Aminoglycosides (AGs) are a class of.antibiotics with a broad spectrum of.activity. However, their use is limited by saf.ty concerns associated with nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, as well as drug resistance. To address these issues, semi-synthetic approaches f.r modif.ing natural AGs have generated new generations of.AGs, however, with limited types of.modif.cation due to signif.cant challenges in synthesis. This study explores a novel approach that harness the bacterial biosynthetic machinery of.gentamicins and kanamycins to create hybrid AGs. This was achieved by glycodiversif.cation of.gentamicins via swapping the glycosyltransf.rase (GT) in their producer with the GT f.om kanamycins biosynthetic pathway and resulted in the creation of.a series of.novel AGs, theref.re ref.rred to as genkamicins (GKs). The manipulation of.the hybrid biosynthetic pathway enabled the targeted accumulation of.dif.erent GK species and the isolation and characterization of.six GK components. These compounds display retained antimicrobial activity against a panel of.World Health Organization (WHO) critical priority pathogens, and GK-C2a, in particular, demonstrates low ototoxicity compared to clinical drugs in zebraf.sh embryos. This study provides a new strategy f.r diversif.ing the structure of.AGs and a potential avenue f.r developing less toxic AG drugs to combat inf.ctious diseases.

We investigate decomposition of.codes and f.nite languages. A prime decomposition is a decomposition of.a code or languages into a concatenation of.nontrivial prime codes or languages. A code is prime if.it cannot be decomposed into at least two nontrivial codes as the same f.r the languages. In the paper, a linear time algorithm is designed, which f.nds the prime decomposition. If.codes or f.nite languages are presented as given by its minimal deterministic automaton, then f.om the point of.view of.abstract algebra and graph theory, this automaton has special properties. The study was conducted using system f.r computational Discrete Algebra GAP. .

Ef.ects of.Supplemental Glutamine and Lysine on Growth Perf.rmance of.Broiler Chickens

The optimum levels of.Lysine and Glutamine needed f.r growth perf.rmance and maintenance of.the chicken broilers were evaluated in a randomized 3 × 4 f.ctorial arrangement of.dietary treatments. The battery cages measured 99 × 66 × 25 cm that can be suf.icient f.r 5 birds. Day old Chicken broilers totaling 180 were assigned to dietary treatments comprising of.3 concentrations of.Lysine (0.85, 1.14, and 1.42) each in combination with 4 concentrations of.Glutamine (0, 1, 2, and 3). Each dietary treatment was replicated 3 times and each replication had 5 birds. The birds were given f.ed and water ad libitum with a 23-hour light regimen f.r a period of.4 weeks. Then, the experimental birds were evaluated f.r body weight gain, f.ed consumption, and f.ed conversion in order to determine their optimum requirement f.r dietary Lysine and Glutamine. Based on the f.ndings of.this study, the highest perf.rmance was observed in birds f.d the diet supplemented with 1.42 lysine and 1% glutamine, but the highest improvement in f.ed conversion was observed in diet contain 1.14 and 1.42 with 1% and 3% glutamine, respectively. Birds f.d 1.42 lysine and 1% glutamine had the highest total body weight gain and f.ed consumption. The lysine requirements in the diet f.r Chicken are between 1.14 and 1.42 with glutamine level of.1%.

On the “Onion Husk” Algorithm f.r Approximate Solution of.the Traveling Salesman Problem

The paper describes some implementation aspects of.an algorithm f.r approximate solution of.the traveling salesman problem based on the construction of.convex closed contours on the initial set of.points (“cities”) and their subsequent combination into a closed path (the so-called contour algorithm or “onion husk” algorithm). A number of.heuristics related to the dif.erent stages of.the algorithm are considered, and various variants of.the algorithm based on these heuristics are analyzed. Sets of.randomly generated points of.dif.erent sizes (f.om 4 to 90 and f.om 500 to 10,000) were used to test the algorithms. The numerical results obtained are compared with the results of.two well-known combinatorial optimization algorithms, namely the algorithm based on the branch and bound method and the simulated annealing algorithm. .

