Comparative effects of rosuvastatin and atorvastatin on the risk of new-onset diabetes mellitus in patients with acute coronary syndrome receiving percutaneous coronary intervention:a retrospective cohort study

Background:Statins are frequently prescribed to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality by lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ***,the use of statins leads to an increased incidence of new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus(NODM).Our study aims to compare the effect of rosuvastatin versus atorvastatin on NODM in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)within 18 months of ***:A retrospective cohort study was conducted on patients with ACS who underwent PCI and were treated with rosuvastatin or atorvastatin between June 2012 and June *** survival functions between the 2 groups were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank test with NODM as the *** proportional hazards models were used to calculate hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)for the risk factors of ***:In total,220 patients received rosuvastatin and 168 *** cumulative incidence of NODM in the rosuvastatin group was lower but did not reach statistical significance,compared with that in the atorvastatin group(7.27%vs.12.50%,respectively;log-rank P=0.08).Using Cox proportional hazards models,baseline fasting blood glucose level was associated with a statistically significant increase in the risk of NODM(HR:4.56;95%CI:2.83–7.36;P<0.01).Conclusion:Long-term use of moderate rosuvastatin had a similar incidence of NODM compared with atorvastatin in patients with ACS receiving PCI.

Wastewater is a breeding ground for many pathogens,which may pose a threat to human health through various water transmission ***,a simple and effective method is urgently required to monitor and treat *** bacterial viruses,bacteriophages(phages)are the most widely distributed and abundant organisms in the *** to their capacity to specifically infect bacterial hosts,they have recently been used as novel tools in water pollution *** purpose of this review is to summarize and evaluate the roles of phages in monitoring pathogens,tracking pollution sources,treating pathogenic bacteria,infecting bloom-forming cyanobacteria,and controlling bulking sludge and biofilm pollution in wastewater treatment *** also discuss the limitations of phage usage in water pollution control,including phage-mediated horizontal gene transfer,the evolution of bacterial resistance,and phage concentration *** review provides an integrated outlook on the use of phages in water pollution control.

Research on the Audio Publishing of Classical Books Based on the Theory of Business Model Canvas: Taking Romance of the Three Kingdoms in Digital Audio Platforms as an Example

Visual media have dominated sensory communications for decades,and the resulting“visual hegemony”leads to the call for the“auditory return”in order to achieve a holistic balance in cultural *** of the Three Kingdoms,a classic literary work in China,has received significant attention and promotion from leading audio ***,the commercialization of digital audio publishing faces unprecedented challenges due to the mismatch between the dissemination of long-form content on digital audio platforms and the current trend of short and fast information *** on the Business Model Canvas Theory and taking Romance of the Three Kingdoms as the main focus of analysis,this paper argues that the construction of a business model for the audio publishing of classical books should start from three aspects:the user evaluation of digital audio platforms,the establishment of value propositions based on the“creative transformation and innovative development”principle,and the improvement of the audio publishing infrastructure to ensure the healthy operation and development of the digital audio platforms and consequently improve their current state of development and expand the boundaries of cultural heritage.

Satellite integrity monitoring is vital to satellite-based augmentation systems,and can provide the confdence of the diferential corrections for each monitored satellite satisfying the stringent safety-of-life *** integrity information includes the user diferential range error and the clock-ephemeris covariance which are used to deduce integrity ***,the existing direct statistic methods sufer from a low integrity bounding *** address this problem,we develop an improved covariance-based method to determine satellite integrity information and evaluate its performance in the range domain and position *** with the direct statistic method,the integrity bounding percentage is improved by 24.91%and the availability by 5.63%.Compared with the covariance-based method,the convergence rate for the user diferential range error is improved by 8.04%.The proposed method is useful for the satellite integrity monitoring of a satellite-based augmentation system.

Isoform-specific involvement of Brpf1 in expansion of adult hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells

Bromodomain-containing proteins are known readers of histone acetylation that regulate chromatin structure and *** the functions of bromodomain-containing proteins in development,homeostasis,and disease states have been well studied,their role in self-renewal of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells(HSPCs)remains poorly ***,we performed a chemical screen using nine bromodomain inhibitors and found that the bromodomain and PHD finger-containing protein 1(Brpf1)inhibitor OF-1 enhanced the expansion of Lin−Sca-1+c-Kit+HSPCs ex vivo without skewing their lineage differentiation ***,our results also revealed distinct functions of Brpf1 isoforms in ***1b promoted the expansion of *** contrast,Brpf1a is the most abundant isoform in adult HSPCs but enhanced HSPC quiescence and decreased the HSPC ***,inhibition of Brpf1a by OF-1 promoted histone acetylation and chromatin accessibility leading to increased expression of self-renewal-related genes(***1).The phenotypes produced by OF-1 treatment can be rescued by suppression of Mn1 in *** findings demonstrate that this novel bromodomain inhibitor OF-1 can promote the clinical application of HSPCs in transplantation.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary administration of L-arginine(Arg)or N-carbamylglutamate(NCG)on hepatic energy status and mitochondrial functions in suckling Hu lambs with intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).Forty-eight newborn Hu lambs of 7 d old were allocated into 4 treatment groups of 12 lambs each,in triplicate with 4 lambs per replicate(2 males and 2 females)as follows:CON(lambs of normal birth weight,4.25±0.14 kg),IUGR(3.01±0.12 kg),IUGR+1%Arg(2.99±0.13 kg),or IUGR+0.1%NCG(3.03±0.11 kg).The experiment lasted for 21 d,until d 28 after birth,and all lambs were fed milk replacer as a basal *** with IUGR lambs,NCG or Arg administration increased(P<0.05)the adenosine triphosphate(ATP)level and the activities of com-plexes I/III/IV,isocitrate dehydrogenase and citrate synthase in the *** with CON lambs,the relative mRNA levels of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinaseα1(AMPKα1),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorγcoactivator-1α(PGC1α)and transcription factor A(TFAM)were increased(P<0.05)in the liver of IUGR lambs,but were decreased(P<0.05)in the liver of NCG-or Arg-treated lambs compared with those in the IUGR *** with IUGR lambs,NCG or Arg administration decreased(P<0.05)the total AMPKα(tAMPKα)-to-phosphorylated AMPKα(pAMPKα)ratio and the protein expression of PGC1αand *** results suggested that dietary Arg or NCG supplements improved hepatic energy status and mitochondrial function and inhibited the AMPK-PGC1α-TFAM pathway in IUGR suckling lambs.

