Many modifications to growing environments and specific stress induction techniques exist which are supported by preliminary research to increase yield and/or concentration of secondary metabolites in Cannabis sativa L. One such technique is the modification of the spectral composition of light late in flowering-stage development. In this study, we evaluated the hypothesis that the addition of narrow bandwidth UV-A light and the combination of narrow bandwidth blue and red light, during the final two weeks of the flowering cycle affect the concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes, with no difference in harvest dry weight. Three treatments were used in this experimental design, 1) control-full spectrum illumination, 2) UV-A (~390 nm) at ~66 PPFD in addition to control lighting, and 3) blue (~450 nm) and red (~660 nm) at ~158 PPFD in addition to control lighting. Light treatments were initiated during the final two weeks of flowering to assess secondary metabolite concentration (cannabinoids and terpenes) and yield of three cannabis cultivars (Type I (Larry OG), Type II (Pootie Tang), and Type III (Super white)). With two of the three cultivars used in this study responding with enhanced production of THC our results support the potential beneficial effects of attributed light-mediated treatments on cannabinoid production. On the other hand, our results show contrasting trends for terpene production and yield of dry weight flower.

Due to roots'physical and physiological roles in crop productivity,interest in root system architecture(RSA)and plasticity in responses to abiotic stresses is *** is significant for the food security of millions of *** deficiency is an important limitation of sorghum *** is little information on the RSA-based responses of sorghum to variations in external P supply([P]_(ext)).This study evaluated the phenotypic plasticity and RSA responses to a range of[P]_(ext) in 2 sorghum *** results showed that both genotypes responded to[P]_(ext) but with significant variations in about 80%of the RSA traits *** biomass and most RSA traits increased with increasing[P]_(ext).Plasticity was both genotype-and *** most RSA traits,the white sorghum genotype showed significantly higher plasticity than the red genotype,with the former having about 28.4%higher total plasticity than the *** traits,such as convex area,surface area,total root length,and length diameter ranges,showed sizeable genetic *** biomass had a high degree of plasticity,but root number and angle traits were the leading contributors to *** results suggested 2 root trait spectra:root exploration and developmental spectrum,and there was an indication of potential trade-offs among groups of root *** is concluded that RSA traits in sorghum contribute to variability and plasticity in response to[P]_(ext).Given that there might be trade-offs among sorghum root traits,it would be instructive to determine the fundamental constraints underlying these trade-offs.

AIM To characterize esophageal endoluminal landmarks to permit radial and longitudinal esophageal orientation and accurate lesion *** Distance from the incisors and radial orientation were estimated for the main left bronchus and the left atrium landmarks in 207 consecutive patients using white light examination. A sub-study was also performed using white light followed by endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) in 25 consecutive patients to confirm the *** scope orientation throughout the exam was maintained at the natural axis,where the left esophageal quadrant corresponds to the area between 6 and 9 o'clock. When an anatomical landmark was identified, it was recorded with a photograph and its quadrant orientation and distance from the incisors were determined. The reference points to obtain the distances and radial orientation were as follows: the midpoint of the left main bronchus and the most intense pulsatile zone of the left atrium. With the video processor system set to moderate insufflation, measurements were obtained at the end of the patients' air *** The left main bronchus and left atrium esophageal landmarks were identified using white light in 99% and 100% of subjects at a mean distance of 25.8 cm(SD2.3), and 31.4 cm(SD 2.4) from the incisors, respectively. The left main bronchus landmark was found to be a tubular, concave, non-pulsatile, esophageal external compression, occupying approximately 1/4 of the circumference. The left atrium landmark was identified as a round, convex, pulsatile, esophageal external compression, occupying approximately 1/4 of the circumference. Both landmarks were identified using white light on the anterior esophageal quadrant. Traditionally RF power amplifiers used Gallium Arsenide(GaAs) technology which has a well behaved and understood performance. Over the past few years Gallium Nitride(GaN) technology is replacing GaAs because GaN is more efficient and has a higher power density resulting in higher power MMICs and *** to system link budgets, we usually want to run a given amplifier as close to saturation as possible to minimize CAPEX costs. Running an amplifier closer to saturation causes many non-linear effects that can cause link performance degradation and interfere with other *** better understand and quantify the differences between GaN and GaAs amplifiers and the impact of this on system performance, some amplifier and system measurements will be taken. Highly active antiretroviral treatment(HAART) has had a significant impact on survival of individuals with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS);however,with the longer life-span of patients with AIDS,there is increasing prevalence of AIDS dementia complex(ADC) and other non-AIDS-defining illness,and cardiovascular diseases(CVD) are also *** influence of these varied disease processes on HIV-1 DNA concentration in brain tissues has not been thoroughly assessed in the post-HAART *** purpose of the current study is to clarify the impacts of ADC and other complications of HIV disease on the viral load in the brains in AIDS patients with *** examined autopsy specimens from the brains of thirteen patients who died from complications of AIDS with quantitative polymerase chain reaction(QPCR).All but one patient had received HAART prior to death since *** patients died with severe CVD,multiple cerebrovascular atherosclerosis(CVA) throughout the brain and five patients died with *** patients had no ADC/CVA.A QPCR was used to measure the presence of HIV-1 DNA in six brain tissues(meninges,frontal grey matter,frontal white matter,temporal subcortex,cerebellum and basal ganglia).In the post-HARRT era,for non-ADC/CVA patients,HIV-1 DNA concentration in brain tissues was statistically higher than that in patients with *** a new finding,two patients who suffered from severe CVD,especially CVA,also had high concentrations of HIV-1 in brain compartments not showing ADC related *** our knowledge,this is the first report of a relationship between the CVA and HIV-1 viral burden in *** current observations suggest that HAART-resistant HIV reservoirs may survive within ADC lesions of the brain as well as the macrophage rich atherosclerosis,which needs to be confirmed by more AIDS cases with CVA.
