The compressional behaviour of a natural kyanite,(Al1.99Fe0.01)SiO5,has been investigated to about 17.5 GPa at 300 K using a diamond-anvil cell and synchrotron X-ray *** pressure-volume data fitted to the third-order Birch-Murnaghan equation of state(EoS) yield an isothermal bulk modulus(K0T) of 192 ± 6 GPa and pressure derivative(K00T) of 6 ± *** K00T is fixed as 4,the derived K0T is 201 ± 2 *** values are in excellent agreement with most experimental determinations in the ***,it can be concluded that the compressibility of kyanite under high pressures has been accurately constrained.

Cyclooxygenases are encoded by COX-1 and COX-2. They share over sixty percent sequence identity in human and are similar to each other in their crystallographic structures. One major difference in the primary structure of these two isozymes is the presence of eight amino acids in the amino-terminal region of COX-1 that are not present in COX-2. The function of this amino acid sequence is unknown. In this study, a human COX-1 mutant （Δ7aa） with this sequence removed was studied in parallel with COX-1. Signal peptide cleavage, N-linked glycosylation, protein expression, distribution and dimerization were not affected by the mutation. The mutant was enzymati-cally active and showed the same sensitivity toward aspirin. The KM for the enzyme remained the same as COX-1. However, the Vmax of the COX-1 mutant decreased by 3.3-fold. We conclude that the COX-1 specific amino-terminal sequence has a subtle but detectable effect on COX-1 catalysis.

Background: Increasing evidence is demonstrating thatinfants born early on during the term period are at increasedrisk of morbidity compared with infants born closer to acomplete 40 week gestational pregnancy. The purpose of thisstudy was to compare early term [gestation age (GA): 37-376/7 weeks] neonatal outcomes with those of other full termneonatal intensive care unit (NICU) ***: Retrospective chart review of all term infantsadmitted to the NICU at New York University LangoneMedical Center over a 17 month period. Subjects weregrouped and analyzed according to their GA at birth: 1)early term infants (GA between 37 0/7 to 37 6/7 weeks) and2) other term infants (38 0/7 weeks and older).Results: Early term infants were more likely to requireNICU care than other term infants [relative risk: 1.42,95% confidence interval (CI)=1.07-1.88), P=0.01]. In theNICU, they are more likely to manifest respiratory distresssyndrome [odds ratio (OR)=5.7, 95% CI=1.6-19.8, P<0.01]and hypoglycemia (OR=4.6, 95% CI=2.0-10.4, P<0.001).In addition, early term neonates were more likely to beborn via elective cesarean section than other term neonates(OR=4.1, 95% CI=2.0-8.5, P<0.001).Conclusions: Being born at early term is associatedwith increased risk of respiratory disease and hypoglycemiarequiring neonatal intensive care. Further efforts directedat decreasing early term deliveries may be warranted.

Background： Australia＇s energy future is at the crossroads and the role of renewable sources is in focus. Biomass from sustainably managed forests provide a significant opportunity for electricity and heat generation and production of liquid fuels. Australia has extensive native forests of which a significant proportion are on private land. However, there is limited knowledge on the potential capacity of this resource to contribute to the expansion of a biomass for bioenergy industry. In addition, there are concerns on how to reconcile biomass harvesting with environmental protection. Methods： We used regional ecosystem vegetation mapping for Queensland to stratify harvestable forests within the 1.8 m hectares of private native forests present in the Southeast Queensland bioregion in 2014. We used a dataset of 52,620 individual tree measurements from 541 forest inventory plots collected over the last 10 years. Tree biomass was estimated using current biomass allometric equations for Australia. Biomass potentially available from selective sawlog harvesting and silvicultural treatment across the bioregion was calculated and mapped. Results： Current sawlog harvesting extracts 41.4% of the standing tree biomass and a biomass for bioenergy harvest would retain on average 36% of felled tree biomass on site for the protection of environmental and fauna habitat values. The estimated area extent of harvestable private native forests in the bioregion in 2013 was 888,000 ha and estimated available biomass for bioenergy in living trees was 13.6 million tonnes （t）. The spotted gum （Corymbio citriodora subsp, variegata） forests were the most extensive, covering an area of 379,823 ha and with a biomass for bioenergy yield of 14.2 t-ha-1 （with approximately 11.2 ***-1 of the biomass harvested from silvicultural thinning and 3 ***-1 recovered from sawlog harvest residual）. Yttrium-90 (Y-90) radioembolization,also known as selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT),is a regional hepatic therapy used in the treatment of unresectable colorectal cancer (CRC) liver metastases. In SIRT,Y-90 impregnated microspheres are injected into the VASCULAR SUPPLY of hepatic tumor,leading to selective irradiation and necrosis of tumor TISSUE. While several studies demonstrate improved local control and survival with SIRT,the specific indications for this therapy have yet to be defined. Typically,SIRT is given in combination with chemotherapy as multimodal treatment for unresectable hepatic CRC. However,it HAS ALSO FOUND INCREASING USE as a salvage therapy in chemo-refractory patients. Herein,the authors describe their experience with SIRT as "stand alone" therapy in a surgically-prohibitive,chemotherapy naive patient with hepatic CRC metastasis. The results suggest that Y-90 SIRT may have potential applications beyond its usual role as a palliative or salvage therapy for unresectable hepatic CRC.

Myocarditis is now recognized as a rare complication of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)mRNA vaccination,particularly in adolescent and young adult *** the authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech^(TM)and Moderna^(TM)mRNA vaccines targeting the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARSCoV-2)spike protein,the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)has reported 1175 confirmed cases of myocarditis after COVID-19 vaccination in individuals ages 30 years and younger as of January *** to CDC data in June 2021,the incidence of vaccine-mediated myocarditis in males ages 12-29 years old was estimated to be 40.6 cases per million second doses of COVID-19 mRNA vaccination *** with cases of COVID-19 vaccinemediated myocarditis typically present with acute chest pain and elevated serum troponin levels,often within one week of receiving the second dose of mRNA COVID-19 *** cases follow a benign clinical course with prompt resolution of *** mechanisms of COVID-19 vaccine myocarditis include molecular mimicry between SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and self-antigens and the triggering of preexisting dysregulated immune pathways in predisposed *** higher incidence of COVID-19 vaccine myocarditis in young males may be explained by testosterone and its role in modulating the immune response in *** is limited data on long-term outcomes in these cases given the recency of their *** CDC continues to recommend COVID-19 vaccination for everyone 5 years of age and older given the greater risk of serious complications related to natural COVID-19 infection including hospitalization,multisystem organ dysfunction,and *** study is needed to better understand the immunopathology and long-term outcomes behind COVID-19 mRNA vaccine-mediated myocarditis.
