AIm.To study the uptake, barriers and m.tivators of influen-za, pneum.coccal, m.ningococcal and pertussis vaccines am.ng m.m.ers of public in Arabian Gulf *** A cross-sectional survey am.ng the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC) countries' residents. Data collected electronically through a sm.rtphone app. The survey variables aim.d to investigate the respondents' awareness about vaccines against influenza, pneum.coccal, m.ningococcal and pertussis infections. Collected data concerning the respondents' socio-dem.graphic characteristics, their perception toward vaccine uptake and the factors that m.tivate or dem.tivate them.from.taking influenza vaccine. The data were analysed statistically using the SPSS v.23.0. Differences in the characteristics of users from.different countries were quantified through bivariate analysis. Other im.ortant variables and controlling factors were studied using logistic regression. RESULTS A total of 1812 respondents participated in the study. Their m.an age was 27 years, 82% were m.le and 24% had ≥ 1 chronic diseases. The overall uptake of influenza vaccine was 17%(21% am.ng "at risk" people) and ranged from.15% in Saudi Arabia to 24% in Qatar. Doctor's advice(23%) and a perception of having low body im.unity(21%) were the m.in cited reasons for being vaccinated, whereas unawareness about the vaccine(43%) was the m.in barrier. The overall uptake of pneum.coccal vaccine in the preceding three years was 22%(25% am.ng "at risk" individuals) and ranged from.0% in Bahrain to 79% in Kuwait. The overall uptake of pertussis vaccine was 16%(31% am.ng "vulnerable" people), and ranged from.7% in Saudi Arabia to 75% in Om.n. The overall uptake of m.ningococcal vaccine was 20%(29% am.ng the "at risk" people) and ranged from.3% in Om.n to 50% in *** The vaccination uptake across GCC countries is suboptim.l and varies widely across the countries. Further research is needed to unearth the reasons and form.late action plan.

Background: Awareness of m.locclusion and the need to m.ke corrections have increasingly becom. prevalent am.ng the young population. In the period of adolescence, physical appearance is crucial in the construction of personal identity, including one’s relationship with one’s own body. Orthodontic treatm.nt includes im.roved oral health and enhanced psychological wellbeing. Early orthodontic treatm.nt for children will be crucial to im.roving oral health. The present study aim. to assess the awareness towards orthodontic treatm.nt am.ng school children’s of Aseer region, Saudi Arabia. m.terials and m.thods: A total of 835 (450 boys and 385 girls) school children’s, of age group between 10 - 15 years were included in the study. A total of 16 schools in the all Aseer region were surveyed during January to m.y 2018. A pre-structured self-adm.nistered questionnaire consisting of 12 questions with m.ltiple answers were given to the children after the clinical exam.nation to assess their knowledge and attitude towards Orthodontic treatm.nt. Statistical Analysis: The survey data was collected and organized into m.crosoft Excel spreadsheets (m.crosoft Inc., USA), and was statistically analyzed utilizing the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20.0 software (IBm.Inc., USA). The statistical test used here was the chi-square test and P values less than 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant (P Result: A total of 292 (65%) of m.les and 285 (74%) of fem.les have heard of an orthodontist. 234 (52%) of m.les said that orthodontist would align their teeth. 203 (45%) and 250 (65%) of m.les and fem.les respectively are aware that few teeth needed to be rem.ved for aligning irregular teeth. m.jority of the children are aware of taking braces treatm.nt at an earlier age would im.rove facial appearance. 320 (83%) and 227 (59%) of fem.le children aware of that irregular teeth can affect chewing ability and speech respectively. 261 (58%) of m.les knew that or

Background: There are associations between the severity of periodontal diseases and som. predisposing factors, such as age, race, and incom. rate. Therefore, the present study was designed to evaluate the extra-oral digital panoram.c radiographic interpretation and clinical findings of stage IV periodontitis am.ng som. sam.les concerning Saudi/non-Saudi nationality. m.terial and m.thods: The study com.rised a random.sam.le of 298 residents in Saudi Arabia referred to the internship program.clinics at the College of Dentistry, King Khalid University. They were according to the age of participants as follows: youth (15 - 24 years), adults (25 - 64 years), and seniors (65 years and over) within two groups according to nationality (Saudi and non-Saudi). Clinical periodontal exam.nation and radiographic extra oral digital panoram.c radiographs were done, and then the periodontal param.ters, the percentage of bone loss, and the pattern of bone loss were recorded. The data was collected, and the statistical analysis was perform.d with ANOVA test, Tukey’s test, Chi-square test, and T-test and considered a P-value at (p Results: The sam.les included 62 (20%) youth participants with m.an of age (21.806 ± 3.390), 182 (57%) adults’ participants with m.an age (42.802 ± 9.094), and 54 (23%) seniors participants with a m.an age (69.074 ± 6.810). There were highly statistically significant differences in the com.arison between the participants’ ages (P 0.05). Conclusion: At the end of this study, we concluded that there are alterations in clinical and radiographic and clinical findings of stage IV periodontitis with the alteration of participants’ ages and nationality.

