Driving fatigue is a physiological phenomenon that often occurs during driving.After the driver enters a fatigued state,the attentionis lax,the response is slow,and the ability todeal with emergencies is significantly reduced,which can easily cause traffic accidents.Therefore,studying driver fatigue detectionmethods is significant in ensuring safe driving.However,the fatigue state of actual drivers is easily interfered with by the external environment(glasses and light),which leads to many problems,such as weak reliability of fatigue driving detection.Moreover,fatigue is a slow process,first manifested in physiological signals and then reflected in human face images.To improve the accuracy and stability of fatigue detection,this paper proposed a driver fatigue detection method based on image information and physiological information,designed a fatigue driving detection device,built a simulation driving experiment platform,and collected facial as well as physiological information of drivers during driving.Finally,the effectiveness of the fatigue detection method was evaluated.Eye movement feature parameters and physiological signal features of drivers’fatigue levels were extracted.The driver fatigue detection model was trained to classify fatigue and non-fatigue states based on the extracted features.Accuracy rates of the image,electroencephalogram(EEG),and blood oxygen signals were 86%,82%,and 71%,separately.Information fusion theory was presented to facilitate the fatigue detection effect;the fatigue features were fused using multiple kernel learning and typical correlation analysis methods to increase the detection accuracy to 94%.It can be seen that the fatigue driving detectionmethod based onmulti-source feature fusion effectively detected driver fatigue state,and the accuracy rate was higher than that of a single information source.In summary,fatigue drivingmonitoring has broad development prospects and can be used in traffic accident prevention and wearable driver fatigue recognition.

Peptide nanotube loaded with a STING agonist,c-di-GMP,enhance cancer immunotherapy against melanoma

The activation of the stimulating factor of the interferon gene(STING)pathway can enhance the immune response within the tumor.Cyclic diguanylate monophosphate(c-di-GMP)is a negatively charged,hydrophilic STING agonist,however,its effectiveness is limited due to the poor membrane permeability and low bioavailability.Herein,we introduced KL-7 peptide derived from Aβamyloid fibrils that can self-assemble to form nanotubes to load and deliver c-di-GMP,which significantly enhanced c-di-GMP’s effectiveness and then exhibited a robust“in situ immunity”to kill melanoma cells.KL-7 peptide nanotube,also called PNT,was loaded with negatively charged c-di-GMP via electrostatic interaction,which prepared a nanocomposite named c-di-GMP-PNT.Treatment of RAW 264.7 cells(leukemia cells in mouse macrophage)with c-di-GMP-PNT markedly stimulated the secretion of IL-6 and INF-βalong with phospho-STING(Ser365)protein expression,indicating the activation of the STING pathway.In the unilateral flank B16-F10(murine melanoma cells)tumor-bearing mouse model,compared to PNT and cdi-GMP,c-di-GMP-PNT can promote the expression of INF-β,TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1β.At the same time,up-regulated CD4 and CD8 active T cells kill tumors and enhance the immune response in tumor tissues,resulting in significant inhibition of tumor growth in tumor-bearing mice.More importantly,in a bilateral flank B16-F10 tumor model,both primary and distant tumor growth can also be significantly inhibited by c-di-GMP-PNT.Moreover,c-di-GMP-PNT demonstrated no obvious biological toxicity on the main organs(heart,liver,spleen,lung,and kidney)and biochemical indexes of mice.In summary,our study provides a strategy to overcome the barriers of free c-di-GMP in the tumor microenvironment and c-di-GMP-PNT may be an attractive nanomaterial for anti-tumor immunity.

