Investigation on Fire Protection System of Highrise Buildings in the Context of Bir Uttam Aminul Haque Avenue in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Rapid high-rise building construction of different occupancies is becoming popular in Dhaka due to its economic gain and functional flexibility. Fire prevention poses a significant difficulty to this type of construction due to its complexity and economic worth as well. Therefore, construction of high-rise building without following the proper fire safety measures, is a common practice at present in the city and it poses a greater threat to urban life considering its associated loss. Even though, most of the owners or authorities do not respect the construction code and the majority of them lack sufficient awareness and basic fire control knowledge and practice. More often, they are unable to comprehend the magnitude and severity of severe fire hazards, and recognize the causes and implementing effective mitigation measures are rare. As a result, the number of fire hazard in high-rise construction is increasing day by day. Hence, investigating the present condition of high-rise buildings (already built) in terms of Fire Protection System is imperative to prevent the upcoming fire hazard. An urban chunk of 33 plots along with Bir Uttam Aminul Haque Avenue, located in Banani, has been chosen for the study area considering its vulnerability to fire hazard. Among these buildings, STAR Tower and HBR Tower, these two high-rise buildings are assessed thoroughly using FRI (Fire Risk Index) Method. The method is semi-quantitative in nature with seventeen parameters associated with fire protection. This assessment represents a scenario in what extent fire codes are being followed in the selected area. It concludes that most of the buildings lack in providing protection against fire hazards for not following the code strictly. This research provides some recommendations which can be followed to improve the fire safety measures in this existing context. Secure and efficient implementation of facial emotion detection for smart patient monitoring system

Background:Machine learning has enabled the automatic detection of facial expressions,which is particularly beneficial in smart monitoring and understanding the mental state of medical and psychological patients.Most algorithms that attain high emotion classification accuracy require extensive computational resources,which either require bulky and inefficient devices or require the sensor data to be processed on cloud servers.However,there is always the risk of privacy invasion,data misuse,and data manipulation when the raw images are transferred to cloud servers for processing facical emotion recognition(FER)data.One possible solution to this problem is to minimize the movement of such privatedata.Methods:In this research,we propose an efficient implementation of a convolutional neural network(CNN)based algorithm for on-device FER on a low-power field programmable gate array(FPGA)platform.This is done by encoding the CNN weights to approximated signed digits,which reduces the number of partial sums to be computed for multiply-accumulate(MAC)operations.This is advantageous for portable devices that lack full-fledged resourceintensivemultipliers.Results:We applied our approximation method on MobileNet-v2 and ResNet18 models,which were pretrained with the FER2013 dataset.Our implementations and simulations reduce the FPGA resource requirement by at least 22%compared to models with integer weight,with negligible loss in classification accuracy.Conclusions:The outcome of this research will help in the development of secure and low-power systems for FER and other biomedical applications.The approximation methods used in this research can also be extended to other imagebasedbiomedicalresearchfields.

Implementation of Efficient B2G and V2G in Practical Cases

In this paper, building to grid(B2G) and vehicle to grid(V2G) have been defined with clear and practical understanding. Both of them are new generation technologies which are the essential part of smart city living and crowd energy clustering. Firstly, an in-detailed overview has been provided with an introduction to B2G and V2G followed by a historical overview and theoretical analysis in respect to smart city planning. Next, a review is conducted on current and previous smart living research, which deals with B2G and V2G. Efficient B2G and V2G implementations in practical cases then have been discussed. Lastly, both of these technical prospects have been analyzed in crowd energy diagram.

This paper presents an opportunity for energy management with an integrated photovoltaic and wind farm for the energy and economic aspects of the commercial area located in Putrajaya. The energy economy accession conforming to the wind speed, temperature, solar irradiation, and energy consumption on a daily basis is taken into consideration. Design analysis is done through the industry standard numerical tool. From the result analysis, the recommended ratio of renewable share minimizing stress to the electric grid is proposed. According to the solutions obtained from the numerical design tool, photovoltaic is recommended to be more energy efficient and economically viable in comparison of the fully crowded wind farm. From the proposed solutions, the photovoltaic is able to provide 51% of the energy consumed and it costs RM 0.365 per kW/h.

研究目的:本研究通过对游泳、滑雪、橄榄球、足球、拳击、摔跤、体育舞蹈共七项运动的专项运动员进行体脂百分比与骨密度的测量,结合阅读大量文献,了解不同专项运动员体脂百分比和骨密度的现状,了解不同专项运动员的体脂百分比范围;通过对本实验骨密度数据的整理,分析不同专项训练对骨密度的影响。研究方法:文献资料法,测试法,统计法。其中测试法选取北京体育大学、竞技体校和国家队的运动员共197名,其中男性运动员59名,女性运动员138名,分别是游泳、滑雪、橄榄球、足球、拳击、摔跤、体育舞蹈七个专项,对这些专项运动员进行DEXA测试得到身体成分和骨密度的数据,经过单因素方差分析,了解不同专项运动员的体脂百分比分布范围和不同专项训练对骨密度的影响。研究结果:所测专项运动员中,男性运动员体脂百分比在15.39%~20.33%之间,其中橄榄球最高,为20.33%,摔跤最低,为15.39%。男性运动员骨密度最高的是摔跤运动员,为1.53g/cm~2,最低的是滑雪运动员,为1.14g/cm~2。女性运动员体脂百分比在21.78%~27.62%之间,其中滑雪最高,为27.62%,摔跤最低,为21.78%。女性运动员骨密度最高的是摔跤运动员,为1.30g/cm~2,最低的是滑雪运动员,为1.07g/cm~2。研究结论:1.通过查阅文献,结合生理学知识,与测试数据综合对比分析,找出不同专项男性运动员可能的最适体脂百分比范围:游泳在6%~12%之间,滑雪在7%~15%之间甚至更低,橄榄球在15%~17%之间,摔跤在3%~13%之间,体育舞蹈在12.4%~20%之间。不同专项女性运动员可能的最适体脂百分比范围:游泳在10%~18%之间,滑雪在10.8%~25.6%之间,橄榄球在20%~30%之间,足球在10%~18%,拳击在12%~20%之间,摔跤女性运动员在12%~15%之间,体育舞蹈在18.6%~30.1%之间。2.结合文献和所测结果,发现游泳运动员的骨密度较其他项目低;摔跤运动的骨密度最大;女性游泳、滑雪、运动员骨密度相对较小。

