Geochemistry of the Aptian bituminous limestones in Gümuü?hane area,Eastern Black Sea region:new insight into paleogeography and paleoclimate conditions

Aptian is cha.a.terized by widespread deposition of organic-rich *** Aptian bitumen limestone horizon,which is thin decimetre-thick sequences,locally crops out in the Kircaova.a.ea,Eastern Black Sea Region(Eastern Pontides).They are well correlated with Aptian bitumen limestone in the other Tethys *** are proposed as episodes of increased organic ***,background factors controlling organic matter enrichment are poorly *** this study,we present new inorganic geochemistry,including trace elements,rare earth elements(REE),redox-sensitive elements(RSE),stable-isotopes(δ~(18)O andδ~(13)C),and total organic carbon(TOC).We integrated new geochemical da.a.with existing stratigraphy,paleontology,and organic chemistry da.a.to provide new insight into the depositional environment and paleoclimate conditions during *** lacustrine bitumen limestone(LBL)samples have variedδ~(13)C(ave.-1.45‰)andδ~(18)O(ave.-4.50‰).They possess distinct REE patterns,with an average of REE(ave.14.45 ppm)and Y/Ho(ave.35)*** addition,they have variable Nd/YbN(0.28-0.81;ave.0.56)and Ce/Ce*(0.68-0.97;ave.0.86),and relatively high Eu^(*)/Eu(1.23-1.53;ave.1.35).They display sea.a.er signatures with reduced oxygen *** enrichment in RSE(Mo,Cu,Ni,and Zn)and the low Mo/TOC(0.70-3.69;ave.2.41)support a certain degree of water *** high Sr/Ba,Sr/Cu,Ga/Rb,and K/Al records of the LBL facies suggest hot house climatic *** sedimentary environment was probably an isolated basin that is transformed from the marine *** addition to depositional conditions,the regional pa.a.eters such as the climate,increased run-off period,nutrient levels,alkalinity level,and dominant carbonate producers favored the enrichment in organic matter of LBL ***,extreme greenhouse pa.a.oclimate conditions have an important role in organic matter enrichment in the isolated *** results are conformable with the published da.a.from marine,semi-restrict

Occupant friendly seismic retrofit by concrete plates

An innovative occupant friendly retrofitting technique has been developed for reinforced concrete(RC) building structures with hollow brick infill walls used as partition walls which constitute the major portion of the existing building stock in Turkey. The idea is to convert the existing hollow brick infill wall into a load carrying system acting as a cast-in-place RC wall by reinforcing it with relatively thin concrete plates bonded to the mortar coated infill wall by use of tile adhesive and fixed by 6(6 mm diameter) bolts. Test pa.a.eters were the shape and thickness of the plates, presence of reinforcement in plates, number and arrangement of 6 bolts. It was observed that lateral strength, stiffness, energy dissipation ca.a.ity, and ductility of the strengthened infill walls were improved and behaviour was enhanced by the proposed technique. Plates with two different basic shapes were used to strengthen the test specimens.

Anodization of titanium alloys for orthopedic applications

In recent years, nanostructured oxide films on titanium alloy surfaces have gained significant interest due to their electrical, ca.a.ytic and biological properties. In literature, there is variety of different approaches to fabricate nanostructured oxide films. Among these methods, anodization technique, which allows fine-tuning of oxide film thickness, feature size, topography and chemistry, is one of the most popular approaches to fabricate nanostructured oxide films on titanium alloys, and it has been widely investigated for orthopedic applications. Briefly, anodization is the growth of a controlled oxide film on a metallic component attached to the anode of an electrochemical cell. This review provides an overview of the anodization technique to grow nanostmctured oxide films on titanium and titanium alloys and summarizes the interactions between anodized titanium alloy surfaces with cells in terms of cellular adhesion, proliferation and differentiation. It will start with summarizing the mechanism of nanofeatured oxide fabrication on titanium alloys and then switch its focus on the latest findings for anodization of titanium alloys, including the use of fluoride free electrolytes and anodization of 3D titanium foams. The review will also highlight areas requiring further research to successfully translate anodized titanium alloys to clinics for orthopedic applications.

Effect of Annealing on Microstructure and Microhardness of Co-Fe-Ni-Ta-B-Si Bulk Metallic Glass

Effects of annealing temperature and time on microstructure and microhardness of Co41Ni2Fe20Ta5.5B26.5Si5 amorphous alloy have been investigated. Microhardness of the as-cast alloy is found to be 1170 HV. The maximum microhardness,1798 HV,is achieved after annealing the amorphous alloy at 1250 K for 10 *** of the microstructure reveals that(Co,Fe)2B,(Co,Fe)21Ta2B6 and(Co,Fe)16Ta6Si7 phases precipitate in the matrix after annealing. Intrinsic hardness and Hall-Petch coefficients of the precipitates indicate that high hardness values result from precipitation of(Co,Fe)2B and(Co,Fe)21Ta2B6 phases. It is also observed that increasing the annealing time results in the decrease in microhardness values because of the increase in particle sizes of the precipitates.