Dual-targeting AAV9P1-mediated neuronal reprogramming in a mouse model of traumatic brain injury

Traumatic brain injury results in neuronal loss and glial scar formation.Replenishing neurons and eliminating the consequences of glial scar formation are essential for treating traumatic brain injury.Neuronal reprogramming is a promising strategy to convert glial scars to neural tissue.However,previous studies have reported inconsistent results.In this study,an AAV9P1 vector incorporating an astrocyte-targeting P1 peptide and glial fibrillary acidic protein promoter was used to achieve dual-targeting of astrocytes and the glial scar while minimizing off-target effects.The results demonstrate that AAV9P1 provides high selectivity of astrocytes and reactive astrocytes.Moreover,neuronal reprogramming was induced by downregulating the polypyrimidine tract-binding protein 1 gene via systemic administration of AAV9P1 in a mouse model of traumatic brain injury.In summary,this approach provides an improved gene delivery vehicle to study neuronal programming and evidence of its applications for traumatic brain injury.

Prevalence and risk factors of cardiovascular diseases and psychological distress among female scientists and technicians

This study aimed to explore the prevalence and risk factors of cardiovascular disease(CVD)and psychological distress among female scientists and technicians in China.Accordingly,we included scientists and technicians from representative research institutions,medical institutions,colleges,universities,and businesses in China,and the data were collected from July 1,2019 to March 31,2021 via online questionnaires.The parameters evaluated in this study included age,sex,marital status,educational background,monthly income,sleep hours,sleep problems,smoking,alcohol consumption,work-related stress,work burnout,cardiovascular symptoms,CVD,family history,and depressive and anxiety symptoms.A total of 14530 scientists and technicians were included,comprising 7144 men and 7386 women.We found 34.9%men and 16.6%women with CVD,35.1%men and 21.4%women with depressive symptoms,28.7%men and 13.8%women with anxiety symptoms,and 22.0%men and9.5%women with CVD combined with depressive or anxiety symptoms.This study focused on the details of women.Younger women(age≤35 years)had the highest prevalence of depressive symptoms(24.9%),anxiety symptoms(16.2%),and comorbidity(11.2%).It was established that,despite traditional risk factors,unmanageable work burnout,depressive symptoms,and anxiety symptoms were associated with a higher risk of CVD in women;insomnia,overwhelming work stress,unmanageable work burnout,and CVD were linked to a higher risk of depressive symptoms and anxiety;insomnia,overwhelming work stress,and unmanageable work burnout were related to CVD combined with depressive or anxiety symptoms.A bidirectional relationship was noted between CVD and depression or anxiety in female scientists and technicians,and insomnia and overwhelming work stress were positively associated with comorbidity.It is suggested that effective measures should be taken to protect female scientists and technicians from CVD and psychological distress.

Data Concurrent Transmission MAC Protocol for Application Oriented Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

With the increasing demand for marine exploration, underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) are prone to have the characteristics of large-scale, long term monitoring, and high data traffic load. Underwater media access control (MAC) protocols, which allow multiple users to share the common medium fairly and efficiently, are essential for the performance of UASNs. However, the design of MAC protocols is confronted with the challenges of spatial unfairness, data eruption, and low energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel data concurrent transmission (DCT) MAC protocol, which is able to exploit long propagation delay and conduct concurrent transmission. Specifically, we present the theoretical performance analysis of the proposed MAC protocol in detail and give an analytical solution of the success concurrent transmission probability between nodes. In addition, simulation results are provided to demonstrate that our proposed protocol is appropriate for UASNs and can significantly improve the performance in terms of network throughput and energy consumption. Finally, we give some typical future applications of UASNs and discuss the demands on MAC protocol design.

