Ligand engineering of perovskite quantum dots for efficient and stable solar cells

Lead halide perovskite quantum dots(PQDs) have recently emerged as promising light absorbers for photovoltaic application due to their extraordinary optoelectronic properties. Surface ligands are of utmost importance for the colloidal stability and property tuning of PQDs, while their highly dynamic binding nature not only impedes further efficiency improvement of PQD-based solar cells but also induces intrinsic instability. Tremendous efforts have been made in ligand engineering with good hopes to solve such challenging issues in the past few years. In this review, we first present a fundamental understanding of the role of surface ligands in PQDs, followed by a brief discussion and classification of various ligands that have the potential for improving the electronic coupling and stability of PQD solids. We then provide a critical overview of recent advances in ligand engineering including the strategies of in-situ ligand engineering, postsynthesis/-deposition ligand-exchange, and interfacial engineering, and discuss their impacts on changing the efficiency and stability of perovskite QD solar cells(QDSCs). Finally, we give our perspectives on the future directions of ligand engineering towards more efficient and stable perovskite QDSCs.

The utilization of carbon dioxide is critical to realize the objective of "carbon peak and neutrality". Among various carbon dioxide exploitation approaches, catalytic hydrogenation of carbon dioxide is a significant method to selectively convert the CO2into methanol and other valuable chemicals. Among these products, methanol is a crucial chemical feedstock that can be utilized as a platform molecule for the synthesis of chemicals and fuels as well as a fuel for internal combustion engines and fuel cells, causing particular interest. Nowadays, Catalytic hydrogenation of carbon dioxide into methanol has shifted its focus on the creation of low-cost, environmentally friendly, and efficient catalysts. Inspired of this, we have concluded the mechanism of catalytic hydrogenation of carbon dioxide, and reviewed the research progress of multiple heterogeneous catalysts with high catalytic application prospect, especially the supported catalysts.

Enhancing SAEAs with unevaluated solutions:a case study of relation model for expensive optimization

Surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms(SAEAs) hold significant importance in resolving expensive optimization problems. Extensive efforts have been devoted to improving the efficiency of SAEAs through the development of proficient model-assisted solution selection methods, which, however, first requires generating high-quality solutions. The fundamental paradigm of evaluating a limited number of solutions in each generation within SAEAs reduces the variance of adjacent populations, thereby affecting the quality of offspring solutions. This is a frequently encountered issue yet receives little attention. To address the issue, this paper presents a framework using unevaluated solutions to enhance the efficiency of SAEAs.The surrogate model is employed to identify high-quality solutions for the direct generation of new solutions without evaluation. To ensure dependable selection, we have introduced two tailored relation models to select the optimal solution and the unevaluated population. A comprehensive experimental analysis is performed on two test suites, which showcases the superiority of the relation model over regression and classification models in the solution selection phase. Furthermore, the surrogate-selected unevaluated solutions with high potential have been shown to enhance the efficiency of the algorithm significantly.

Colloidal quantum dots(CQDs)are of interest for optoelectronic devices because of the possibility of high-throughput solution processing and the wide energy gap tunability from ultraviolet to infrared wavelengths.People may question about the upper limit on the CQD wavelength region.To date,although the CQD absorption already reaches terahertz,the practical photodetection wavelength is limited within mid-wave infrared.To figure out challenges on CQD photoresponse in longer wavelength,would reveal the ultimate property on these nanomaterials.What’s more,it motivates interest in bottom-up infrared photodetection with less than 10%cost compared with epitaxial growth semiconductor bulk.In this work,developing a re-growth method and ionic doping modification,we demonstrate photodetection up to 18μm wavelength on HgTe CQD.At liquid nitrogen temperature,the responsivity reaches 0.3 A/W and 0.13 A/W,with specific detectivity 6.6×108 Jones and 2.3×109 Jones for 18μm and 10μm CQD photoconductors,respectively.This work is a step toward answering the general question on the CQD photodetection wavelength limitation.

