Background: Using ultrasound to measure optic nerve sheath diameter(ONSD) is an emerging bedside technique to noninvasively assess intracranial pressure(ICP) in patients with brain injury. This technique is unique among bedside ultrasonography and is often performed by providers who have no formal ultrasound training. We sought to create a low-cost, 3 D, reusable ONSD model to train neurology, neurosurgery, and critical care providers in measuring ***: We identified 253 articles, of which 15 were associated with models and 2 with simulation. One gelatin model was reported, upon which we based our initial design. We could not validate the visual findings of this model;however, after constructing multiple beta models, the design most representative of human eye anatomy was a globe made of ballistics gel and either a 3 mm, 5 mm, or 7 mm×50 mm 3 D-printed optic nerve inserted into a platform composed of ballistics gel, all of which sat inside a 3 D-printed skull. This model was used to teach ONSD measurements with ultrasound at a continuing medical education event prior to training on a live human ***: A simple 3 D ballistic ONSD model allows learners to practice proper hand placement and pressure, basic landmarks, and ONSD measurement prior to operating on a human eye. This model is replicable and sustainable given that the globe and platform are composed of ballistics gel.

Common wheat(Triticum aestivum l.)is the most important crop in the world and a typical allopolyploid with a large and complex ***-harvest sprouting(PHS)leads to a significant reduction in grain quality *** is a complex trait with related QTl located on different ***,the study of markers and genes related to PHS resistance is limited especially for whitegrained *** pairs of near isogenic lines(NIls)from a white-grained wheat cross of CharaDM5637B*8 targeting a major QTl for PHS resistance(***-3A.1)on wheat chromosme 3Al were genotyped using the 90K SNP Illumina iSelect *** SNPs were identified,with a 75%-100%consistency between genotype and phenotype in the resistant or susceptible *** 10 SNPs were converted to cost-effective kompetitive allele-specific PCR(KASP)*** of 48 wheat cultivars with different phenotypes of PHS identified four KASP markers with 81.3%-85.4%conformity between genotype and *** investigation revealed that the four SNPs(BS00022245_51,Kukri_c49927_151,BS00022884_51 and BS00110550_51)corresponding to the four validated KASP markers are residing in three independent genes(TraesCS3A03G1072800,TraesCS3A03G1072400,TraesCS3A03G1071800)close to each other with a distance of 4.28-4.48 Mb to the targeted *** three annotated genes have potential functions related to PHS *** study revealed that combined use of NIls and the 90K SNP chip is a powerful approach for developing KASP markers and mining functional genes in *** KASP markers for PHS resistance on chromosome 3Al are useful for high-throughput evaluation and marker-assisted selection,and the three identified genes could lead to a better understanding of the genetic pathways controlling PHS.

背景:脑震荡是足球运动中一种普遍的病理类型,但球员和管理人员对其还存在大量误解。为消除这些误解并减少脑震荡相关的潜在后遗症,开展有效的教育干预措施十分必要。进行适当干预措施,需调查球员对脑震荡知识的了解现状及其态度。本研究旨在评估英格兰职业足球运动员对脑震荡知识的了解及态度。方法:本研究调查对象为一家英冠联赛俱乐部的26名球员,采用罗森鲍姆脑震荡知识和态度调查问卷(RoCKAS)和半结构式访谈相结合的调查方式。RoCKAS包括独立的知识分(0-25)和态度分(15-75),半结构式访谈包括脑震荡知识、态度和行为相关问题。结果:RoCKAS中平均知识分与态度分分别为16.4±2.9(11-22)和59.6±8.5(41-71)。随后的访谈印证了球员RoCKAS分数与其行为意图确实不一致,证实他们对脑震荡存在各种误解,并指出脑震荡报告的现有障碍。结论:本研究结果显示英冠联赛球员在回答纸质问卷时有中度的脑震荡知识水平和安全态度,以及良好的脑震荡症状识别能力;但在半结构式访谈中,许多受访者尽管意识到潜在风险,对脑震荡仍有不安全行为表现。另外,本研究还确定了多种脑震荡报告的相关障碍,包括对损伤的感知严重性、比赛状况、球员替换规则等。这些结果能帮助形成教育干预基础,从而有望在职业足球运动员中改善脑震荡报告行为。

Analysis of Prevalent leptospira Serovar in Different Animals of South Gujarat Region during the Year of 2020

