Multimodal imaging diagnosis and analysis of prognostic factors in patients with adult-onset Coats disease

AIM:To describe the multimodal imaging features,treatment,and outcomes of patients diagnosed with adultonset Coats ***:This retrospective study included patients first diagnosed with Coats disease at≥18 years of age between September 2017 and September *** patients received anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)therapy(conbercept,0.5 mg)as the initial treatment,which was combined with laser photocoagulation as *** the patients underwent best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and intraocular pressure examinations,fundus color photography,spontaneous fluorescence tests,fundus fluorescein angiography,optical coherence tomography(OCT),OCT angiography,and other *** alterations and multimodal image findings in the affected eyes following treatment were compared and the prognostic factors were ***:The study included 15 patients who were aged 24-72(57.33±12.61)y at *** hypertension was the most common associated systemic condition,occurring in 13(86.7%)*** BCVA ranged from 2.0 to 5.0(4.0±1.1),which showed improvement following treatment(4.2±1.0).Multimodal imaging revealed retinal telangiectasis in 13 patients(86.7%),patchy hemorrhage in 5 patients(33.3%),and stage 2B disease(Shield’s staging criteria)in 11 patients(73.3%).OCT revealed that the baseline central macular thickness(CMT)ranged from 129 to 964μm(473.0±230.1μm),with 13 patients(86.7%)exhibiting a baseline CMT exceeding 250μ***,8 patients(53.3%)presented with an epiretinal membrane at baseline or during ***-reflective scars were observed on OCT in five patients(33.3%)with poor visual *** deteriorated in one patient who did not receive *** vision was stable in three patients who received laser treatment,whereas improvement was observed in one of two patients who received anti-VEGF therapy *** addition,8 of 9 patients(88.9%)who received laser treatment and conbercept exhibited sta

Stability assessment of tree ring growth of Pinus armandii Franch in response to climate change based on slope directions at the Lubanling in the Funiu Mountains,China

Global warming will affect growth strategies and how trees will *** compare the response of tree radial growth to climate warming in different slope directions,samples of Pinus armandii Franch were collected and treering chronologies developed on northern and western slopes from the Lubanling in the Funiu *** analyses showed that two chronologies were mainly limited by temperatures in the previous June–August and the combination of temperatures and moisture in the current May–*** difference of the climate response to slopes was small but not *** growth of the LBL01 site on the northern slope was affected by the combined maximum and minimum temperatures,while that of the LBL02 site was affected by maximum *** regards to moisture,radial growth of the trees on the north slope was influenced by the relative humidity in the current May–July,while on the western slope,it was affected by the relative humidity in the previous June–August,the current May–July and the precipitation in the current May–*** the change in climate,the effects of the main limiting factors on growth on different slopes were visible to a certain extent,but the differences in response of trees on different slopes gradually decreased,which might be caused by factors such as different slope directions and the change in diurnal temperature *** results may provide information for forest protection and ecological construction in this region,and a scientific reference for future climate reconstruction.

Clinical study on the relationship between liver cirrhosis,ascites,and hyponatremia

BACKGROUND Cirrhosis is a common liver disease,and ascites is one of the common clinical ***,the clinical manifestations of ascites combined with hyponatremia as a high-risk condition and its relationship to patient prognosis have not been fully *** To explore the clinical manifestations,prognostic factors,and relationships of ascites with hyponatremia in patients with cirrhosis to provide better diagnostic and treatment *** In this study,we retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 150 patients diagnosed with cirrhosis and ascites between 2017 and *** were divided into two groups:ascites combined with hyponatremia group and ascites *** compared the general characteristics,degree of hyponatremia,complications,treatment,and prognosis between the two *** In the study results,patients in the ascites combined with hyponatremia group showed an older average age(58.2±8.9 years),64.4%were male,and had a significantly longer hospitalization time(12.7±5.3 d).Hyponatremia was more severe in this group,with a mean serum sodium concentration of 128.5±4.3 mmol/L,which was significantly different from the ascites group of 137.6±2.1 mmol/*** with ascites and hyponatremia were more likely to develop hepatic encephalopathy(56.2%vs 39.0%),renal impairment(45.2%vs 28.6%)and infection(37.0%vs 23.4%).Regarding treatment,this group more frequently used diuretics(80.8%vs 62.3%)and salt supplements(60.3%vs 38.9%).Multiple logistic regression analysis identified older age[Odds ratio(OR)=1.06,P=0.025]and male gender(OR=1.72,P=0.020)as risk factors for hyponatremia combined with ***,patients with ascites and hyponatremia present a clear high-risk status,accompanied by severe complications and poor *** In patients with cirrhosis,ascites with hyponatremia is a high-risk condition that is often associated with severe complications.