Background Myopia is a leading cause of visual impairment in Asia and worldwide.However,accurately predicting the progression of myopia and the high risk of myopia remains a challenge.This study aims to develop a predictive model for the development of myopia.Methods We first retrospectively gathered 612530 medical records from five independent cohorts,encompassing 227543 patients ranging from infants to young adults.Subsequently,we developed a multivariate linear regression algorithm model to predict the progression of myopia and the risk of high myopia.Result The model to predict the progression of myopia achieved an R^(2) value of 0.964 vs a mean absolute error(MAE)of 0.119D[95%confidence interval(CI):0.119,1.146]in the internal validation set.It demonstrated strong generalizability,maintaining consistent performance across external validation sets:R^(2)=0.950 vs MAE=0.119D(95%CI:0.119,1.136)in validation study 1,R^(2)=0.950 vs MAE=0.121D(95%CI:0.121,1.144)in validation study 2,and R^(2)=0.806 vs MAE=−0.066D(95%CI:−0.066,0.569)in the Shanghai Children Myopia Study.In the Beijing Children Eye Study,the model achieved an R^(2) of 0.749 vs a MAE of 0.178D(95%CI:0.178,1.557).The model to predict the risk of high myopia achieved an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.99 in the internal validation set and consistently high area under the curve values of 0.99,0.99,0.96 and 0.99 in the respective external validation sets.Conclusion Our study demonstrates accurate prediction of myopia progression and risk of high myopia providing valuable insights for tailoring strategies to personalize and optimize the clinical management of myopia in children.

经皮穴位电刺激对胸腔镜肺癌术后咳嗽的影响

目的:评价经皮穴位电刺激(TEAS)对胸腔镜肺癌术后咳嗽的缓解作用。方法:将110例接受胸腔镜肺癌手术的患者随机分为TEAS组(55例,脱落2例)和假TEAS组(55例,脱落4例)。TEAS组分别于麻醉前30 min、术后1~4 d接受TEAS治疗,穴取双侧肺俞、脾俞、肾俞、合谷、列缺、太溪,予疏密波,频率2 Hz/100 Hz;假TEAS组在相同时间、相同穴位粘贴电极片但无电刺激。均每次30 min,每日1次。比较两组患者术后第1天(T_(1))、术后第3天(T_(2))、术后第5天(T_(3))、术后1个月(T_(4))、术后3个月(T_(5))咳嗽发生率、咳嗽视觉模拟量表(VAS)评分及T_(4)、T_(5)莱斯特咳嗽问卷(LCQ)评分,检测术前(T0)、T_(1)、T_(2)、T_(3)血清C反应蛋白(CRP)、白介素6(IL-6)、肿瘤坏死因子α(TNF-α)含量,比较术后首次排气时间、首次排便时间、首次下床活动时间、术后住院天数、术后恶心呕吐发生情况。结果:TEAS组T_(3)时点咳嗽发生率及T_(1)~T_(5)时点咳嗽VAS评分低于假TEAS组(P<0.05,P<0.01),T_(4)、T_(5)时点LCQ评分高于假TEAS组(P<0.05);T_(1)~T_(3)时点血清CRP、IL-6、TNF-α含量低于假TEAS组(P<0.01);首次排气时间、首次排便时间、首次下床活动时间早于假TEAS组(P<0.05,P<0.01),术后住院天数短于假TEAS组(P<0.05),术后恶心呕吐发生率低于假TEAS组(P<0.05)。结论:TEAS可缓解胸腔镜肺癌术后咳嗽,提高患者生活质量,促进患者术后早期康复。

"沉默性谵妄"(即低活动型谵妄)正侵害着老年冠心病患者,尤其是高龄患者。研究显示术后谵妄、认知障碍影响接受外科手术的全年龄段患者[1],而年龄增长则是术后认知障碍的独立危险因素[2]。我国正面临人口加速老龄化的困境,第七次全国人口普查数据显示我国60岁及以上人口比重达18.7%,其中65岁及以上人口达13.5%[3],预计到2035年我国60岁以上老年人口将突破4亿,占总人口比重超过30%,彼时我国将正式步入深度老龄化社会。研究显示高龄患者术后谵妄的发病率较高,但识别率较低,术后谵妄未被发现者高达84%[4]。术后谵妄对患者的早期和远期预后均有不良影响,其可增加术后远期认知障碍的发生风险。对于术后谵妄、认知障碍,目前主要是对症治疗,大部分高龄患者预后不良。本文对老年尤其是高龄患者冠状动脉血运重建术后谵妄、认知障碍的定义、发病率、诊断、预防和治疗进行了阐述,以供同行参考。
