Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have helped revolutionize the modern world and are now advancing the alternative energy field.Several technical challenges are associated with LIBs,such as increasing their energy density,improving their safety,and prolonging their lifespan.Pressed by these issues,researchers are striving to find effective solutions and new materials for next-generation LIBs.Polymers play a more and more important role in satisfying the ever-increasing requirements for LIBs.Polyimides(PIs),a special functional polymer,possess unparalleled advantages,such as excellent mechanical strength,extremely high thermal stability,and excellent chemical inertness;they are a promising material for LIBs.Herein,we discuss the current applications of PIs in LIBs,including coatings,separators,binders,solid-state polymer electrolytes,and active storage materials,to improve high-voltage performance,safety,cyclability,flexibility,and sustainability.Existing technical challenges are described,and strategies for solving current issues are proposed.Finally,potential directions for implementing PIs in LIBs are outlined.

This paper deals with dengue virus transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti.A reaction-diffusion model is proposed incorporating both human and the A.aegypti population,where we divided mosquitoes into two sub-populations:the winged population and an aquatic form,with the winged mosquito population divided into the susceptible and infected classes.The threshold Qo depending on spatial heterogeneity is introduced for the mosquito population.Moreover,we introduce the basic reproduction number Rq for the infected classes,as well as its analytical properties.Qo and Ho are utilized to investigate the stability of the mosquito-established equilibriums.Our results show that the mosquitoes persist if Qo>1,while the transmission of dengue virus depends on the condition whether Ho1.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Qingre Jianpi decoction(清热健脾汤,QRJPD)on dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis mice and explore its mechanism.METHODS:All mice were randomly divided into six groups.Weight changes,disease activity index values,and histological damage were detected.Inflammatory cytokines and immune cell infiltration were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA)and immunohistochemistry(IHC)method.The key protein expression levels of the NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3)inflammasome were detected by western blot analysis,IHC,and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS:QRJPD played an anti-inflammatory role in the treatment of ulcerative colitis(UC),reduced the secretion of inflammatory cytokines,and inhibited the inflammatory infiltration of immune cells by suppressing DSS-induced activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome.CONCLUSION:QRJPD exerts protective effects by inhibiting DSS-induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Constructing heterostructures is an important approach to develop high-performance anode materials for sodium ion batteries(SIBs).The abundant phase interfaces provide numerous defects and active sites for rapid electron/ion transport.Herein,CoSe_(2)■NC@NC/MoS_(2) heterostructures are prepared through a multi-step reaction strategy,CoSe_(2) nanoparticles served as the coating shells for MoS_(2) cores are anchored in carbon frameworks.The core–shell structure effectively buffers the double volume expansion and inhibits the dissolution of MoS_(2) and CoSe_(2) in the electrolyte.AsSIBs anodes,the heterostructure delivers a high reversible capacity of 481.6 m Ah g^(-1) at 0.5 A g^(-1) after 100 cycles,superior rate capability(174.5 m Ah g^(-1) at 20.0 A g^(-1)),excellent long-term cycle performance(333.4 m Ah g^(-1) after 2000 cycles at 5.0 A g^(-1)).The DFT calculation proves that the electronic distribution of heterostructures is reconstructed with enhanced conductivity.The kinetic analysis,mechanism characterizations and full-cells tests exhibit the synergistic reaction mechanism among different components and practical application prospects.The heterostructure also shows more rapid ions diffusion kinetics than single components.

Myocardial infarction(MI),as one of the leading causes of global death,urgently needs effective therapies.Recently,hydrogen sulfide(H2S)has been regarded as a promising therapeutic agent for MI,while its spatiotemporally controlled delivery remains a major issue limiting clinical translation.To address this limitation,we designed and synthesized a novel H2S donor(HSD-R)that can produce H2S and emit fluorescence in response to reactive oxygen species(ROS)highly expressed at diseased sites.HSD-R can specifically target mitochondria and provide red fluorescence to visualize and quantify H2S release in vitro and in vivo.Therapeutically,HSD-R significantly promoted the reconstruction of cardiac structure and function in a rat MI model.Mechanistically,myocardial protection is achieved by reducing cardiomyocyte apoptosis,attenuating local inflammation,and promoting angiogenesis.Furthermore,inhibition of typical pro-apoptotic genes(Bid,Apaf-1,and p53)played an important role in the anti-apoptotic effect of HSD-R to achieve cardioprotection,which were identified as new therapeutic targets of H2S against myocardial ischemia injury.This ROS-responsive,self-immolative,and fluorescent H2S donor can serve as a new theranostic agent for MI and other ischemic diseases.