Accidents in engineered systems are usually generated by complex socio-technical *** is beneficial to investigate the increasing complexity and coupling of these factors from the perspective of system *** on system and control theories,System-Theoretic Accident Model and Processes(STAMP)is a widely recognized approach for accident *** this paper,we propose a STAMP-Game model to analyze accidents in oil and gas storage and transportation *** in accident analysis by STAMP can be regarded as players of a *** theory can,thus,be adopted in accident analysis to depict the competition and cooperation between ***,we established a game model to study the strategies of both supervisory and supervised *** obtained results demonstrate that the proposed game model allows for identifying the effectiveness deficiency of the supervisory entity,and the safety and protection altitudes of the supervised *** STAMP-Game model can generate quantitative parameters for supporting the behavior and strategy selections of the supervisory and supervised *** quantitative data obtained can be used to guide the safety improvement,to reduce the costs of safety regulation violation and accident risk.

The gut microbiota is recognized as an endocrine organ with the capacity to influence distant organs and associated biological *** advan-cements underscore the critical role of gut microbial homeostasis in female health;with dysbiosis potentially leading to diseases among women such as polycystic ovarian syndrome,endometriosis,breast cancer,cervical cancer,and ovarian cancer *** this,there has been limited discussion on the underlying *** editorial explores the three potential mechanisms through which gut microbiota dysbiosis may impact the development of diseases among women,namely,the immune system,the gut microbiota-estrogen axis,and the metabolite *** focused on approaches for treating diseases in women by addressing gut microbiota imbalances through probiotics,prebiotics supple-mentation,and fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT).Future studies should focus on determining the molecular mechanisms underlying associations between dysbiosis of gut microbiota and female diseases to realize precision medicine,with FMT emerging as a promising intervention.

Abstract The development of physically crosslinked hydrogels with excellent mechanical and sensing properties is of importance for expanding the practical applications of intelligent soft hydrogel ***,after copolymerization of hydroxyl-containing amino acid derivative N-acryloyl serine(ASer)with acrylamide(AM),we introduce Zr4+through an immersion strategy to construct metal ion-toughened non-covalent crosslinked hydrogels(with tensile strength of up to 5.73 MPa).It is found that the synergistic coordination of hydroxyl and carboxyl groups with Zr^(4+)substantially increases the crosslinking density of the hydrogels,thereby imparting markedly superior mechanical properties compared to hydroxyl-free Zr^(4+)-crosslinked hydrogels,such as N-acryloyl alanine(AAla)copolymerized with AM hydrogels(with tensile strength of 2.98 MPa)Through the adjustment of the composition of the copolymer and the density of coordination bonds,the mechanical properties of the hydrogels can be modulated over a wide ***,due to the introduction of metal ions and the dynamic nature of coordination bonds,the hydrogels also exhibit excellent sensing performance and good self-recovery properties,paving the way for the development of flexible electronic substrates with outstanding comprehensive performances.

Tailoring electron transfer with Ce integration in ultrathin Co(OH)_(2) nanosheets by fast microwave for oxygen evolution reaction

The intrinsic activity of Co(OH)_(2) for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)may be elaborately improved through the suitable valence *** modification at electronic level is proved to be an efficient strategy owing to the flexible transformation of Ce^(3+)/Ce4+.Herein,Ce0.21@Co(OH)_(2) with the optimized Ce doping have been fabricated to tailor the fast electron transfer for the enhanced activity and stability for ***,the obtained core-shell structure composed of vertical loose Co(OH)_(2) sheets not only exposes a large number of active sites,but also provides channels for Ce ***,the high pressure microwave with instantaneous heating can fast introduce Ce into Co(OH)_(2),obtaining Cex@Co(OH)_(2) with well dispersion and close *** intimated interaction between Ce and Co species may provide the"d-f electronic ladders"for accelerating electron transfer of the catalytic ***,Ce promotes the formation of Co-superoxide intermediate and/or the release of oxygen,which is considered to be the rate-determining step for *** electrochemical measurements confirmed the low overpotential of 300 m V at 10 m A cm^(-2) and great stability of Ce0.21@Co(OH)_(2) for *** work demonstrates a meaningful approach to realize the tuned electronic structure through metal doping.