As the sole obligate symbiotic birds in Af.ica, oxpeckers of.er a unique model f.r studying symbiotic relationships. Due to the multitrophic level they occupy and the context dependent f.raging behavior they exhibit, the type of.symbiotic relationship can be variable. In addition to providing a cleaning service to the host by removing ticks, oxpeckers f.equently f.ed on blood, mucus, and saliva, inf.icting potential damage on the host. Here, we used DNA metabarcoding on f.ecal samples to analyze the taxonomic composition of.the trophic interactions of.the Yellow-billed Oxpecker(Buphagus af.icanus) and Red-billed Oxpecker(B. erythrorhynchus) in northeastern Namibia. In contrast to conventional methods, DNA metabarcoding allows f.r a detailed identif.cation of.dietary resources encompassing both mammal hosts and consumed arthropods within the same samples. With this inf.rmation, we examined dif.erences in the diet composition between oxpecker species and localities, as well as the co-occurrence between host and arthropod species. Our f.ndings revealed that oxpeckers predominantly source their diet f.om mammals, ticks, and f.ies; however, ticks and f.ies rarely co-occur in the diet of.an individual. We observed variability among individuals in their f.eding ecology, which is strongly correlated with locality and, to a lesser extent, with the mammal host. We noted a high degree of.mobility between hosts within relatively short periods, with 32% of.the samples showing traces of.at least two mammal hosts. This study illustrates the dynamic f.raging behavior of.these specialized symbiotic birds, shedding light on their potential role in pest control services and disease transmission.

Higher-order mode analysis f.r SOLEIL-type superconducting cavity

A 499.8 MHz SOLEIL-type superconducting cavity was simulated and designed f.r the f.rst time in this paper. The higher-order mode (HOM) properties of.the cavity were investigated. Two kinds of.coaxial HOM couplers were designed. Using 4 L-type and 4 T-type HOM couplers, the longitudinal impedance was suppressed to 3 kΩ, and the transverse impedance below 30 kΩ/m. The HOM damping requirements of.Hef.i Advanced Light f.cility (HALf. were satisf.ed. This paper conducts an in-depth study on the radio f.equency (Rf. design, multipacting optimization, and thermal analysis of.these coaxial couplers. Simulation results indicated that under operating acceleration voltage, the optimized couplers does not exhibit multiplicating or thermal breakdown phenomena. The cavity has the potential to reach a higher acceleration gradient.

Bio-f.rtilizer Improved Oil Palm Seedling Growth

In most f.rming systems newly introduced commercial f.rtilizers to be accepted, adopted and used by f.rmers, their ef.ectiveness and appropriate application rates must be exhibited. This study was conducted to validate the ef.ect and rates of.a bio-f.rtilizer (super agric) on oil palm seedling growth. The trial was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three application rates of.0, 4 and 8 ml/L of.water (treatments) replicated thrice. f.llowing the application of.super agric to oil palm seedlings f.r a period of.six months, observations drawn f.om the analysis of.growth data were as f.llows: Three months af.er treatment, super agric signif.cantly (P f.oil palm seedling compared to those which were not applied with super agric. The results also showed that when super agric was applied at a rate of.4 ml/L, the leaf.length and breadth were higher compared to the control were super agric was not used. f.rthermore, applications of.super agric improved oil palm seedling nitrogen uptake by 31% in treatment groups as compared to the control which explained the height and breadth increase in the oil palm seedlings that were applied with super agric. On the other hand, the ef.ect of.super agric application on phosphorus uptake by seedlings was not signif.cant. Although the height, breadth, leaf.width and length were all signif.cantly af.ected by super agric application, the number of.oil palm leaves and spears were not af.ected f.r the period the experiment was conducted. Six months af.er application of.super agric the growth of.oil palm seedlings was f.vorably impacted, hence we recommend super agric to be promoted among oil palm seedling growers.
