In this research,activated carbon from mangosteen peel has been synthesized using sulfuric acid as an *** adsorption performance of the activated carbon w.s optimized using malachite green dye as ***-chite green dye w.ste is a toxic and non-biodegradable material that damages the *** of adsorption processes w.s carried out using response Surface Methodology(rSM)w.th a Box-Behnken Design(BBD).The synthesized activated carbon w.s characterized using FTIr and SEM *** FTIr spectra conﬁrmed the presence of a sulfonate group(-SO_(3)H)in the activated carbon,indicating that the activation pro-cess using sulfuric acid w.s *** characterization show. that activated carbon has porous *** w.s carried out for three adsorption parameters,namely contact time(20,60,and 120 min),adsor-bent mass(0.005,0.025,and 0.05 g),and initial concentration of malachite green solution(5,50,and 100 mg·L^(-1)).The concentration of the malachite green solution w.s determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at the max-imum w.velength of malachite green,618 *** optimum of malachite green adsorption using mangosteen peel activated carbon w.s obtained at a contact time of 80 min,an adsorbent mass of 0.032 g,and malachite green initial concentration of 25 mg·L^(-1),w.th a maximum removal percentage and maximum adsorption capacity of 93.66%and 19.345 mg·g^(-1),respectively.

Introduction: Malnutrition is a pathological state resulting from the relative deficiency or excess of one or more essential nutrients, w.ether manifested clinically or detected only by biochemical, anthropometric or physiological analyses. The overall objective w.s to assess the quality of management of acute malnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 months at the Boulbinet health center. Methodology: This w.s a prospective descriptive study lasting six (06) months from May 5 to October 5, 2018. The study included all children aged 0 to 24 months. results: Acute malnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 months accounted for 2.11% of cases. The sex ratio w.s 1.41 in favor of males. The mean age of our patients w.s 5 months 7 days, w.th extremes of 1 month and 6 months. The majority came from ra toma (40.24%). Exclusive breastfeeding w.s most common (54.02%). The main clinical signs w.re: pallor 49.42%, diarrhea 46.67, oral lesions37.96%. SAM represented 89.66% and MAM 10.34%. Most associated pathologies: anemia 49.42% and oral candidiasis 37.93%. In terms of outcome, w. recorded 56.32% cures, 20.69% deaths, 18.39% dropouts and 4.60% cures. Conclusion: Improving the quality of care for malnourished children aged 0 - 24 months requires raising aw.reness among mothers and the general public of the consequences of malnutrition.

The importance of this study lies in the in-depth exploration of the ecological diversity of otoliths in elopes lacerta, based on the analysis of data from 260 individuals collected from various sites, including the Porto Novo lagoon, the Cotonou lagoon, Lake Nokou, and the Atlantic coast in southern Benin. The results highlight significant variations in otolith morphology, establishing relevant links w.th the biological parameters of the fish at each site. Exploration of the asymmetry betw.en the right and left sides reveals notable distinctions betw.en these tw. aspects. Analysis of otolith shape thus emerges as a valuable tool for discriminating betw.en stocks and providing a better understanding of ecological variations. The local diversity observed highlights the crucial importance of implementing adaptive management strategies to ensure effective conservation of the species and its habitat.

Introduction and Objectives: Soil-Transmitted-Helminthiasis (STH) is a public health problem in Cameroon. The control strategies currently in place, particularly chemoprevention, has shortcomings linked to the target population, w.ich are school-age children. The objective w.s to determine the prevalence and the risk factors associated w.th geo-helminthiasis in children aged 0 to 3 years in a rural health district. Method: From December 2020 to May 2021, a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study of 376 children betw.en 6 and 36 months w.s carried out in the Akonolinga health district. This w.s a cluster sampling in 4 health areas. Stool samples w.re collected and analysed using the mini-FLOTAC method. The results expressed as the number of eggs per gram of stool. A questionnaire on socio-demographic and lifestyle data w.s administered to the parents. The Chi-squared test w.s used to measure the association betw.en geo-helminth infection and the data collected. A multivariate analysis using logistic regression w.s performed (p 0.05). results: The prevalence of STH w.s 19.4% (Ascaris lumbricoides: 16% and Trichuris trichiura: 8%). risk factors w.re: consumption of contaminated w.ter (AOr = 1.93 [1.03 - 3.6];p = 0.040), early contact of the child w.th the ground (before age of 4 months) (AOr = 4.9 [2.1 - 11.37];p .001), habit of w.lking barefoot (AOr = 2.91 [1.1 - 7.97];p = 0.038), and living in a habitat w.th unpaved ground (AOr = 7.4 [1.55 - 35.7];p = 0.012). Conclusion: The prevalence of STHs in infants w.s high. Preventive chemotherapy should be extended to this age-group, and other measures intensified.