A multiscale adaptive framework based on convolutional neural network: Application to fluid catalytic cracking product yield prediction

Since chemical processes are highly non-linear and multiscale, it is vital to deeply mine the multiscale coupling relationships embedded in the massive process data for the prediction and anomaly tracing of crucial process parameters and production indicators. While the integrated method of adaptive signal decomposition combined with time series models could effectively predict process variables, it does have limitations in capturing the high-frequency detail of the operation state when applied to complex chemical processes. In light of this, a novel Multiscale Multi-radius Multi-step Convolutional Neural Network(Msrt Net) is proposed for mining spatiotemporal multiscale information. First, the industrial data from the Fluid Catalytic Cracking(FCC) process decomposition using Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise(CEEMDAN) extract the multi-energy scale information of the feature subset. Then, convolution kernels with varying stride and padding structures are established to decouple the long-period operation process information encapsulated within the multi-energy scale data. Finally, a reconciliation network is trained to reconstruct the multiscale prediction results and obtain the final output. Msrt Net is initially assessed for its capability to untangle the spatiotemporal multiscale relationships among variables in the Tennessee Eastman Process(TEP). Subsequently, the performance of Msrt Net is evaluated in predicting product yield for a 2.80 × 10～6 t/a FCC unit, taking diesel and gasoline yield as examples. In conclusion, Msrt Net can decouple and effectively extract spatiotemporal multiscale information from chemical process data and achieve a approximately reduction of 30% in prediction error compared to other time-series models. Furthermore, its robustness and transferability underscore its promising potential for broader applications.

Controlled high-density interface engineering of Fe_(3)O_(4)-FeS nanoarray for efficient hydrogen evolution

The rational design of double active sites system is vital for constructing high-efficiency iron sulfides electrocatalysts towards hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) in alkaline media. However, it remains a challenge to controllably create the high-density interface of double sites for optimal synergistic ***, we reported a simple chemical oxidation-induced surface reconfiguration strategy to obtain the interface-rich Fe_(3)O_(4)-FeS nanoarray supported on iron foam(Fe_(3)O_(4)-FeS/IF) using FeS nanosheets as precursors. The abundant Fe_(3)O_(4)-FeS interfaces could improve the dispersion of active sites and facilitate the electron transfer, leading to enhanced hydrogen evolution efficiency. And meanwhile, by altering the oxidation temperature, the content of S and O could be effectively controlled, further achieving the ratio optimization of Fe_(3)O_(4)to FeS. Synchrotron-based X-ray absorption near-edge structure, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy consistently confirm the changes of electronic structure and d-band center of Fe_(3)O_(4)-FeS after chemical oxidation. Consequently, Fe_(3)O_(4)-FeS/IF exhibits excellent alkaline HER activity with a low overpotential of 120.8 mV to reach 20 mA cm^(-2),and remains stable ranging from 10, 20 to 50 mA cm^(-2) for each 20 h, respectively. Therefore, the facile and controllable chemical oxidation may be an effective strategy for designing high-density interfaces of transition metal-based sulfides towards alkaline HER.

In order to explore the corrosion mechanism of Al_(2)O_(3)-C refractories in the mold flux bearing MnO,the immersion test of Al_(2)O_(3)-C refractories in CaO-SiO2-CaF2-MnO slag with different MnO contents was carried out at 1550℃.The results show that Mn particles were observed in the slag after experiment,due to the reduction of MnO by graphite in *** amounts of graphite were observed at the interface between refractories and slag,indicating that the oxidation of graphite is limited by the poor contact between graphite and molten ***,the oxidation of graphite is not the main cause of damage to refractories.A small quantity of CaO·2Al_(2)O_(3)(CA_(2))and CaO·6Al_(2)O_(3)(CA_(6))adjacent to Al_(2)O_(3) grain was detected at the slag/reaction layer ***_(2) and CA_(6) possess relatively high melting points,which is beneficial to hindering the further penetration of ***,the dissolution of Al_(2)O_(3) into slag is still the main cause for refractories *** increase in the MnO content of mold slag decreases the viscosity and then results in the severe corrosion of Al_(2)O_(3)-C bricks.
