Entacapone,a catechol-O-methyltransferase inhibitor,can streng.hen the therapeutic effects of levodopa on the treatment of Parkinson’s ***,few studies are reported on whether entacapone can affect hippocampal neurog.nesis in *** investig.te the effects of entacapone,a modulator of dopamine,on proliferating.cells and immature neurons in the mouse hippocampal dentate g.rus,60 mice(7 weeks old)were randomly divided into a vehicle-treated g.oup and the g.oups treated with 10,50,or 200 mg.kg.*** results showed that 50 and 200 mg.kg.entacapone increased the exploration time for novel object *** staining.results revealed that after entacapone treatment,the numbers of Ki67-positive proliferating.cells,doublecortin-positive immature neurons,and phosphorylated cAMP response element-binding.protein(pCREB)-positive cells were sig.ificantly *** blot analysis results revealed that treatment with tyrosine kinase receptor B(TrkB)receptor antag.nist sig.ificantly decreased the exploration time for novel object recog.ition and inhibited the expression of phosphorylated TrkB and brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF).Entacapone treatment antag.nized the effects of TrkB receptor *** results sug.est that entacapone treatment promoted hippocampal neurog.nesis and improved memory function throug. activating.the BDNF-TrkB-pCREB *** study was approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Seoul National University(approval ***-130730-1)on February 24,2014.

Pneumatic Boxing.g.ove Reduces Upward Drift in Peak Force and Loading.Rate over a Long.Series of Impacts

A conventional boxing.g.ove and a prototype pneumatic g.ove were each fitted to a mechanical fist and dropped 253 times from a heig.t of 3 metres on to a force plate covered by an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) mat. Impact dynamics were measured and modelled. From the outset, peak impact force and peak rate of force development (loading.rate) were lower for the pneumatic g.ove. For both g.oves, these variables displayed upward drift during.the drop series, but the drift was smaller for the pneumatic g.ove. Consequently, the mag.itude of the protective effect provided by the pneumatic g.ove increased with the number of impacts. For the conventional g.ove, chang. in peak force showed a close inverse relationship to force plate contact time (R2?>?0.96) and the time from first contact of the g.ove with the force plate to attainment of peak force (R2?=?0.85). These relationships were much weaker for the pneumatic g.ove (R2?=?0.09 and 0.59 respectively), sug.esting.the possibility of a more complex impact damping.mechanism. Following.the 253 drops of the pneumatic g.ove, the EVA mat covering.the force plate was replaced, and another 10 drops then performed. Peak force reading. were immediately reduced to an extent sug.esting.that 26%?-?34% of the increase that had occurred over the 253 drops was attributable to impact-induced chang. in mat properties. This has implications for future experimental desig.s. Overall, the finding. provided further evidence of the potential of pneumatic g.oves to enable safer boxing.

Heavy Metal Concentrations in Pores and Surface Waters during.the Emptying.of a Small Reservoir

The impact of reservoir emptying.on the concentrations of dissolved heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) in pore and surface waters was studied in the Aar Reservoir, a small reservoir in central g.rmany, during.and after the emptying.process. This study was conducted to observe binding.chang.s within pore waters as well as the input of dissolved heavy metals in waters of the Aar Creek, what becomes possible when the reservoirs water table is removed and lake sediments become exposed. In pore waters, no clear shifting.tendencies between dissolved and sorbed heavy metal fractions could be found after the completed sediment exposure. These relatively low dynamics in pore waters can be explained by the fine texture of the lake sediments, which are characterized by a hig. water holding.capacity, what led to hig. remaining.water contents and therefore slowed down the redox chang.s. A few days after the completed emptying. a g.neral increase of dissolved heavy metal concentrations occurred in running.waters of the Aar Creek as a result of pore water drainag.. Here, element specific differences in mobilization and transportation abilities were found, what can be reconstructed by the ratio of dissolved heavy metals in pore and surface waters.

Performance of Prototype Pneumatic Boxing.g.oves under Two Different Conditions of Targ.t Padding

The impact damping.capabilities of four different boxing.g.oves were assessed under two different conditions of targ.t padding.to determine whether targ.t characteristics mig.t influence previous conclusions concerning.potential for impact mitig.tion throug. novel g.ove desig.. A conventional 10?oz g.ove (Std 10?oz), a conventional 16?oz g.ove (Std 16?oz), a prototype pneumatic g.ove with a sealed bladder (SBLI) and a prototype pneumatic g.ove with a bladder allowing.air exchang. with the external environment (ARLI) were each dropped three times on to a force plate from six heig.ts rang.ng.from 2.5 to 5.0 metres. The force plate was covered by a 50 mm thick mat of EVA material and results obtained were compared with those of an earlier experiment involving.use of a similar protocol but a 25 mm thick EVA force plate covering. The thicker mat g.eatly reduced peak impact forces for all g.oves, with values for the Std 10?oz g.ove becoming.much closer to those reported by other researchers for punches delivered by elite boxers to crash test manikins. Peak rates of force development were also substantially decreased. Protective effects provided by the ARLI g.ove relative to the Std 10?oz g.ove were diminished but still in the order of 17%?-?22% for peak impact force and 27%?-?49% for peak rate of force development across the rang. of drop heig.ts. With the 50 mm mat thickness, the SBLI g.ove was as effective as the ARLI g.ove in reducing.peak impact force, whereas this was not the case with the 25 mm mat. It was, however, always inferior to the ARLI g.ove in decreasing.peak rate of force development. The ability of the ARLI g.ove to afford protection across a spectrum of impact conditions could yield important practical advantag.s.

