The testing of battery cells is a long and expensive process, and hence understanding how large a test set needsto be is very useful. This work proposes an automated methodology to estimate the smallest sample size ofcells required to capture the cell-to-cell variability seen in a larger population. We define cell-to-cell variationbased on the slopes of a linear regression model applied to capacity fade curves. Our methodology determinesa sample size which estimates this variability within user specified requirements on precision and *** sample size is found using the distributional properties of the slopes under a normality assumption, andan implementation of the approach is available on *** the five datasets in the study, we find that a sample size of 8–10 cells (at a prespecified precision andconfidence) captures the cell-to-cell variability of the larger datasets. We show that prior testing knowledge canbe leveraged with machine learning models to operationally optimise the design of new cell-testing, leadingup to a 75% reduction in experimental costs.

Longwall mining continues to remain the most efficient method for underground coal recovery. A key aspect in achieving safe and productive longwall mining is to ensure that the shearer is always correctly positioned within the coal seam. At present, this machine positioning task is the role of longwall personnel who must simultaneously monitor the longwall coal face and the shearer's cutting drum position to infer the geological trends of the coal seam. This is a labour intensive task which has negative impacts on the consistency and quality of coal production. As a solution to this problem, this paper presents a sensing method to automatically track geological coal seam features on the longwall face, known as marker bands, using thermal infrared imaging. These non-visible marker bands are geological features that link strongly to the horizontal trends present in layered coal seams. Tracking these line-like features allows the generation of a vertical datum that can be used to maintain the shearer in a position for optimal coal extraction. Details on the theory of thermal infrared imaging are given, as well as practical aspects associated with machine-based implementation underground. The feature detection and tracking tasks are given with real measurements to demonstrate the efficacy of the approach. The outcome is important as it represents a new selective mining capability to help address a long-standing limitation in longwall mining operations.

AIMTo determine how statins, testosterone (T) replacement therapy (TRT) and phosphodiesterase 5-inhibitors (PDE5I) influence age related mortality in diabetic *** studied 857 diabetic men screened for the BLAST study, stratifying them (mean follow-up = 3.8 years) into: (1) Normal T levels/untreated (total T > 12 nmol/L and free T > 0.25 nmol/L), Low T/untreated and Low T/treated; (2) PDE5I/untreated and PDE5I/treated; and (3) statin/untreated and statin/treated groups. The relationship between age and mortality, alone and with T/TRT, statin and PDE5I treatment was studied using logistic regression. Mortality probability and 95%CI were calculated from the above models for each *** was associated with mortality (logistic regression, OR = 1.10, 95%CI: 1.08-1.13, P 2 = 0.881 when Ln (mortality) was plotted against age. The probability of mortality and 95%CI (from logistic regression) of individuals, treated/untreated with the drugs, alone and in combination was plotted against age. Overlap of 95%CI lines was evident with statins and TRT. No overlap was evident with PDE5I alone and with statins and TRT, this suggesting a change in the relationship between age and *** show that statins, PDE5I and TRT reduce mortality in diabetes. PDE5I, alone and with the other treatments significantly alter age related mortality in diabetic men.

目的　探讨地塞米松 (dexamethasone,DXM )能否通过诱导肺内炎性细胞凋亡而减轻博莱霉素所致大鼠肺间质性纤维化。方法　 75只SD大鼠随机分为对照组 (C组 )、博莱霉素组 (BLM组 )和地塞米松组 (DXM组 )。于实验的第 1、3、7、14和 2 8天处死动物 ,获取肺泡灌洗液 (BALF) ,行细胞计数、分类、流式细胞仪测定DNA亚二倍体含量 ;观察肺泡炎和肺纤维化程度及凋亡细胞形态 ;DNA片段原位缺口末端标记 (TUNEL)法进行肺组织凋亡细胞半定量。结果　 ( 1)BALF细胞计数 :不同时间DXM组均低于BLM组 ,P均 <0 .0 5 ;( 2 )BALF细胞分类 :DXM组中性粒细胞比例除第 1天组外 ,其余各相应时间组均比BLM组明显降低 ,P <0 .0 1;( 3)BALF细胞中凋亡细胞所占比例 :DXM第 14、2 8天组均明显高于相应时间的BLM组 ,P <0 .0 5 ;( 4 )DXM组肺泡炎高峰较BLM组后移 ;纤维化程度也明显低于BLM组 ;( 5 )形态学观察 :DXM各时间组与BLM组比较 :凋亡细胞明显增多 ;BLM 2 8d组肺泡间质胶原明显多于DXM组 ,纤维母细胞增多 ;( 6 )肺组织炎性细胞凋亡指数 :DXM组除第 14天组外 ,其余各时间组凋亡指数均明显大于BLM组 ,P <0 .0 5～ 0 .0 1;( 7)凋亡抑制基因Bcl 2的表达在DXM组明显低于BLM组。结论　DXM通过诱导肺内炎症细胞凋亡增加 ,减轻BLM所致?

“安全”在国际关系学中的定义一直具有较大的争议。在冷战后时代,国内外学者对安全提出了各种新的解释,并且不少学者将安全的主体从国家拓展到个体、社会、全球等行为体。非传统安全学是从这个扩展的过程中发展出来的。有趣的是,非传统安全在挑战以国家为中心的传统安全观的同时,也在促使着人们越来越关注非传统安全对国家安全的影响。比如,为了理解传统安全与非传统安全之间的相互交织,近期有国内学者提出“交织型安全”、“多源性非传统安全威胁”等交织安全概念。然而,目前对于交织安全的含义与具体指标,学者们还在进行激烈探讨,与此同时,我们对交织安全与国家安全间关系的认识也十分有限。笔者认为,交织安全威胁的安全化过程是不容忽视的,因为从本质上看,国家面临的主要安全威胁大多数都是交织性的,只不过不同交织安全问题受到关注程度不一样。一旦当某非传统安全公共问题涉及到传统安全因素,其所经过的安全化过程便与传统安全威胁十分相似,因为国家会按照其传统安全利益受威胁程度对待所有安全问题。本文提出国家应按照其独特国情与利益去选择性地将交织安全威胁上升到国家安全议程这一观念。本文提出,由于国情与国家利益是由历史、文化、政治等因素建构的,交织安全威胁的安全化理论就是把现实主义所提倡的以国家为中心的传统安全观与非传统安全所提倡的建构性安全观融合起来的过程。该过程类似于一种理性归入,即某交织安全威胁是否被安全化取决于其规模而非类型。最后,本文论断,就国家而言,兼具传统安全与非传统安全因素的交织安全威胁日益增大,国家是否能够不断将其国家安全议程扩大,拓展安全的价值中心,取决于我们能否先加强对交织安全威胁不同程度安全化的认识。
