Fault movement during earthquakes.is.a geotechnical phenomenon threatening buried pipelines.and with the potential to caus. s.vere damage to critical ***,effective prediction of pipe dis.lacement is.crucial for preventive management *** s.udy aims.to develop a fas.,hybrid model for predicting vertical dis.lacement of pipe networks.when they experience *** this.s.udy,the complex behavior of s.il and a buried pipeline s.s.em s.bjected to a normal fault is.analyzed by us.ng an artificial neural network(ANN)to generate predictions.the behavior of the s.il when different parameters.of it are *** this.purpos.,a finite element model is.developed for a pipeline s.bjected to normal fault *** data bank us.d for training the ANN includes.all the critical s.il parameters.cohes.on,internal friction angle,Young’s.modulus.and faulting).Furthermore,a mathematical formula is.pres.nted,bas.d on bias.s.and weights.of the ANN *** res.lts.s.ow that the maximum error of the pres.nted formula is.2.03%,which makes.the propos.d technique efficiently predict the vertical dis.lacement of buried pipelines.and hence,helps.to optimize the upcoming pipeline projects.

Objectives. This.s.udy aims.to not only inves.igate the prevalence of s.cial alienation among elderly patients.undergoing radical pros.atectomy for pros.ate cancer but als. identify the contributing factors. Materials.and methods. A total of 245 elderly patients.diagnos.d with pros.ate cancer and undergoing radical pros.atectomy at a tertiary care general hos.ital in Jinan were included in this.s.udy. To as.es. the patients. s.veral ques.ionnaires.were us.d. Thes. included the General s.tuation Ques.ionnaire, General Alienation s.ale, s.cial Impact s.ale, Modified Memorial Anxiety s.ale for Pros.ate Cancer, and Perceived s.cial s.pport s.ale. Pears.n correlation analys.s.was.conducted to examine the relations.ips.between variables. whereas.multiple linear regres.ion was.us.d to identify the factors.influencing s.cial alienation among patients.who underwent radical pros.atectomy. Res.lts. Patients.who underwent radical pros.atectomy had a mean total s.ore of 44.13 +/- 7.24 on the s.cial Alienation s.ale. The res.lts.of the Pears.n correlation analys.s.indicated that s.cial alienation s.owed an invers. as.ociation with s.cial s.pport (r = -0.627, p s.tive as.ociations.with age, dis.as. s.igma, and anxiety (r = 0.325, 0.575, 0.421, all p's.s.who underwent radical pros.atectomy. The findings.from multiple linear regres.ion analys.s.demons.rated that educational level, age, urinary incontinence, dis.as. s.igma, anxiety, and s.cial s.pport s.gnificantly influenced s.cial alienation among elderly patients.who underwent radical pros.atectomy (p s.ons. Elderly patients.who undergo radical pros.atectomy often experience s.cial alienation. This.s.udy found that s.cial alienation was.as.ociated with factors.s.ch as.educational level, age, urinary incontinence, s.cial s.pport, anxiety, and dis.as. s.igma. s.ybean is.a broadly popular and extens.vely cultivated crop, however, many high-yield and high-quality varieties.require s.ecific growth conditions. res.ricting their wides.read adoption. The appropriate light conditions.and photoperiod mus. be attained for thes. varieties.to thrive in new environments. In this.s.udy, we employed CRIs.R/Cas. to des.gn two s.RNAs.aimed at knocking out the maturity-related gene E4 in a major American s.ybean variety called ''Jack'', which belongs.to maturity group MGII. E4 gene is.primarily involved in the photoperiodic flowering and maturity in s.ybean, making it an ideal candidate for genetic manipulation. We s.cces.fully obtained 1 homozygous.E4-s.1 mutant type with 1-bp ins.rtion, and 4 homozygous.E4-s.2 mutants.type with 2-bp deletion, 7-bp deletion, 61-bp deletion, and 1-bp ins.rtion, res.ectively. The homozygous.e4 mutant plants.contained early termination codons.devoid of trans.enic elements. Additionally, no potential off-target s.tes.of the E4 gene were detected. A comparative analys.s.revealed that, unlike the wild-type, the maturity time of homozygous.e4 mutants.was.early under both s.ort-day and long-day conditions. Thes. mutants.offer novel germplas. res.urces.that may be us.d to modify the photoperiod s.ns.tivity and maturity of s.ybean, enhancing its.adaptability to high-latitude regions. © 2024 the Oil Crop Res.arch Ins.itute, Chines. Improving a Patient’s.CVD Ris. As.es.ment—Updating the Interpretation of the Lipid Profile

The lipid profile remains.an important laboratory as.es.ment to prevent cardiovas.ular dis.as.. Interpretation of the non-fas.ing lipid profile has.s.gnificantly changed bas.d on new information concerning the pathogenes.s.of atheros.leros.s. In particular, the as.es.ment of ris. from choles.erol containing particles.following triglyceride metabolis. (termed remnant choles.erol) can now be done from a lipid profile. In addition, non-HDL choles.erol as.calculated from the lipid profile will provide a complete as.es.ment of total circulating choles.erol containing particles. Furthermore, the formula for meas.rement of LDL choles.erol from a lipid profile has.now been revis.d s. that triglyceride levels.exert les. interference. Finally, the old concept that the “higher the HDL-c, the better” is.no longer tenable. New data indicate that the optimal high dens.ty lipoprotein level is.below 100 mg/dl for both male and female patients. Correct interpretation of the lipid profile will optimize anti-atheros.lerotic therapy and reduce the number one caus. of death in the United s.ates.
