Prevalence of and risk factors for tuberculosis among healthcare workers in Chinese tuberculosis facilities

Background:China is one of 22 countries with a high tuberculosis(TB)burden in the *** workers(HCWs)have a high risk of contracting Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection due to insufficient infection control *** conducted a cross-sectional study to explore the prevalence of TB and its associated risk factors among HCWs in Chinese TB ***:Two hundred and forty-one TB facilities employing a total of 9663 HCWs were selected from 12 provinces in China to represent healthcare settings at the provincial,prefectural,and county *** questionnaires were used to collect information on TB infection control practices and HCWs in those *** was double entered into EpiData 3.1;TB prevalence and associated risk factors were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 with bivariate and multivariate regression ***:The results showed that 71 HCWs had been diagnosed with TB,accounting for a prevalence of 760/*** multivariate analysis showed that associated risk factors included belonging to the age group of 51 years and above(aOR:6.17,95%CI:1.35-28.28),being a nurse(aOR=3.09,95%CI:1.15-8.32),implementation of 0-9 items of management measures(aOR=2.57,95%CI:1.37-4.80),and implementation of 0-1 items of ventilation measures(aOR=2.42,95%CI:1.31-4.47).Conclusion:This was the first national large sampling survey on TB prevalence among HCWs in *** was found that the implementation of TB infection control practices in some facilities was *** TB prevalence in HCWs was higher than that in the general ***,TB infection control practices in Chinese medical facilities should be strengthened.

As an emerging environmental contaminant,antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in tap water have attracted great *** studies have provided ARG profiles in tap water,research on their abundance levels,composition characteristics,and potential threat is still ***,9 household tap water samples were collected from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA)in ***,75 sets of environmental sample data(9 types)were downloaded from the public *** was then performed to explore the differences in the abundance and composition of ARGs.221 ARG subtypes consisting of 17 types were detected in tap *** the ARG abundance in tap water was not significantly different from that found in drinking water plants and reservoirs,their composition *** tap water samples,the three most abundant classes of resistance genes were multidrug,fosfomycin and MLS(macrolide-lincosamidestreptogramin)ARGs,and their corresponding subtypes ompR,fosX and macB were also the most abundant ARG *** the potential mobility,vanS had the highest abundance on plasmids and viruses,but the absence of key genes rendered resistance to vancomycin ***,the majority of ARGs present in tap water were those that have not been assessed and are currently not listed as high-threat level ARG families based on the World Health Organization *** the current potential threat to human health posed by ARGs in tap water is limited,with persistent transfer and accumulation,especially in pathogens,the potential danger to human health posed by ARGs should not be ignored.

Achievable dual-strategy to stabilize Li-rich layered oxide interface by a one-step wet chemical reaction towards long oxygen redox reversibility

Oxygen release and electrolyte decomposition under high voltage endlessly exacerbate interfacial ramifications and structu ral degradation of high energy-density Li-rich layered oxide（LLO）,leading to voltage and capacity ***,the dual-strategy of Cr,B complex coating and local gradient doping is simultaneously achieved on LLO surface by a one-step wet chemical reaction at room *** functional theory（DFT） calculations prove that stable B-O and Cr-O bonds through the local gradient doping can significantly reduce the high-energy O 2p states of interfacial lattice O,which is also effective for the near-surface lattice O,thus greatly stabilizing the LLO surface,Besides,differential electrochemical mass spectrometry（DEMS） indicates that the CrxB complex coating can adequately inhibit oxygen release and prevents the migration or dissolution of transition metal ions,including allowing speedy Li+migration,The voltage and capacity fading of the modified cathode（LLO-CrB） are adequately suppressed,which are benefited from the uniformly dense cathode electrolyte interface（CEI） composed of balanced organic/inorganic ***,the specific capacity of LLO-CrB after 200 cycles at 1C is 209.3 mA h g-1（with a retention rate of 95.1%）.This dual-strategy through a one-step wet chemical reaction is expected to be applied in the design and development of other anionic redox cathode materials.