The photo-aging behavior of microplastics(MPs)in natural environment has become a global concern.The ultraviolet radiation has enough energy to change the polymer structure and physicalchemical properties of MPs.Less attention has focused on the interactions of the photo-aged polar and biodegradable MPs with organic pollutants.This work investigated the structural properties of aged polar polyamide(PA)MPs and biodegradable polylactic acid(PLA)MPs exposed to ultraviolet irradiation and their adsorption behavior and mechanism for neonicotinoid insecticide imidacloprid(IMI).The results showed that the MPs had extensive changes in surface morphology and chemical properties after photo-aging.The C–N bond of PA MPs was disrupted to form more carbonyl groups.The oxygen-containing functional groups on the surface of aged PLA MPs were broken and generated relatively smaller molecules.The adsorption capacity of IMI on PA MPs decreased by 19.2%,while the adsorption capacity of IMI on PLA MPs increased by 41.2%after photo-aging.This depended on the natural structure of the MPs and their ability to absorb ultraviolet light.The electrostatic interactions,hydrogen bonds,van der Waals interactions,and polar-polar interactions were the main adsorption mechanisms of IMI on MPs.High initial solution pH and low ionic strength favored the adsorption of IMI by altering charge distribution on the MPs surface.The formation of the humic acid-IMI complexes decreased the concentration of IMI in the water phase and further decreased the adsorption on MPs.These results are enlightening for a scientific comprehension of the environmental behavior of the polar MPs.

Biogeographical barriers to gene flow are central to plant phylogeography.In East Asia,plant distribution is greatly influenced by two phylogeographic breaks,the Mekong-Salween Divide and Tanaka-Kaiyong Line,however,few studies have investigated how these barriers affect the genetic diversity of species that are distributed across both.Here we used 14 microsatellite loci and four chloroplast DNA fragments to examine genetic diversity and distribution patterns of 49 populations of Populus rotundifolia,a species that spans both the Mekong-Salween Divide and the Tanaka-Kaiyong Line in southwestern China.Demographic and migration hypotheses were tested using coalescent-based approaches.Limited historical gene flow was observed between the western and eastern groups of P.rotundifolia,but substantial flow occurred across both the Mekong-Salween Divide and Tanaka-Kaiyong Line,manifesting in clear admixture and high genetic diversity in the central group.Wind-borne pollen and seeds may have facilitated the dispersal of P.rotundifolia following prevalent northwest winds in the spring.We also found that the Hengduan Mountains,where multiple genetic barriers were detected,acted on the whole as a barrier between the western and eastern groups of P.rotundifolia.Ecological niche modeling suggested that P.rotundifolia has undergone range expansion since the last glacial maximum,and demographic reconstruction indicated an earlier population expansion around 600 Ka.The phylogeographic pattern of P.rotundifolia reflects the interplay of biological traits,wind patterns,barriers,niche differentiation,and Quaternary climate history.This study emphasizes the need for multiple lines of evidence in understanding the Quaternary evolution of plants in topographically complex areas.

Sexual dimorphism in size and shape is common in many organisms, and is a key evolutionary feature. In this study, we analyzed morphometric data of the Jilin clawed salamander Onychodactylus zhangyapingi, an endemic Chinese salamander, to examine sexual size and shape dimorphism. The morphometric data included 14 characteristics of 13 females and 11 males and was analyzed using univariate and multivariate methods. Our results showed that sexual dimorphism occurs not only in body size, but also in body shape. Males have a longer snout-vent length than females, a rarely reported pattern of male-biased sexual size dimorphism. Females have a larger space between the axilla and groin than males, while males have longer and larger tails compared to females. The sexual dimorphism in body size and shape can be explained by existing theories, but there is little data for the mating system, behavior, reproduction, or ecology of O. zhangyapingi, so further studies are required.

Aberrant activation of oncogenic signaling pathways in tumors can promote resistance to the antitumor immune response.However,single blockade of these pathways is usually ineffective because of the complex crosstalk and feedback among oncogenic signaling pathways.The enhanced toxicity of free small molecule inhibitor combinations is considered an insurmountable barrier to their clinical applications.To circumvent this issue,we rationally designed an effective tumor microenvironment-activatable prodrug nanomicelle(PNM)for cancer therapy.PNM was engineered by integrating the PI3K/m TOR inhibitor PF-04691502(PF)and the broad spectrum CDK inhibitor flavopiridol(Flav)into a single nanoplatform,which showed tumor-specific accumulation,activation and deep penetration in response to the high glutathione(GSH)tumoral microenvironment.The codelivery of PF and Flav could trigger gasdermin E(GSDME)-based immunogenic pyroptosis of tumor cells to elicit a robust antitumor immune response.Furthermore,the combination of PNM-induced immunogenic pyroptosis with antiprogrammed cell death-1(a PD-1)immunotherapy further boosted the antitumor effect and prolonged the survival time of mice.Collectively,these results indicated that the pyroptosis-induced nanoplatform codelivery of PI3K/m TOR and CDK inhibitors can reprogram the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and efficiently improve checkpoint blockade cancer immunotherapy.