This study aimed to explore whether dietary rumen-protected L-arginine(RP-Arg)or N-carbamylglutamate(NCG)supplementation to feed-restricted pregnant ewes counteracts fetal hepatic inflammation and innate immune dysfunction associated with intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR)in ovine *** d 35 of pregnancy,twin-bearing Hu ewes(n=32)were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups(8 ewes and 16 fetuses per group)and fed diets containing 100%of the NRC requirements(CON),50%of the NRC requirements(RES),RES+RP-Arg(20 g/d)(RESA),or RES+NCG(5 g/d)(RESN).At 08:00 on d 110 of gestation,fetal blood and liver tissue samples were *** levels of triglyceride,free fatty acid,cholesterol andβ-hydroxybutyrate in the fetal blood of RESA and RESN groups were lower(P<0.05)than those of the RES group,but were higher(P<0.05)than those of the CON *** interleukin(IL)-6 and IL-1 levels in fetal blood and liver tissue as well as the myeloid differentiation primary response 88(MyD88),transforming growth factorβ(TGFβ),and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels in the fetal liver were decreased(P<0.05)by the NCG or RP-Arg supplementation compared to the RES ***,the toll-like receptor(TLR)-4,MyD88,TGFβ,and p-c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)protein levels in the fetal liver were reduced(P<0.05)in the NCG and RP-Arg-supplemented groups compared to the RES *** results showed that dietary supplementation of RP-Arg or NCG to underfed pregnant ewes could protect against IUGR fetal hepatic inflammation via improving lipid metabolism,down-regulating the TLR-4 and the inflammatory JNK and NF-icB signaling pathways,and decreasing cytokine production in ovine fetal blood and liver tissue.

Preparation of Si-doped and cross linked carbon nanofibers via electrospinning and their supercapacitive properties

In this work, Si-doped cross linked carbon nanofibers(Si/CNF) were prepared by electrospinning polyacrylonitrile(PAN) solutions containing polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS) as Si source, followed by thermal treatments. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) observations showed the smooth surfaces of pure PAN nanofibers, while PAN/POSS nanofibers with obviously rough or porous surfaces were obtained with relatively high POSS content. X-ray diffraction(XRD) identified the presence of POSS in the composite nanofibers. After thermal treatments, cross linked Si/CNFs with various morphologies were obtained. Energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) analyses confirmed the successful incorporation of Si into CNFs. Raman spectra suggested the degree of carbon ordering of Si/CNFs reduced slightly when compared with pure CNF. The obtained nanofibers exhibited typical performances of electric double-layer capacitors(EDLC).The specific capacitance of Si/CNF showed a moderate increase with POSS content and reached a maximum of175 F/g at 1 A/g with PAN:POSS equal to 100:5. Meanwhile Si/CNFs exhibited excellent cycling stability after1000 cycles. The influence of POSS on the capacitive performance might be attributed to the combined effects of evolution of morphology, conductivity and surface properties of Si/CNFs.

Background Exposure to bisphenol A(BPA),an environmental pollutant known for its endocrine-disrupting properties,during gestation has been reported to increase the risk of fetal growth restriction(FGR)in an ovine model of *** hypothesized that the FGR results from the BPA-induced insufficiency and barrier dysfunction of the placenta,oxidative stress,inflammatory responses,autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS).However,precise mechanisms underlying the BPA-induced placental dysfunction,and subsequently,FGR,as well as the potential involvement of placental ERS in these complications,remain to be *** In vivo experiment,16 twin-pregnant(from d 40 to 130 of gestation)Hu ewes were randomly distributed into two groups(8 ewes each).One group served as a control and received corn oil once a day,whereas the other group received BPA(5 mg/kg/d as a subcutaneous injection).In vitro study,ovine trophoblast cells(OTCs)were exposed to 4 treatments,6 replicates *** OTCs were treated with 400μmol/L BPA,400μmol/L BPA+0.5μg/m L tunicamycin(Tm;ERS activator),400μmol/L BPA+1μmol/L 4-phenyl butyric acid(4-PBA;ERS antagonist)and DMEM/F12 complete medium(control),for 24 *** In vivo experiments,pregnant Hu ewes receiving the BPA from 40 to 130 days of pregnancy experienced a decrease in placental efficiency,progesterone(P4)level and fetal weight,and an increase in placental estrogen(E2)level,together with barrier dysfunctions,OS,inflammatory responses,autophagy and ERS in type A *** vitro experiment,the OTCs exposed to BPA for 24 h showed an increase in the E2 level and related protein and gene expressions of autophagy,ERS,pro-apoptosis and inflammatory response,and a decrease in the P4 level and the related protein and gene expressions of antioxidant,anti-apoptosis and barrier ***,treating the OTCs with Tm aggravated BPA-induced dysfunction of barrier and endocrine(the increased E2 level and decreased P4 level),OS,inflamm