Background Acute diarrhea with fever can potentially represent a more severe form of the disease compared to non-febrile diarrhea. This study was to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and enteric pathogen composition of febrile-diarrheal patients, and to explore factors including pathogens associated with fever by age *** A nationwide surveillance study of acute diarrheal patients of all ages was conducted in 217 sentinel hospitals from 31 provinces (autonomous regions or municipalities) in China between 2011 and 2020. Seventeen diarrhea-related pathogens, including seven viruses and ten bacteria, were investigated and their association with occurrence of fever symptoms was assessed using multivariate logistic *** A total of 146,296 patients with acute diarrhea (18.6% with fever) were tested. Th diarrheal children below 5 years had the highest frequency of fever (24.2%), and related to significantly higher prevalence of viral enteropathogens (40.2%) as compared with other age groups (P < 0.001). Within each age group, the febrile-diarrheal patients were associated with a significantly higher prevalence of bacterial pathogens than afebrile-diarrheal patients (allP < 0.01). There was discrepancy when each pathogen was compared, i.e., nontyphoidalSalmonella (NTS) was over-represented in febrile vs non-febrile patients of all age groups, while the febrile vs non-febrile difference for diarrheagenicEscherichia coli (DEC) was only significant for adult groups. The multivariate analysis revealed significant association between fever and infection with rotavirus A among children [odds ratio (OR) = 1.60], for DEC in adult groups (OR = 1.64), for NTS in both children (OR = 2.95) and adults (OR = 3.59).Conclusions There are significant discrepancy of the infected enteric pathogens in patients with acute diarrhea with fever between age groups, and it is valuable for priority detection of NTS and rotavirus A in patients with children < 5 years

Nanoimprint lithography-assisted block copolymer self-assembly for hyperfine fabrication of magnetic patterns based on L10-FePt nanoparticles

L10-FePt-type bit-patterned media has provided a promising alternative for ultrahigh-density magnetic recording systems in the current digital era, but rapid fabrication of magnetic patterns with hyperfine bit islands is still challenging, especially with the target for miniaturization and scalable production simultaneously. Herein, Fe,Pt-containing block copolymers were utilized as single-source precursors for solution-processable patterning and subsequent generation of the demanding magnetic FePt dots by in situ pyrolysis. High-throughput nanoimprint lithography was initially employed to fabricate the predefined bit cells precisely,and then the intrinsic self-assembly of phase-separated block copolymers further drove the formation of accurate bit *** from the synergistic effect of top-down lithographic approach and bottom-up self-assembly, the customizable patterns could be achieved for large-scale mass production in targeted areas, but high-density isolated dots could also be accurately aligned along the patterned features after subsequent self-assembly. This reliable strategy would provide a good avenue to precisely construct ultrahigh-density magnetic data storage devices.

Understanding the ecological adaptation of tree species can not only reveal the evolutionary potential but also benefit biodiversity conservation under global climate *** is a keystone genus in Northern Hemisphere forests,and its wide distribution in diverse ecosystems and long evolutionary history make it an ideal model for studying the genomic basis of ecological *** we used a newly sequenced genome of Quercus gilva,an evergreen oak species from East Asia,with 18 published Fagales genomes to determine how Fagaceae genomes have evolved,identify genomic footprints of ecological adaptability in oaks in general,as well as between evergreen and deciduous *** found that oak species exhibited a higher degree of genomic conservation and stability,as indicated by the absence of large-scale chromosomal structural variations or additional whole-genome duplication *** addition,we identified expansion and tandem repetitions within gene families that contribute to plant physical and chemical defense(e.g.,cuticle biosynthesis and oxidosqualene cyclase genes),which may represent the foundation for the ecological adaptation of oak *** rhythm and hormone-related genes may regulate the habits of evergreen and deciduous *** study provides a comprehensive perspective on the ecological adaptations of tree species based on phylogenetic,genome evolutionary,and functional genomic analyses.
