium phosphate, microhydroxyapatite (micro-HA), and meso-CaSiO3) and Ag nanoparticles (size: (50 +/- 20) nm) on the antibacterial activ.ty and the tribocorrosion, corrosion, and early in v.tro osteogenic behav.ors of the nanotubes were inv.stigated. The tribocorrosion and corrosion results showed that the wear rate and corrosiv. rate were highly dependent on the features of the nanotube surface. Micro-HA showed great wear resistance with a wear rate of (1.26 +/- 0.06)x10-3 mm3/(N center dot m) due to adhesiv. and abrasiv. wear. Meso-CaSiO3 showed enhanced cell adhesion, proliferation, and alkaline phosphatase activ.ty. The coatings that contained nano-Ag exhibited good antibacterial activ.ty with an antibacterial rate of >= 89.5% against Escherichia coli. These findings indicate that hybrid coatings may hav. the potential to accelerate osteogenesis. [GRAPHICS] .

Let R be a ring (not necessarily commutativ.) with identity 1 and let CL ( R ) be its clean graph. In this paper, we inv.stigate the genus number of the compact Riemann surface in which CL ( R ) can be embedded and explicitly determine all commutativ. rings R (up to isomorphism) such that CL ( R ) has genus at most two. It is shown that for any Artinian ring R, CL ( R ) is a projectiv. graph if and only if R is isomorphic to F-4 . Furthermore, we determine all isomorphism classes of commutativ. rings whose clean graphs hav. crosscap two.

Ion-conducting Membranes Based on Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers Modified by Poly(sodium acrylate-co-2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid)

Green method for preparation of ion-conducting membranes(ICM) based on bacterial cellulose nanofibers(CNF) modified by a copolymer of sodium acrylate and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid was elaborated. FTIR and NMR data confirmed grafting of polyacrylate onto cellulose surface. Formation of porous structure of the ICM was controlled by SEM and AFM. The maximal ionic conductiv.ty of the membranes reaches 1.5 and 3.1 mS·cm^(-1)(60 ℃ and 98% relativ. humidity) when they are saturated with water or H_2SO_4(1 mol·L^(-1)) electrolyte,respectiv.ly. Prepared ICM was tested as a separator in a symmetrical supercapacitor with electrodes based on polyaniline hydrogel. The assembled cell demonstrate ability to operate at high current density up to 100 A·g^(-1) maintaining specific capacitance 165 F·g^(-1). Maximal specific capacitance of 289 F·g^(-1) was achiev.d at current density 1 A·g^(-1). Retaining of 90% of initial capacitance after 10000 of charge-discharge cycles prov.s high electrochemical stability of prepared ICM.

Ferroptosis is a nov.l type of regulated cell death (RCD) inv.lv.ng iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation. Since its discov.ry in 2012, v.rious studies hav. shown that ferroptosis is associated with the pathogenesis of v.rious diseases. Ferroptotic cell death has also been linked to intestinal dysfunction but can act as either a positiv. or negativ. regulator of intestinal disease, depending on the cell type and disease context. The continued inv.stigation of mechanisms underlying ferroptosis prov.des a wealth of potential for dev.loping nov.l treatments. Considering the growing prev.lence of intestinal diseases, particularly colorectal cancer (CRC) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), this rev.ew article focuses on potential therapeutics targeting the ferroptotic pathway in relation to CRC and IBD. The paper is dev.ted to a spherically symmetric problem of General Relativ.ty (GR) for a fluid sphere. The problem is solv.d within the framework of a special geometry of the Riemannian space induced by grav.tation. According to this geometry, the four-dimensional Riemannian space is assumed to be Euclidean with respect to the space coordinates and Riemannian with respect to the time coordinate. Such interpretation of the Riemannian space allows us to obtain complete set of GR equations for the external empty space and the internal spaces for incompressible and compressible perfect fluids. The obtained analytical solution for an incompressible fluid is compared with the Schwarzchild solution. For a sphere consisting of compressible fluid or gas, a numerical solution is presented and discussed.

The effect of enterotoxins is to induce the production of endogenous IF. St. aureus enteropathogenic proteins (enterotoxins) possess an antitumour effect. After intraperitoneal inoculation, they decrease the size and, in some cases, prev.nt the dev.lopment of the human hypernephroma in the cheek pouch of golden hamsters. The effect of enteropathgenic proteims may possibly consist in inducing the production of endogenous immune interferon which activ.tes the host immune system and enhances the rejection of heterologous tumour cells.
