白粉菌powdery mildews是一类植物专性寄生病原真菌。柳属Salix植物上共报道白粉菌4属6种及2个变种,即Podosphaera schlechtendalii、Phyllactinia populi、Pleochaeta salicicola、Erysiphe salicis ***和***-gracilistylae、***和***。其中白粉菌属Erysiphe的3个种属于白粉菌属的钩丝壳组Erysiphe ***。2021年伊朗学者Hamideh Darsaraei等人对柳属Salix植物上的钩丝壳组白粉菌物种进行了分类学和系统发育分析,发现其多样性远高于之前的记录。目前中国对柳属Salix植物上的钩丝壳组白粉菌缺少系统性的调查研究,本研究对中国柳属Salix植物上的钩丝壳组白粉菌标本进行形态学检查和系统发育分析,在柳属Salix黄花柳组***的大黄柳Salix abscondita (=***)、中国黄花柳***和谷柳***上发现了一个新的隐藏物种,并将其命名为柳生白粉菌Erysiphe salicina ***.。同时,基于ITS和28S r DNA的系统发育分析结果表明,之前鉴定为变种*** ***-gracilistylae的标本序列形成独立的系统发育分支,将其修订为新组合***-gracilistylae ***.(≡Uncinula salicis-gracilistylae),而在韩国的细柱柳***上发现的***应为***-gracilistylae的异名。这一研究结果明确了中国柳属Salix植物上钩丝壳组白粉菌的种类,为之后研究其他植物白粉菌类群的多样性提供了借鉴。

Outcomes of central hepatectomy versus extended hepatectomy

Background: Central hepatectomy(CH) is more difficult than extended hepatectomy(EH) and is associated with greater morbidity. In this modern era of liver management with aims to prevent posthepatectomy liver failure(PHLF), there is a need to assess outcomes of CH as a parenchyma-sparing procedure for centrally located liver tumors. Methods: A total of 178 major liver resections performed by specialist surgeons from two Australian tertiary institutions between June 2009 and March 2017 were reviewed. Eleven patients had CH and 24 had EH over this study period. Indications and perioperative outcomes were compared between the groups. Results: The main indication for performing CH was colorectal liver metastases. There was no perioperative mortality in the CH group and four(16.7%) in the EH group( P = 0.285). No group differences were found in median operative time [CH vs. EH: 450 min(290–840) vs. 523 min(310–860), P = 0.328], intraoperative blood loss [850 mL(40 0–150 0) vs. 650 mL(10 0–20 0 0), P = 0.746] or patients requiring intraoperative blood transfusion [1(9.1%) vs. 7(30.4%), P = 0.227]. There was a trend towards fewer hepatectomyspecific complications in the CH group [3(27.3%) vs. 13(54.2%), P = 0.167], including PHLF(CH vs. EH: 0 vs. 29.2%, P = 0.072). Median length of stay was similar between groups [CH vs. EH: 9 days(5–23) vs. 12 days(4–85), P = 0.244]. Conclusions: CH has equivalent postoperative outcomes to EH. There is a trend towards fewer hepatectomy-specific complications, including PHLF. In appropriate patients, CH may be considered as a safe parenchyma-sparing alternative to EH.

Lack of correlation between Treg quantification assays in inflammatory bowel disease patients

AIM:To compare the number of regulatory T-cells( Tregs) measured by flow cytometry with those obtained using a real-time quantitative PCR(q PCR) method in patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS:Tregs percentages obtained by both flow cytometry and q PCR methods in 35 adult IBD patients,18 out of them with Crohn′s disease(CD)and 17 with ulcerative colitis(UC)were compared to each other as well as to scores on two IBD activity questionnaires using the Harvey bradshaw Index(HBI)for CD patients and the Simple Colitis Clinical Activity Index(SCCAI)for UC *** Treg percentages by flow cytometry were defined as CD4+CD25highCD127lowFOXP3+cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells,whereas the Treg percentages by q PCR method were determined as FOXP3 promoter demethylation in genomic ***:We found an average of 1.56%±0.78%Tregs by using flow cytometry,compared to 1.07%±0.53%Tregs by using q PCR in adult IBD *** were no significant correlations between either the percentages of Tregs measured by flow cytometry or q PCR and the HBI or SCCAI questionnaire scores in CD or UC patients,*** addition,there was no correlation between Treg percentages measured by q PCR and those measured by flow cytometry(r=-0.06,P=0.73;Spearman Rho).These data suggest that,either Treg-related immune function or the clinical scores in these IBD patients did not accurately reflect actual disease *** the cause(s)for these differences are more clearly defined,the resultssuggest caution in interpreting studies of Tregs in various inflammatory ***:The two methods did not produce equivalent measures of the percentage of total Tregs in the IBD patients studied which is consistent with the conclusion that Tregs subtypes are not equally detected by these two assays.

Simple pain measures reveal psycho-social pathology in patients with Crohn's disease

To determine whether pain has psycho-social associations in adult Crohn’s disease (CD) *** completed demographics, disease status, Patient Harvey-bradshaw Index (P-HBI), Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), Short Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (SIBDQ), and five socio-psychological questionnaires: Brief Symptom Inventory, Brief COPE Inventory, Family Assessment Device, Satisfaction with Life Scale, and Work Productivity and Activity Impairment Questionnaire. Pain sub-scales in P-HBI, SF-36 and SIBDQ measures were recoded into 4 identical scores for univariate and multinomial logistic regression analysis of associations with psycho-social *** cohort comprised 594 patients, mean age 38.6 ± 14.8 years, women 52.5%, P-HBI 5.76 ± 5.15. P-HBI, SF-36 and SIBDQ broadly agreed in their assessment of pain intensity. More severe pain was significantly associated with female gender, low socio-economic status, unemployment, Israeli birth and smoking. Higher pain scores correlated positively with psychological stress, dysfunctional coping strategies, poor family relationships, absenteeism, presenteeism, productivity loss and activity impairment and all WPAI sub-scores. Patients exhibiting greater satisfaction with life had less pain. The regression showed increasing odds ratios for psychological stress (lowest 2.26, highest 12.17) and female gender (highest 3.19) with increasing pain. Internet-recruited patients were sicker and differed from hardcopy questionnaire patients in their associations with *** measures in P-HBI, SF-36 and SIBDQ correlate with psycho-social pathology in CD. Physicians should be aware also of these relationships in approaching CD patients with pain.