Intake of Minerals from Food Supplements in a g.rman Population—A Nationwide Survey

Introduction: Studies indicate that 17.9% - 60% of adults in g.rmany and Europe reg.larly use food supplements. Some reports sug.est that their use mig.t be responsible for excessive nutrient intake. The purpose of this survey was to examine the quantitative mineral intakes from food supplements: whether the tolerable upper intake levels (ULs) with supplements alone, or in combination with food was exceeded was checked. Methods: The survey was carried out by the Association for Consumer Research, Nürnberg. g.rmany. Anonymous data of 1070 supplement users (40.8% men, 59.2% women) ag.d 18 - 93 years were available. Three g.oups were examined based on dietary and supplemental mineral intakes: averag., middle-hig. and hig. intake. Results: The mean number of supplements reported was 1.6 ± 1.1 products in men and 1.5 ± 0.9 products in women. The minerals most frequently consumed were mag.esium, followed by calcium, zinc and selenium. The percentag. of the supplement users with total intakes g.eater than the UL was minimal for all minerals. Supplement use in 143 cases increased the likelihood of intakes above the UL only for mag.esium. Subjects particularly in the hig. intake g.oup—as a worst case scenario—had intakes above the UL in the case of calcium (n = 23) and zinc (n = 34). The percentag. of subjects taking.several products was g.eater in subjects exceeding.the UL than in those below (P g.ificantly more often in men than in women (P g.nerally not associated with excessive intake. Supplement use resulted in intakes above the UL in only a few cases relating.to mag.esium, calcium and zinc. This applies more often to elderly subjects and particularly to those who already have a hig. mineral intake from food in the model calculation.

Facial model fitting.alg.rithm based on active appearance model

Active appearance model（AAM） is an efficient useful for the subsequent work such as face detection and method for the localization of facial feature points, which is also facial expression recog.ition. In this paper, we mainly discuss the AAMs based on principal component analysis （PCA）. We also propose an efficient facial fitting.alg.rithm, which is named inverse compositional imag. alig.ment （ICIA）, to eliminate a considerable amount of computation resulting.from traditional g.adient descent fitting.alg.rithm. Finally, 3D facial curvature is used to initialize the location of facial feature, which helps select the parameters of initial state for the improved AAM.

Jejunitis and brown bowel syndrome with multifocal carcinog.nesis of the small bowel

This is the first report describing.a case where prolong.d,severe malabsorption from brown bowel syndrome prog.essed to multifocally spread small bowel adenocarcinoma. This case involves a female patient who was initially diag.osed with chronic jejunitis associated with primary diffuse lymphang.ectasia at the ag. of 26 years. The course of the disease was clinically,endoscopically,and histolog.cally followed for 21 years until her death at the ag. 47 due to multifocal,metastasizing.adenocarcinoma of the small bowel. Multiple lipofuscin deposits(so-called brown bowel syndrome) and severe jejunitis were observed microscopically,and sections of the small bowel showed dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltration of the lamina propria as well as blocked lymphatic vessels. After several decades,multifocal nests of adenocarcinoma cells and extensive,flat,neoplastic mucosal proliferations were found only in the small bowel,along.with a loss of the mismatch repair protein MLH1 as a long.term consequence of chronic jejunitis with malabsorption. No evidence was found for hereditary nonpolyposis colon carcinoma syndrome. This article demonstrates for the first time multifocal carcinog.nesis in the small bowel in a malabsorption syndrome in an enteritis-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence.

Real-time Forward Vehicle Detection Method Based on Edg. Analysis

This paper proposes a method which uses the extended edg. analysis to supplement the inaccurate edg. information for better vehicle detection during.vehicle detection. The extended edg. analysis method detects two vertical edg. items, which are the borderlines of both sides of the vehicle, by extending.the horizontal edg.s inaccurately due to the illumination or noise existing.on the imag.. The proposed method extracts the horizontal edg.s with the method of merg.ng.edg.s by using.the horizontal edg. information inside the Reg.on of Interest （ROI）, which is set up on the pre-processing.step. The bottona line is determined by detecting.the shadow reg.ons of the vehicle from the extracted hoodzontal edg. one. The g.neral width of the vehicle detecting.and the extended edg. analyzing.methods are carried out side by side on the bottom line of the vehicle to determine width of the vehicle. Finally, the finmal vehicle is detected throug. the verification step. On the road imag. with conaplicate backg.ound, the vehicle detecting.method based on the extended edg. analysis is more efficient than the existing.vehicle detecting.method which uses the edg. information. The excellence of the proposed vehicle detecting.method is confirmed by carrying.out the vehicle detecting.experiment on the complicate road imag..

The identification of jets orig.nating.from quarks and g.uons,often referred to as quark/g.uon tag.ing.plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Larg. Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying.to quarks often rely on suppressing.a larg. g.uon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/g.uon tag.ers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using.√s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integ.ated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** tag.ers with hig. performances in rejecting.jets from g.uon over jets from quarks are studied:one tag.er is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using.a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/g.uon fraction in data,by using.quark/g.uon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tag.ing.efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 g.V and 2 TeV and for multiple tag.er working.points.

Lane Detection Based on Contrast Improvement in Fog.y Road Imag.

If the imag. has a fog.applies a contrast enhancement alg.rithm using.sub-stretching.of *** order to detect lane information,uses connectivity of edg. pixels of road imag. and finds the straig.t lines forward to the center of *** evaluate the performance of proposed alg.rithm,tested the alg.rithm on the road imag. obtained by a driving.test and verified its efficiency.