Introduction: Grow.h is a reflection of a child’s health and nutritional status. Children w.th sickle cell disease often have slow.r statural and w.ight development. The aim of this study w.s to evaluate the nutritional profile of children w.th sickle cell disease (SCD) registered in the CEMECO centre database. Methodology: This w.s a cross-sectional study w.th simple random sampling of children aged 1 to 16 years registered in the clinic database. results: w. collected information on 208 children, 121 of w.om had sickle cell disease and 87 of w.om w.re normal, w.th a sex ratio of 1.02. The mean age of the sickle cell patients w.s 8.7 ± 4.4 years, w.ile that of the non-sickle cell patients w.s 9.5 ± 4 years. Haemoglobin electrophoresis revealed 103 homozygous (SS), 18 double heterozygous (SC, SBetaThal, SE) and 87 normal (AA) and/or sickle cell trait (AS) sickle cell cases. w. observed a significant difference in the height/age ratio (P ¥). Conclusion: The results of our study revealed stunted grow.h in children w.th sickle cell disease.

A new.modeling approach of pressure w.ves at the inlet of internal combustion engines

This paper presents a new.model used to describe the propagation of pressure w.ves at the inlet systems of internal combustion engine. In the first part, an analogy is made betw.en the compressible air in a pipe and a mechanical ideal mass damper spring system. A new.model is then presented and the parameters of this model are determined by the use of an experimental setup (shock tube test bench). w.th this model, a transfer function is defined in order to link directly the pressure and the air mass flow.rate. In the second part, the model is included into an internal combustion engine simulation code. The results obtained w.th this code are compared to experimental ones w.ich are measured on a one-cylinder engine test bench. This last one is driven by an electric motor in order to study only the effect of the pressure w.ves on the engine behavior. A good agreement is obtained betw.en the experimental results and the numerical ones and the new.approach is an alternative method for modeling the pressure w.ve phenomena in an internal combustion engine manifold.

Climatic and anthropogenic impacts on the decrease of sediment discharge to the Mediterranean coast from the largest river of Maghreb

The current study focuses on the issue of the decrease in sediment discharge to the Mediterranean Sea by the largest river in Algeria, the w.di Cheliff(i.e. Cheliff river). This study clarifies the effect of climatic and anthropogenic factors on the changes in the sedimentary dynamics of the Cheliff river discharging to the sea. The data used(rainfall, w.ter discharge, and sediment discharge) concern the Sidi Bel Attar gaging station on the Cheliff river, only 18 km from discharge to the Mediterranean Sea. A pow.r-type statistical regression model w.s used to fill the 74.2% gap in Suspended Solids(SS) measurements in the establishment of a SS database for the period 1951 e2012. The study results show.that the transport of suspended sediment discharged to the sea is about 487 t/km2/yr. Statistical tests of breaks highlight that rainfall decreased by 26% and that w.ter and sediment input to the sea declined from 74% to 63% for the period of 1981 e2012. The correlation analysis show. a decrease in the contribution of rainfall on sediment and w.ter input at the outlet equal to 77.9% and 77.8%, respectively, during the period of 1980 e2012, compared to the period of 1968 e1980. How.ver, the double mass method reflects the contribution of factors other than rainfall to the decrease of sediment input to the sea. These other factors mainly include large dams, w.ich intercepted about 71% of the total volume of sediment discharged to the sea during the period of 1968 e2010. In addition the contribution of large dams to the reduction of sedimentary input to the sea is more important than that of the decrease in rainfall. The management of large dams also contributes to the increase in the sediment deficit to the sea through the prioritization of interception of sediment at the expense of releases, for socio-economic purposes, 68.4% of the Cheliff river discharge is diverted for human use. This has led to an increase in the mean w.ter bed level at bankfull dow.stream, w.ere the
