TOPSIS based Taguchi design optimization for CVD growth of graphene using different carbon sources: Graphene thickness, defectiveness and homogeneity

Chemical inhomogeneity of chemical vapor deposition(CVD) grown graphene compromises its usage in highperformance devices. In this study, TOPSIS based Taguchi optimization was performed to improve thickness uniformity and defect density of CVD grown graphene. 1.56% decrease in the mean 2 D/G intensity ratio, 87.96% improvement in the mean D/G intensity ratio, 56.07% improvement in the standard deviation D/G intensity ratio, 25.21%improvement in the standard deviation 2 D/G intensity ratio, and 69.32% improvement in the surface roughness were achieved with TOPSIS based Taguchi optimization. The statistical differences between the copper and silicon substrates have been found significantly in terms of their impacts on the graphene's properties with the0.000 p-value for the mean D/G intensity ratio and with the 0.009 p-value for the mean 2 D/G intensity ratio, respectively. Graphene having 11% lower mean D/G intensity ratio(low defective graphene products) compared to the values given in the literature using single-response optimization was obtained using multi-response optimization.

Response surface methodology-based parameter optimization of single-cylinder diesel engine fueled with graphene oxide dosed sesame oil/ diesel fuel blend

In this study, an experimental study was carried out to determine the effects of adding different amounts of graphene oxide (GO) on engine characteristics to a single-cylinder diesel engine operating with 30% sesame oil (SO) + 70% diesel fuel mixture. After that, an optimization was carried out with response surface methodology (RSM) to determine optimum operating conditions at different engine loads. Experimental results showed that GO nanoparticle is a good addition for diesel–biodiesel blends to enhance the performance and reduce emissions. The most appropriate amount of GO is between 75 ppm and 100 ppm for the performance characteristics. The optimal amount of GO for power is 75 ppm, while for brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and exhaust gas temperature (EGT) it is 100 ppm. In addition, the maximum GO amount of 100 ppm is the most suitable for carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC), and 75 ppm GO amount is the most appropriate for nitrogen oxides (NOx). On the other hand, optimization results revealed that 100 ppm GO at 1950 W load was optimum conditions for all responses. The responses that emerged under optimum conditions were 1746.77 W, 968.73 g/ kWh, 259.8 ⁰C, 0.0603%, 23.13 ppm and 185.61 ppm for power, BSFC, EGT, CO, HC, and NOx, respectively. According to the validation study, the error between the optimum and experimental results is 4.69% maximum. According to the findings of study, it can be concluded that the RSM model can successfully model a singlecylinder diesel engine and thus save time, and money.

Antibiotic ciprofloxacin removal from aqueous solutions by electrochemically activated persulfate process:Optimization,degradation pathways,and toxicology assessment

Ciprofloxacin(CIP)is a commonly used antibiotic in the fluoroquinolone group and is widely used in medical and veterinary medicine disciplines to treat bacterial *** CIP is discharged into the sewage system,it cannot be removed by a conventional wastewater treatment plant because of its recalcitrant *** this study,boron-doped diamond anode and persulfate were used to degrade CIP in an aquatic solution by creating an electrochemically activated persulfate(EAP)*** added to the system as a coactivator and the process was called EAP+*** effects of independent variables,including pH,Fe^(2+),persulfate concentration,and electrolysis time on the systemwere optimized using the response surface *** results showed that the EAP+Fe process removed 94%of CIP under the following optimum conditions:A pH of 3,persulfate/Fe^(2+)concentration of 0.4 mmol/L,initial CIP concentration 30 mg/L,and electrolysis time of 12.64 *** removal efficiency was increased from 65.10%to 94.35%by adding Fe^(2+)as a transition *** degradation products,7 pathways,and 78 intermediates of CIP were studied,and three of those intermediates(m/z 298,498,and 505)were *** toxicological analysis based on toxicity estimation software results indicated that some degradation products of CIP were toxic to targeted animals,including fathead minnow,Daphnia magna,Tetrahymena pyriformis,and *** optimumoperation costswere similar in EAP and EAP+Fe processes,approximately 0.54€/m^(3).

Alternative scattering kernels for the first estimates of a reactor:diffusion length

Diffusion-length calculations of neutrons are performed using the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. The neutrons are assumed to move with constant energy in a uniform homogeneous slab. An alternative scattering kernel called an Anl?–Gngr phase function and a traditional Henyey–Greenstein phase function are used for the scattering function in the stationary neutron transport equation. First, analytic expressions and then numerical results are obtained for the diffusion length for various values of the scattering and cross-sectional *** results obtained from both scattering kernels for the diffusion length of the neutrons are given in tables side by side for comparison. The applicability of the method is easily demonstrated by these results.

Impact of starter culture on biochemical properties of sourdough bread related to composition and macronutrient digestibility

Due to the desire for nutritionally dense foods,there is interest in whole grain and sourdough bread *** research study was carried out to evaluate the effect of different starter cultures and stone mill settings on the nutritional attributes of sourdough *** a stone mill,a blend of three hard red spring wheat varieties was ground into whole-grain *** different gap settings and two different rotation speed values were used to produce flour samples with six different treatments,and those six flour samples were used to make sourdough bread with two different starter *** experimental design was a randomized complete block design with a factorial *** differences(p<0.05)were observed in dietary fiber content,arabinoxylan content,total starch content,and protein digestibility between sourdough bread made with rye and wheat starter *** protein digestibility values were observed for most of the sourdough samples with the rye starter culture compared to the wheat starter *** addition,the protein digestibility showed a strong negative correlation(r=-0.85)with the coarse particles and a positive correlation(r=0.70)with the fine particle size *** results demonstrated that selected starter cultures and the raw material with the desired particle size could improve sourdough bread’s nutritional attributes and potential application in the baking industry.

Urine products of bone breakdown as markers of bone resorption and clinical usefulness of urinary hydroxyproline:an overview

Purpose The purpose of this study is to review the urine products of bone breakdown as markers of bone resorption and usefulness of urinary hydroxyproline.Data Related researches published in 1985 -2000 were systematically reviewed.Results Bone markers could be used for early diagnosis of bone metabolic diseases. Biochemical markers of bone resorption that reflect osteoclast activity and/or collagen degradation provide a new and potentially important clinical tool for the assessment and monitoring of bone metabolism. Assessment of bone resorption can be achieved with measurement of urinary hydroxylysine glycosides, urinary excretion of the collagen pyridinium cross-links, urinary excretion of type I collagen telopeptide breakdown products (cross-linked telopeptides) and urinary hydroxyproline.Conclusion Urinary hydroxyproline has been in use as a marker of bone resorption, but it lacks sensitivity and specificity. It is a modified aminoacid that is a metabolic product of collagen breakdown. Hydroxyproline may be released either free or with fragments of the collagen molecule attached during bone resorption, and it is also liberated by the breakdown of complement and nonskeletal collagen.
