Synergistic effects of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs)with different transition metals on intumescent flame-retarded polypropylene composites:A comparative study

the use of intumescent flame retardants(IFRs)is considered an environmentally friendly and cost-effective strategy to suppress potential fire hazards from synthetic ***,some conventional IFRs are neither efficient in developing a thermally stable char layer nor reducing the release of toxic byproducts during polymer *** this work,we aim to discuss the effects of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs)on synergistically improving the flame retardancy behaviors in polypropylene(PP)composites,including thermal degradation(evolved gas analysis),free radical reactions in the gaseous phase(in-situ chemiluminescent image analysis),and carbonaceous structure in the condensed phase(micro-morphology and composition analysis).It is found that the transition metals in ZIFs can catalytically accelerate the crosslinking reaction at a lower initial temperature and decrease the amount of hydrocarbon volatiles in the gaseous *** ignited,the embedded ZIFs can firstly bridge adjacent phosphorus chains in the polymer matrix to expand crosslinking degrees and then they are anchored in the developed N-doped phospho-carbonaceous networks after *** a result,more compact char residue structures are observed in the condensed phase for ZIF-reinforced *** example,by replacing 2 wt%of IFR with ZIF-67,the peak heat release rate,peak smoke production rate,and peak CO production rate are reduced by 69%,80%,and 72%,respectively,when compared to the conventional *** results indicate an excellent solution to resolve inherent fire hazards associated with IFRs in polymers and achieve necessary efficiency for industrial *** also provides a new strategy for determining flammability characteristics and combustion mechanisms of polymer composites using in-situ chemiluminescence analysis.

Urban areas face multiple risks: they range from natural hazard-induced disasters, fires, and building code violations to social risks such as vandalism, crime, and social disorientation, among others. these risks often interact with each other and cannot be dealt with in isolation. As a means to identify, assess, and manage multiple risks, the concept of ‘‘risk governance'' has been developed, which promises to provide integrative and comprehensive tools to deal with the many manifestations of *** this article, risk governance concept has been specifically applied to complex risk situations in urban areas. the concept of risk governance pertains to the many ways in which multiple actors, individuals and institutions, public and private, deal with risks. It includes formal institutions and regimes and informal arrangements. the article first develops an adaptive and integrative model of risk governance and applies this model to the urban *** a short summary of the roots of risk governance, key concepts, such as simple, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous risks, are discussed. the main emphasis is on each of the five phases of risk governance: pre-estimation,interdisciplinary assessment, risk evaluation, risk management, and risk communication.

BACKGROUND Four-corner fusion(4CF)is a motion sparing salvage procedure that is used to treat osteoarthritis secondary to advanced scapholunate collapse or longstanding scaphoid nonunion advanced *** is known about the long-term survivorship and outcomes of *** to report on clinical and functional long-term outcomes as well as conversion rates to total wrist fusion or *** the systematic review protocol was registered in the international prospective register of systematic reviews(PROSPERO)and followed the PRISMA *** articles were screened using four different *** with a minimum Level IV of evidence that reported on long-term outcome after 4CF with a minimum follow-up of 5 years were *** assessment was performed using the Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies *** A total of 11 studies including 436 wrists with a mean follow-up of 11±4 years(range:6-18 years)was *** assessment according to Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies criteria tool averaged 69%±11%(range:50%-87%).Fusion rate could be extracted from 9/11 studies and averaged 91%.Patient-reported outcomes were extracted at last follow-up from 8 studies with an average visual analog scale of 1±1(range:0-2)and across 9 studies with an average Disabilities of the Arm,Shoulder and Hand score of 21±8(range:8-37).At last follow-up,the cumulative conversion rate to total wrist fusion averaged 6%.there were no conversions to total wrist *** the 4CF of the wrist is a reliable surgical technique,capable of achieving a good long-term patient satisfaction and survivorship with low rates of conversion to total wrist fusion.

Background:Since 2001,the French Armed Forces have sustained many casualties during the Global War on terror;however,even today,there is no French Military trauma *** French service members(SMs)were treated in US Military Medical treatment Facilities(MtFs)and were recorded in the US Department of Defense trauma Registry(Do DtR).Our objective was to conduct a descriptive analysis of the injuries sustained by French SMs reported in the Do DtR and subsequent care provided to them to assist in understanding the importance of building a French Military trauma ***:Using Do DtR data collected from 2001 to 2017,a retrospective descriptive analysis was *** identified 59 French SMs treated in US *** characteristics of the SMs’demographics,injuries,care provided to them,and discharge outcomes were ***:Among the 59 French SMs identified,46(78%)sustained battle injuries(BIs)and 13(22%)sustained nonbattle injuries(NBIs).there were 47(80%)SMs injured in Afghanistan(Opération Pamir),while 12(20%)were injured in Opération Chammal in Iraq and *** accounted for 52.5%of injuries,while 25.4%were due to gunshot wounds;all were *** majority of reported injuries were penetrating(59.3%),most of which were BIs(71.7%).the mean Injury Severity Score for BIs was 12(SD=8.9)compared to 6(SD=1.7)for *** half of SMs(n=30;51%)were injured in Afghanistan between the years 2008–*** a total of 246 injuries sustained by 59 patients,extremities were the body part most prone to BIs followed by the head and *** SMs died after admission(6.8%).Conclusions:the Do DtR provides extensive data on trauma injuries that can be used to inform injury prevention and clinical *** majority of injuries sustained by French SMs were BIs,caused by explosives,and predominantly occurring to the extremities;these findings are similar to those of other studies conducted in combat *** is a need to establish a French Military tr