The gut-liver axis plays a crucial role in the development and progression of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD).Key metabolites,including lipopolysaccharides,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),bile acids,and beneficial gut bacteria such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus,are pivotal in this ***-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1 RAs)show promise in ma.a.ing MASLD by promoting weight loss,enhancing insulin secretion,and improving liver *** restore gut-liver axis functionality,and their effects are amplified through dietary modifications and gut microbiometargeted *** research highlights the interplay between GLP-1 RAs and gut microbiota,indicating that the gut microbiome significantly influences therapeutic *** produced by gut bacteria,can stimulate glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)secretion,further improving metabolic *** dietary interventions with GLP-1 RA treatment may enhance liver health by modulating the gut microbiota-SCFAs-GLP-1 *** research is needed to understand personalized effects,with prebiotics and probiotics offering treatment avenues for MASLD.

This study focused on creating a sustainable composite material using blast furnace dust of the iron-steel industry and plastic wastes of the plastic industry in order to reduce the embodied energy of the material and generate more sustainable *** this study,varying amounts of blast furnace dust(BFD),which is the primary iron-steel industry waste and which is used as filler for recycled low-density polyethylene(LDPE),was mixed to create the composite *** embodied energy,emissions to water and air(volatile organic compounds)of BFD filled LDPE composites were *** was found that the composite materials had less embodied energy compared with polymer-based flooring materials such as epoxy,polyurethane(PU)and polyvinylchloride(PVC).In addition,it was determined that the composite material did not release emissions to water and have fewer total volatile organic compounds(TVOCs).These results showed that the produced composite material could be used in buildings as a sustainable floor coating material,thus saving raw materials and supporting indoor air quality and recycling.

Assessment of the consecutive harmful dinoflagellate blooms during 2015 in the Izmit Bay(the Marma.a.Sea)

A series of red tides were observed during 2015 in the Izmit Bay（the Marma.a.Sea） which is located in the most industrialized and populated region of Turkey. Six samplings were carried out in this area following the red ***-N, nitrate-N, ammonia, silica.a.d orthophosphate concentrations were a.a.yzed *** conditions were measured by CTD probe. Plankton quantification was performed using counting chambers under microscopes. Prorocentrum micans was the most abundant species, except on May 14,2015, when Noctiluca scintillans was dominant. The abundance of P. micans reached average 18×10~6 ind./L on May 3, 2015 in the Ka.a.ürsel station, simultaneously with elevated levels of NH_3 and o-PO_4^（3–）. The sample was also abundant in dead amphipods（（72±12） ind./L） that had been covered by mucilage aggregates produced by ***. The highest biomass（calculated by carbon） was recorded as（268±26.0） mg/L on May 14 in the Hereke station. Beside the anthropogenic wastewater discharges, unknown sources and resuspensions caused increases in nutrient levels. After long term northeaster gusts（35 km/h for 5 d） an upwelling occurred on November 6, 2015 after wind-induced sediment resuspension. Although nutrient discharges remarkably decreased over 30 years through established wastewater treatment plants, harmful phytoplankton blooms still occur. Comparing the present results with other studies in nearby Mediterranean seas reveals that the most intense harmful dinoflagellate bloom in recent years occurred in the Izmit Bay. Therefore, additional protection measures necessary for a cleaner Izmit Bay. These incidents also demonstrate that contaminants, accumulated in sediment,may have long-lasting effects on enclosed marine ecosystems.

Cylinder Pressure Prediction of An HCCI Engine Using Deep Learning

Engine tests are both costly and time consuming in developing a new internal combustion ***,it is of great importance to predict engine cha.a.teristics with high accuracy using artificial ***,it is possible to reduce engine testing costs and speed up the engine development *** Learning is an effective artificial intelligence method that shows high performance in many research areas through its ability to learn high-level hidden features in da.a.*** present paper describes a method to predict the cylinder pressure of a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition(HCCI)engine for various excess air coefficients by using Deep Neural Network,which is one of the Deep Learning methods and is based on the Artificial Neural Network(ANN).The Deep Learning results were compared with the ANN and experimental *** results show that the difference between experimental and the Deep Neural Network(DNN)results were less than 1%.The best results were obtained by Deep Learning *** cylinder pressure was predicted with a maximum accuracy of 97.83%of the experimental value by using *** the other hand,the accuracy value was increased up to 99.84%using *** results show that the DNN method can be used effectively to predict cylinder pressures of internal combustion engines.