Aim of Study: leptospirosis is a bacterial zoonotic disease transmitted through contact with animals that are harbouring leptospira. Knowledge of prevalent leptospira in a particular animal of a particular geographical area is essential to understand the epizootiology of disease, to understand the linkage between circulating serovars in animals and in humans, and to apply appropriate control measures, etc. Material and Methods: Animal samples from different districts of the south Gujarat region received in the Microbiology department during the year of 2020 for the Microscopic agglutination test (MAT) of leptospirosis were included in the study. Results of MAT which was already performed using 12 different serovars were analysed to prevent serovars in a particular animal. Quantitative data were analysed using frequency and percentage. Result: Out of 1406 animal samples, 151 (11 percent) were positive from animals like cows, buffalos, bullocks and goats. More prevalent serovars in cows were l. ictrohemorrahiae (22%), l. hardjo (19%), l. patoc (17%) and l. pyrogen (16%). In buffalo, l. patoc (58%) and l. hardjo (27%) were found. l. hardjo (50%) in bullock and l. automonalis (50%), l. australis (22%) and l. patoc (14%) in goat were found as prevent serovars. Conclusion: Different prevent serovars has been observed in different animals from the different district south Gujarat region which will be helpful to trace the source of infection in human, to apply control measures, to know the epizootiology of disease, for developing strategies in the future during vaccine development with emphasizing more on the prevalent serovars.

Validation of the TOPAS Monte-Carlo Code of the Off-Field Dose of a 6 MV Synergy linac

The risk of radiation-induced second cancer and the late tissue loss due to Off-field doses in radiotherapy remain a serious concern. Monte Carlo (mc) simulation is currently one of the most accurate methods for calculating these doses. mc simulation model based on the Particle Simulation Tool (TOPAS) has been developed to simulate the off-field dose of an Elekta Synergy linear accelerator (linac) emitting 6 MV photons. Measurements were taken in a water phantom using an ionization chamber to validate this model. The Percentage Depth Dose (PDD) at the depth of 0.0, 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0 cm from the beam axis for a 10 × 10 cm2 field size was measured and simulated. Off-field dose profiles at the depth of 1.5 (dmax), 5.0 and 10.0 cm for field sizes of 5 × 5, 10 × 10, 15 × 15, and 20 × 20 cm2 respectively were measured and simulated. Comparison of measured and simulated off-field dose values showed a good agreement. The average gamma passing rate of the PDDs and profiles curves for off-field doses were 87.5% and 98.11% respectively. The local dose difference based on the PDD curve between the measured and simulated was less than 6.0 % for all locations. For all field size considered in this study, the average difference between profile curves for off-field dose measured and simulated was 9.1%. PDDs and Profiles curves for off-field dose simulation uncertainties were less than 2.0% and 1.0% respectively. TOPAS-mc simulation model developed is a good representation of our 6 MV linac Elekta Synergy for assessing off-field dose, which would be the primary cause of some secondary cancers.

Placental accommodations for transport and metabolism during intra-uterine crowding in pigs

litter size and birth weights are limited by uterine capacity, defined as the ability of the uterus to maintain the appropriate development of some number of conceptuses. Uterine capacity is the result of the combined effects of uterine, placental and embryo/fetal function. The number of living conceptuses that the uterus is capable of supporting is greater during early gestation compared to later gestation. Plots of log fetal weight versus log placental weight also indicate that fetal weights are less sensitive to reduced placental weight （and therefore reduced intrauterine space） in early gestation compared to late gestation. However, even in late gestation, mechanisms still exist that maintain fetal growth when the size of the placenta is reduced. One such mechanism is likely to be improved development of the folded placental-epithelial/maternal-epithelial bilayer. Fold depth, and therefore the maternal fetal interactive surface, increases as gestation advances and is greater in placenta from smal fetuses. On the fetal side of the placenta, the epithelial bilayer is embedded in stromal tissue. Glycosaminoglycans are major components of stroma, including hyaluronan and heparan sulfate. Hyaluronidases and heparanases are present within placental tissues, and likely play roles in modification of stromal components to facilitate fold development. Glycosaminoglycans are polymers of forms of glucose （glucosamine, glucuronic acid, iduronic acid） suggesting that glycosaminoglycan synthesis may compete with the glucose needs of the developing fetus. Pig conceptuses are fructogenic, such that a substantial portion of glucose transferred from mother to fetus is converted to fructose. Fructose is an intermediate product in the synthesis of glucosamine from glucose, and glucosamine is linked to regulation of trophoblast cell proliferation through regulation of mTOR.