This paper concerns a global optimality principle for fully coupled mean-field control systems.Both the first-order and the second-order variational equations are fully coupled mean-field linear FBSDEs. A new linear relation is introduced, with which we successfully decouple the fully coupled first-order variational equations. We give a new second-order expansion of Y^(ε) that can work well in mean-field framework. Based on this result, the stochastic maximum principle is proved. The comparison with the stochastic maximum principle for controlled mean-field stochastic differential equations is supplied.

This paper experimentally studied the effect of CO_(2) opposing multiple jets on the thermoacoustic instability and NO_(x) emissions in a lean-premixed model combustor.The feasibility was verified from three variables:the CO_(2) jet flow rate,hole numbers,and hole diameters of the nozzles.Results indicate that the control effect of thermoacoustic instability and NO_x emissions show a reverse trend with the increase of open area ratio on the whole,and the optimal jet flow rate range is 1-4 L/min with CO_(2) opposing multiple jets.In this flow rate range,the amplitude and frequency of the dynamic pressure and heat release signals CH~* basically decrease as the CO_(2) flow rate increases,which avoids high-frequency and high-amplitude thermoacoustic instability.The amplitude-damped ratio of dynamic pressure and CH*can reach as high as 98.75% and 93.64% with an optimal open area ratio of 3.72%.NO_(x) emissions also decrease as the jet flow rate increases,and the maximum suppression ratio can reach 68.14%.Besides,the flame shape changes from a steep inverted "V" to a more flat "M",and the flame length will become shorter with CO_(2) opposing multiple jets.This research achieved the synchronous control of thermoacoustic instability and NO_(x) emissions,which could be a design reference for constructing a safer and cleaner combustor.

Mott insulator material,as a kind of strongly correlated electronic system with the characteristic of a drastic change in electrical conductivity,shows excellent application prospects in neuromorphological calculations and has attracted significant attention in the scientific community.Especially,computing systems based on Mott insulators can overcome the bottleneck of separated data storage and calculation in traditional artificial intelligence systems based on the von Neumann architecture,with the potential to save energy,increase operation speed,improve integration,scalability,and three-dimensionally stacked,and more suitable to neuromorphic computing than a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor.In this review,we have reviewed Mott insulator materials,methods for driving Mott insulator transformation(pressure-,voltage-,and temperature-driven approaches),and recent relevant applications in neuromorphic calculations.The results in this review provide a path for further study of the applications in neuromorphic calculations based on Mott insulator materials and the related devices.

Different from other normal modes of the Earth’s free oscillation that depend on all the six components(M_(rr),M_(tt),M_(pp),M_(rt),M_(rp),and M_(tp))of the centroid moment tensor,the amplitudes of the radial modes depend on the M_(rr)component(e.g.,scalar moment(M_(0)),dip(δ),and slip(λ))and hypocenter depth of the focal mechanism,and hence can be easily used to constrain these parameters of the focal mechanism.In this study,we use the superconducting gravimeter(SG)records after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake to analyze the radial modes_(0)S_(0)and_(1)S_(0).Based on the solutions of the focal mechanism provided by the GCMT and USGS,we can obtain the theoretical amplitudes of these two radial modes.Comparing the theoretical amplitudes with the observation amplitudes,it is found that there are obvious differences between the former and the latter,which means that the GCMT and USGS focal mechanisms cannot well represent the real focal mechanism of the 2011 event.Taking the GCMT solution as a reference and changing the depth and the three parameters of the M_(rr)moment,the scalar moment(M_(0))and the dip(δ)have significant influences,but the effects of the slip(λ)and the depth are minor.After comparisons,we provide a new constraint(M_(0)=5.8±0.09×10^(22)N·m,δ=10.1±0.08°,λ=88°,and depth=20 km)for the focal mechanism of the 2011 event.In addition,we further determine the center frequency(1.631567±2.6e^(-6)mHz)and quality factor(2046.4±50.1)of the_(1)S_(0)mode.