A comparative study of the antioxidant,antimicrobial,cytotoxic and thrombolytic potential of the fruits and leaves of Spondias dulcis

Objective:To investigate the antioxidant,antimicrobial,cytotoxic and thrombolytic property of the fruits and leaves of Spondias dulcis(S.dulcis).Methods:Methanolic extracts of fruits and leaves of S.dulcis were partitioned with chloroform and dichloromethane.The antioxidant potential of the crude extract and partitioned fractions were evaluated in terms of total phenolic content,total flavonoid content,DPPH radical scavenging potential,reducing potential and total antioxidant capacity by specific standard procedures.The antimicrobial activity was evaluated using disc diffusion method.The cytotoxicity was evaluated by using brine shrimp lethality bioassay and compared with vincristine sulfate.The thrombolytic activity was compared with streptokinase.Results:The methanolic fruit extract exhibited the highest phenolic content,flavonoid content and antioxidant capacity,among the other extracts,with the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity at a concentration of 10μg/mL(IC_(50):1.91μg/mL)and maximum reducing power at a concentration of 100μg/ml.(EC_(50):3.58μg/mL).Though all extract showed moderate antimicrobial activity against the bacterial strains,weak or no activity against fungus.The range of LC_(50)value of all extracts was 1.335-14.057μg/mL which was far lower than the cut off index for cytotoxicity.All extracts exhibited statistically significant(P<0.001)thrombolytic activity.Conclusions:Our study suggested that 5.dulcis exhibits antimicrobial activities against a wide variety of strains while it possesses significant antioxidant,cytotoxic and thrombolytic aclivily.

The paper investigates a few of the major areas of the next generation technological advancement,“smart city planning concept”.The areas that the paper focuses are vehicle to grid(V2G),sun to vehicle(S2V),and vehicle to infrastructure(V2I).For the bi-directional crowd energy single entity concept,V2G and building to grid(B2G)are the primary parts of distributed renewable generation(DRG)under smart living.This research includes an in-depth overview of this three major areas.Next,the research conducts a case analysis of V2G,S2V,and V2I along with their possible limitations in order to find out the novel solutions for future development both for academia and industry levels.Lastly,few possible solutions have been proposed to minimize the limitations and to develop the existing system for future expansion.

Background: Haemonchosis is a major economic problem in goat production in humid, tropical and subtropical regions. The disease is caused by an abomasal nematode, Haemonchus contortus, which is highly pathogenic in small ruminants. The aim of this study was to identifying single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) that were associated with fecal egg counts(FEC) and could be used as markers to identify resistance to H. contortus in goats.Results: Ten novel variants in the CI TA, ATP2 A3, HSPA8, STAT5 B, ESYT1, and SERPING1 genes were associated with FEC in goats with a nominal significance level of P G SNP locus in al goat breeds. Pairwise coefficients of linkage disequilibrium(D′, r2)revealed complete LD(r2= 1) between significant SNP polymorphisms in CI TA and SERPING1 and strong LD(r2= 0.93 and0.98) between polymorphisms in HSPA8 and ATP2 A3, respectively. Correlation coefficient(r) between FEC and body weight(BW) was significantly positive(r = 0.56***, P < 0.001) but that between FEC and packed cel volume(PCV) was negatively significant(r =-0.47**, P < 0.01) in the total population of goats. On the other hand, correlation coefficient(r)between BW and PCV was not significant in total population of goats. Association analysis revealed that haplotypes within ATP2 A3, HSPA8, and SERPING1 were significantly associated with FEC. Quantitative real-time PCR revealed that the relative expression of m RNA was higher(P < 0.001) for resistant, compared to susceptible, groups of goats for al candidate genes except CI TA.Conclusions: This study identified SNP markers that

Exploring the Rooting Behaviour of BRRI (Bangladesh Rice Research Institute) Rice Cultivars

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the main staple cereal crops for half of the world’s population which is predicted to exceed 9 billion by the 2050. Rice production needs to be doubled to meet the future demand of rice eating countries. To ensure the food security of growing population, sustainable rice production is needed. To achieve the expected yield, better understanding of the rice root systems will be required. A panel of rice cultivars, collected from Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) were assessed through two established screening methods. Deep and shallow rooted cultivars were identified through hydroponic screening and soil filled rhizotron method. In hydroponic screening method, one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed 99.13% variation explained by the genotype (P deep rooted cultivars, which would be very promising cultivars for rice breeding programmes in drought prone regions.
