Grouping Decision Algorithm for Dynamic Terminals in Random Access Networks

This paper proposes a grouping decision algorithm for random access networks with the carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) mechanism, which can balance the traffic load and solve the hidden terminal issue. Considering the arrival characteristics of terminals and quality of service (QoS) requirements, the traffic load is evaluated based on the effective bandwidth theory. Additionally, a probability matrix of hidden terminals is constructed to take into account the dynamic nature of hidden terminal relations. In the grouping process, an income function is established with a view to the benefits of decreasing the probability of hidden terminal collisions and load balancing. Then, we introduce the grey wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm to implement the grouping decision. Simulation results demonstrate that the grouping algorithm can effectively alleviate the performance degradation and facilitate the management of network resources.

Cationic starch microparticles with integrated antibacterial and hemostatic performance

It is urgently demanded to develop biomaterials with balanced hemostatic/antibacterial ability and facile preparation methods. In this work, cationic starch microparticles(MSQP), prepared by the facile grafting of microporous starch particles(MS) with tunable quaternized polyethyleneimine, were readily constructed as promising hemostatic materials for integrated antibacterial and hemostatic performance. The cationic grafts not only endowed MSQP with good antibacterial ability, but also benefited from biocompatible MS to achieve favorable biocompatibility. Moreover, in vitro results confirmed the superior hemostatic property of MSQP2(with the medium content of cationic grafts) among three MSQP and pristine MS. After investigating the bloodmaterial interactions of MSQP/MS, the procoagulant mechanism of MSQP2 was revealed that the optimal amount of cationic grafts achieves highly balanced plasma-protein adhesion, platelet adhesion and blood coagulation system. In vivo artery-injury model further demonstrated the superior hemostatic performance of MSQP2 for potential severe hemorrhage. This work sheds light on the design of cationic polymer-based biomaterials for balanced antibacterial and hemostatic functions.

DNA of neutrophil extracellular traps promote NF-κBdependent autoimmunity via cGAS/TLR9 in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Cellular Senescence and SENEX Gene on the Peripheral CD4+CD25+ Treg Cells Enhancement in Elderly

Cellular senescence is a signal transduction process which maintained genomic stability and stopped mammalian cell growth. Furthermore, cellular senescence induces a protective response to a variety of DNA damage. However, this process is also associated with apoptosis, upregulated secretion of inflammatory cytokine, and promoted surrounding tissue damage. When cellular senescence accumulates to a certain extent, it triggers geriatric diseases, such as chronic inflammation, immune senescence-associated tumors and incontrollable infections. Cellular senescence gene SENEX, which was cloned in 2004, has been demonstrated to play a unique gatekeeper function in human endothelial cells when stress-induced pre-mature senescence and apoptosis occurr. The phenomenon that CD4+CD25+ Treg cells accumulated in the aged population has been well studied in recent years. Now Treg accumulation related to immune-pathology has attracted more interest. CD4+CD25+ Treg did not decline and age, but accumulated and suppressed immunoreaction. The enhanced Treg number and function may be associated with stress-induced premature senescence-mediated unique cellular senescence protection mechanisms, and SENEX may play a critical role in this process. In this article, we summarize the cellular senescence and SENEX gene in the accumulation and functional activity of CD4+CD25+ Treg in the elderly.

Insight into the effect of geographic location and intercropping on contamination characteristics and exposure risk of phthalate esters(PAEs) in tea plantation soils

Phthalate esters(PAEs) are an emerging pollutant due to widespread distribution in environmental mediums that have attracted widespread attention over recent years. However, there is little information about tea plantation soil PAEs. A total of 270 soil samples collected from 45 tea plantations in the major high-quality tea-producing regions of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces in China were analyzed for seven PAEs. The detection frequency of PAEs in tea plantation soil was 1.0%. DBP, DEHP, and DiBP were the main congeners in tea plantation soil. The PAEs concentrations in the upper soil were significantly higher than those in the lower soil. The concentration of tea plantation soil PAEs in Jiangsu Province was significantly lower than those in Zhejiang and Anhui provinces. Intercropping with chestnuts can effectively reduce the contamination level of PAEs in tea plantation soil. Correlation analysis, redundancy analysis, partial correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling methods further confirmed the strong direct influence of factors such as chestnut–tea intercropping, temperature, and agricultural chemicals on the variation of PAEs in tea plantation soil. The health and ecological risk assessments indicated that non-carcinogenic risk was within a safe range and that there was a high carcinogenic risk via the dietary pathway, with DBP posing the highest ecological risk.