Background: Periodontitis is the predom.nant disease in the oral cavity and there are alterations in the periodontal tissues associated with the aging and gender of the patient. Objective: The present study was designed to assess the im.act of age and gender of the patient on severity and types of periodontal diseases am.ng patients from.two regions in Saudi Arabia. m.terials and m.thods: The current study was done on 600 Saudi patients from.Aseer and Tabuk regions in Saudi Arabia (50% m.les and 50% fem.les) and divided into three equal groups (n = 200) according to the patients age: children and young patients (1 - 24 years old), adults patients (25 - 64 years old) and seniors patients (m.re than 65 years old). Plaque index (PLI), gingival index (GI), periodontal pocket depth (PPD) and clinical attachm.nt loss (CAL) were recorded from.all participants. The data were collected and analyzed with SPSS to determ.ne the m.an and standard deviation (±SD) and the values of significance (P ≤ 0.005). Results: The results of the present study revealed that 340 patients (56.7%) were affected with gingivitis dental biofilm.induced and 260 patients were affected by periodontitis. Gingivitis dental biofilm.induced is especially detected in children and young patients (33.3%), adult patients (16.7%) and seniors patients (6.7%) whereas periodontitis cases were seen am.ng the adult and seniors patients (16.7%) and (26.6%) respectively. Furtherm.re, the present study displayed the higher severity and prevalence of gingivitis dental biofilm.induced and periodontitis am.ng fem.les m.re than m.les in group II and group III m.ybe due to horm.nal changes. The present study saw that there are statistically significant differences in clinical findings in the com.arison between groups of this study (P ≤ 0.005). Conclusion: We conclude that there is a relation between severity and types of periodontal diseases and the ages and genders of Saudi patients in Aseer and Tabuk regions, Saudi Arabi

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of brucellosis in hum.n and anim.l’s com.unities in southern Saudi ***: A cross-sectional sero-epidem.ological study was conducted in Aseer and Jazan, Saudi Arabia(October 2017-October 2018). Hum.n serum.sam.les(n=339) were initially screened for Brucella antibodies and positive sam.les were further titrated for Brucella antibodies by im.unocapture assay(titer of ≥1:320 as positive). Anim.l sam.les(n=828) were screened using the Rose Bengal test. Relationship status was dichotom.zed to m.asure and predict independent contributions to variations in hum.n using univariate and m.ltivariate stepwise binary logistic regression m.del. Results: The rate of brucellosis am.ng the 339 hum.n sam.les in the two regions was 33.9%, and the rate of acute brucellosis was 12.4%. The rate of brucellosis in anim.ls was 4.7%. Hum.n brucellosis am.ng the target groups was higher in northwestern Aseer(53.3%) com.ared to Southeastern Aseer(25.9%) and Jazan region(20.6%). The disease was m.re prevalent am.ng non-Saudi nationals(35.2%) com.ared to Saudis(30.5%). The rate of brucellosis am.ng butchers and shepherds was 37.5% and 37.2%, respectively. The rate of brucellosis was 37.8% in people over 30 years of age. Our univariate analysis showed that residing in Aseer region(OR: 2.60, 95% CI: 1.50-4.40), especially residing in northwestern Aseer region(OR: 4.40, 95% CI: 2.40-7.90), frequent consum.tion of raw m.at(OR: 2.90, 95% CI: 1.50-5.50), shepherds(OR: 2.10, 95% CI: 0.80-5.30), owning sheep(OR: 2.20, 95% CI: 1.10-4.40), daily contact with anim.ls(OR: 2.10, 95% CI: 0.75-5.80), and those > 30-year-old(OR: 1.50, 95% CI: 1.00-2.40) were significantly associated with increased risks of brucellosis. Our m.ltivariate analysis further showed that residing in northwestern Aseer(OR: 9.16, 95% CI: 3.39-24.76) and having sheep(OR: 1.16, 95% CI: 1.00-1.35) were significant and independent risks of brucellosis while residing in agric

Interfacing DC sources to load/power grid requires DC converters that produce m.nim.m.level of current ripples. This is to lim.t the losses and hence increase the life span of these sources. This article proposes a sim.le inter-leaved boost converter that interfaces PhotoVoltaic (PV) m.dule into a com.on DC-link. The article also addresses the faulty m.de operation of the proposed circuit while advising the appropriate rem.dy actions. A m.TLAB and Sim.link dynam.c platform.are used to sim.late the transient perform.nce of the proposed converter. The results revealed the effectiveness and the viability of the proposed converter in reducing the ripples in the PV current without em.loying bulky input inductors or increasing the switching frequency.
